Lucy

I went down to Shoreline Park, to meet Mermaid and River. River is her boyfriend, who used to be my favorite crush, until he asked her out. That is an act of unloyalty to me, so I consider him not good enough for me. (Apparenlty good enough for Mermaid.) I was thinking of my schzophrenic aunt, whom I had never met. I know people like that are made fun of all the time, and I hate it. I also hate, kind of, Ringo Starr. Anyway, thinking of my aunt makes me sad. My mom hasn't seen her since she moved to California, and that was a long time ago, since my mom's very old, has hip problems, and has the California tan. 1

My aunt killed someone once, because he was bothering her. probably making fun of her or something. I hate that! Why can't we all just get along, and try to understand eachother a little, and keep bad thoughts to ourselves? I can't get why anyone would rape someone without being crazy, or kill for pleasure, or blow up babies. 2

Anyway, Mermaid had a schzophrenic relative too, one she'd never met, and she had a dog like me, and we were friends. We went shopping and camping and stuff, and left out our other friends from the fun, because they were never around to be with anyway. They were busy being A+ students. What interests will they have after college, I wonder? Because their lives revolve around school-if you take that away, they would be lost little lambs. They would eat and sleep and not know what else to do. 3

Oh yes, and I hate Ringo Starr, because he's useless. he keeps a simple beat, and looks cool. I know teenagers who are better drummers, and much more charismatic. Like River. He's very hot, and a great drummer. he isn't afraid of anything, I don't think, and plus he's really nice. 4

I bought a hot, fresh and smelly (a nice smell) cinnamon roll which oozed over my hands and onto my skirt. i turned to ask for a napkin.5

"Lucy." I looked at the person talking to me. I couldn't tell if it was a girl or a boy, or a man,  and it wasn't someone I recognized. 6

"Um...yes?"7

"Thank God your alive."8

"Oh. Thank you...God."9

"No."10

"What?"11

"I mean, thank God your alive!"12

"That's ...nice. Yes." I was trying very hard to be nice, but I had no idea what was going on. A person, one I could tell was a man, came over laughing.13

"I'm sorry for my brother. I was supposed to be watching him. I'm Dane."14

"Hi." He looked like some kind of model. I looked over at his brother, who was humming to himself and looking very depressed. 15

"Is he okay?" I whispered.16

"Oh, yeah. A little messed up, if you see what I mean."17

"I don't."18

"When he was five, he was hit in the head with a bowling ball." 19

Something completely dropped out of my stomach. A little innocent boy playing by himself in the garden, happy. He goes to bowl with his family. He has the future of being the first person to fly, but instead something happens, and he can't remember what two plus two is-or what numbers really are. 20

"Jesus!"21

"I know. What's your name?"22

"He called me Lucy."23

"He calls all girls Lucy." Dane, who was he? He had a flirty grin on. He was flirting with me. 24

"That's my name. Your brother is very smart," I said, and smiled at the humming person. Except now he looked as if he didn't know where he was. 25

"Poor guy. Doesn't know a thing."26

"Why did he come to see me then?"27

"I sent him. I wanted to meet you, Lucy."28

"Why didn't you come yourself?"29

"I was intimidated by your beautiful face." 30

What a line. He had used his brother. He had no problem with it, and I had no problem with beating him up. So I did, and I took his brother's hand and led him acroos the street where I was to meet Mermaid and Brooks. 31

"What is your name?"32

"Rin."33

"Rin? Is it Rin?"34

"No."35

"What shall I call you, then? I'm Lucy, what are you?"36

"Rin."37

"Okay, I'll call you Rin."38

"No." After a few minutes of this, Mermaid and River came, and we all went down to the water. I felt like going up to a cloud and looking down, so I could see what was going on. I was also dirty, so I wanted to take a shower, and I had to finish my homework (hahahahahahahahaha-right). We went around the town looking for something, and then I went home and took Rin with me. I sat at my desk, and thought about leaving home. 39

I was listening to "She's Leaving Home" by The Beatles-I wonder how it would feel to leave, and never come, and join a traveling act. I can juggle pretty well, Mermaid taught me. Of course, I would miss her. And my parents, they would kill themselves. So in a way, I'd be responsible for a few murders, and I'm guilty of enough already. I decided to stay in the town. I don't want to feel the guilt pushing down on my soul. Still I would enjoy being free from the world. Walruses could take Rin and I in, and we would grow fat with blubber. I'd still like to know what was going on, though.40

Great. How much of it was fictional? I'd hate to have the name mermaid. Once again, I love reading what you write and that says alot because I hate reading.
