Raven Part Ten

I smell roses.  Wild roses.  Someone is singing.  Gentle notes at first, but then they grow steadily louder.  1

My head is swimming with the recent events.  Mr. Kristoph.  Aidan.  Hawk...2

Hawk!3

My eyes snap open and I sit up so fast, I get dizzy.  I take one quick glance around the room.  There's no one in the room, yet I feel that I am not alone.4

I uncover myself quickly, revealing a cream colored night gown... Someone put fresh clothing on me.  I look around the room once again, and I see that there was someone there that I didn't notice before.5

A stranger sits in a small wooden chair, with her head upon the table.  She is asleep, and I think it best not to disturb her.  6

I hear footsteps.  They come closer and closer to the door.  And suddenly, they stop.7

I whip around and stare at the door.  It seems like hours I stand there staring.  The singing stops and then the door opens.8

Aidan walks into the room.  Hawk follows him.  My heart leaps and I dash straight into her arms.  Then I pull away... She's changed somehow.9

"Glad to see that you're awake," she says happily.10

"Glad to be awake," I reply sarcastically.11

We embrace once again.  This time, she pulls away.12

"How are you feeling?" she asks softly.13

"You've changed somehow," I say, ignoring the question.14

"You're too weak for such conversations," says Aidan, with a deep concern in his voice.15

"Aidan's right, Raven," she agrees.  "You've been through a lot."16

"I want to know how you've changed so much," I demand, ignoring their concerns.17

Hawk ignores my command at first and walks over to the window.18

"I'll talk to you about that later," she says.  "First, you must get more rest and have something to eat."19

This time, I listen and say no more on the subject.  I have met my sister very few times, but I know she can be trusted.  So instead I pursue another subject.20

"What happened to Mr. Kristoph?" I ask.21

"Mr. Kristoph is speaking to the police at the station back in London as we speak," Aidan replies.22

"'In London,' you say?" I tell him.  "But how can that be?"23

"We're no longer in London, Raven," this time, it was the stranger that was sleeping who spoke.  Before I took no notice of her being awake.24

"Who are you?" I ask the stranger, "and where are we?"25

"One question at a time, please," the stranger says.  "And my name is Anora."26

"Alright Anora," I reply.  "Now can you please tell me where we are?"27

"Certainly," she smiled.  She has a kind voice.  It was almost as if she is an angel.28

"We are at my home in Wainaku, Hawaii," says Anora.29

I look more closely around the room.  There are a bunch of beach things and pictures hanging on the walls.  My eyes stop on a picture of Anora surfing.30

"How long have you lived here?" I ask, trying to strike some sort of conversation.31

"I moved here when I turned twenty," she replies.32

"And you've been here since then?" I ask, looking at her.33

"Yes," she says.  "I first moved here with my father."34

"Her father was a great healer," says Aidan.35

"Really?" I ask, surprised.36

"Yes," says Hawk, jumping into the conversation.  "As a matter of fact, Anora is the one who saved your life."37

"It was nothing," replies Anora.38

I stared at Anora for a moment.  "She's pretty," I think to myself.  Blue eyes and brown hair with blond streaks.  39

"You're very beautiful," I tell her.40

"Thank you," she replies graciously.41

"How long have we been here?" I ask my sister.42

"About two days," she replies.43

I stop and think for a moment.  Then I look back at my sister, then to Aidan.44

"Will I have to go back to Mr. Kristoph?" I ask.45

"We don't know," Aidan replies.  "Mr. Kristoph is working on a story that you need some sort of medication to keep you from getting violent, which we all know is a bunch of crap."46

"Oh..." I say, my voice fading as I speak.47
