InuYasha Enter the Dream Chapter II: The Labyrinth of Dreams

FEUDAL JAPAN

Malevora moved her hands lovingly over the smooth surface of the ball, caressing it as she concentrated, focusing her thoughts into the ball, her mind weaving threads like a loom, making the fabric of her mind strong. Her thoughts poured into the ball, and also like a loom, a myriad walls began forming in the ball, a maze, a labyrinth.

In the center lay Kagome Higurashi, in stasis. In five other points of the labyrinth Kagome's friends, InuYasha, Kirarra, Shippo, Miroku and Sango waited, also in stasis, dreaming, dreaming hard, hard enough to kill, for these dreams were Malevora's first test.

"You and yer little friends are soon to die, little bitch, and then where will ye be?" Malevora told the ball.

The last wall of the labyrinth went up, Malevora, satisfied, placed the ball back into Kagome's bookbag. She then ransacked the camp, finding a set of priestess robes that Kagome had neglected to return to Kaede, Malevora stole them, and made them her own, she also found the shards of the Shikon Jewel, which she added to her hairpiece. Using one of the shards, she fused the Dream Crystal into the middle, and it changed, its rose color ebbing away to be replaced by a bright green, an emerald in a sea of amytheist. She brushed her hair until it was perfectly smooth, the liquid fire now reaching her ankles, she was beautiful, a priestess of evil.

THE DREAM

InuYasha awoke next to Kikyo, who slept dreamily, not wakening. He sat up and shook his hair out, his sleek, black hair. One of his ears itched, and he gently reached one hand upwards to scratch it, just to find it not at the top of his head, but at the side, a human ear. He began to look around his surroundings.

Everything was surrounded by a dim haze, as though a light fog had made its way into the room, he frowned.

"This doesn't seem right," he muttered to himself.

Kikyo yawned, and stretched, her eyes open. "InuYasha, go back to sleep, the people won't be here for another hour or so."

Her voice was not the same, it was distant, hazy, as though the same obscure fog had crept into her voice. He realized that he wasn't really here, that this was a dream. He cried out, looking for Kagome...

"Kagome!!!" He called, and he awoke. Kikyo reaching out her claws to kill him was the last thing he saw before he awoke, at one of the five farthest points in the Labyrinth.

Miroku awoke in a nunnery, surrounded by 1,000,000 gorgeous nuns, each willing to bear his children. But no Sango. To him, all the women seemed really fake, similar to the Bimbos that he was accustomed to seeing whenever he travelled to Kagome's time. But he also noticed that everything seemed to have a dim veil surrounding it. It just wasn't right. He wanted it to be, but it wasn't.

"This isn't right," Miroku muttered to himself. He awoke. The last thing he perceived was each of the nuns weilding meat cleavers.

Kirarra was a pampered little kitten in a palace made of all gold and marble. But her owner, the Crown Princess of Medievil England, seemed foggy and very distant. She just didn't feel right as her fur was stroked.

"Meow, meow, meow," she mewled to herself, and she awoke. The last thing to enter her line of sight was the princess, carrying a bowl of soured milk.

Sango and Kohaku had finished burying her family. Naraku's head lay on a pike outside her house. But his head looked too comical and surreal to be real, and Kohaku seemed still dead, shadowy and distant.

"This isn't right," She muttered, and awoke. The final thing she saw before she regained consciousness was Kohaku in his battle suit, ready to kill her.

Shippo, alone, had singlehandedly killed the Thunder Brothers, and his father, whose pelt he had saved, was proud. But his father's pelt didn't feel like fur, and the memory of what really happened between him and the thunder brothers kept buzzing in the back of his mind.

"This is cool, but it isn't right," he muttered and awoke. The pelt fell off of his shoulders, just as the maw had opened, ready to seperate Shippo's head from his shoulders.

Kagome awoke in the center of the labyrinth. She called out to the others.

"Hey, guys, I've just realized that I have some, but very limited control over this Labyrinth. I've placed doors in some of the dead ends, they are jumps that will bring you ever closer to the center. If I could, I'd bring you straight to me, but I don't have that much control. You must be wary of Malevora, because I'm sure that she is the creator of the Labyrinth, and if she finds out what I'm doing, she could very well make those doors very hazardous, so be careful everyone."

InuYasha was spellbound. "She's alive!" He muttered, and he burst into tears, glad that of all things, the woman he was coming to love was alive.

Malevora felt the energy as Kagome created the doors in the Labyrinth. So she peered into her crystal as she removed it again from the hairpiece.

"Oh no you don't, ignorant little girl, you shall see my true potential now!" The shards of the shikon jewel in her hairpiece began to glow, and shadows befell the doors in the Labyrinth.

"If your friends can get through these doors with their lives, then your little jumps will work, but if they die, their souls will remain in the Labyrinth forever, powering this crystal as a vessel for me to gather the remaining shards of the jewel, little bitch."

Shock befell Kagome's face, quickly replaced with anger, but Malevora, unable to hear anything going on in the Labyrinth, could not see what Kagome was saying.
