“How can you help me?” Kevin asked, his voice in a sarcastic tone. His hair dipped in front of his face and he reached to the coffee table by the arm of his chair and grabbed the remote. He turned on the television and flipped through channels. Kevin stopped on a game show, he didn’t know the name of it but the music and bright colors fixated him. Aika laid back on the couch and sighed. Kevin glanced back at her then focused his attention back on the game show. “Well?” he asked.

“I’m thinking.” She replied. The angel twiddled her thumbs and looked at the ceiling. “Ah! I have an idea.” Immediately she leaned forward off of the couch and a file formed into her hands. It was a vanilla folder and on the label read: Storm, Kevin. Akia opened the file and pictures, letters, and other miscellaneous could be seen. Kevin turned in his chair and tried to peer into the folder. “Okay, let’s see what’s on your record that would make you go into such a deep depression.” She started to finger through the papers.

“I would rather you not called it a ‘deep depression’.” Kevin said, quietly, “There’s nothing wrong with me.”

“Hmmm, pulled the fire alarm when you were 7 in second grade, that cant be it.” The angel got up and started to walk around the living room. She ran through a few bad moments in this man’s life, but all seemed inconclusive. “Ah, what about this one? Your dog, Henry, died when you were 14.” Kevin gave Aika a sour face. He didn’t like that dog. It was his brothers. Plus, it would always growl at him every time he came near him. In response, Kevin shook his head. The game show had come to a close and a court show followed it. A woman was accusing a man of killing her cat. At that moment, a black Honda pulled into the driveway. It was David.

“Shit.” Kevin said. He got up out of his chair and ran to the door. Aika stood, not noticing the car pulling in.

“What?” she asked.

“Just, just go hide somewhere.” Kevin said, frantically.

“Um. Okay.” Aika said and instantly vanished in thin air. Kevin stared at the emptiness of the room for a second until the knock came at the door. He sighed at everything and opened the door. David stood on the porch, smiling awkwardly at Kevin. “Hey, man!” he said and allowed himself inside. David was an averaged sized man in his late twenties. He had black hair that didn’t go past his eyes, which were a faint emerald. Kevin envied him greatly. He had looks, money, a great life in general.

David sat down on the couch where Aika had previously sat and yawned. “So, Kev, what have you been up to?” he asked. Like he didn’t know, Kevin thought.

“Nothing.” He replied. He wanted to say, “Oh, nothing really, only that an angel just broke its wing on my lawn and now has to live with me until it gets better. And supposedly I will forget everything about it, so what’s the big deal?” but he knew that if he did say that, David would tie him up and take him to that therapist.

David looked around the living room at the mess that had accumulated in every nook and cranny. "You should really clean this place up before your date." Kevin froze.

"What..date?" Kevin asked. That was one thing he hated about David, he did things behind Kevin's back. Sign him up for the therapist, tell his mom everything, and now this? A date? Kevin hadnt thought about dates in 3 years. He kept himself secluded in his home so much that he rarely ever met girls, and if he did, he always let them down in some way.

David chuckled. "Yeah, man. If you would answer my calls more often I would tell you these things." Kevin was so mad at him right now, but he forced himself to calm down.

"When is it?" he asked, quietly. He settled down on the ottoman that was infront of his favorite chair. David looked at his watch.

"Uh, in about 2 hours." he replied. Kevin's eyes widened.

"What?! 2 hours? David...well, who is it?"

"Her name's Katylin Dale. You've never met her."

"Oh, so you set me up on a blind date?"

"Actually, she's really nice looking." A voice came from behind Kevin. It was the angel's. Even though she couldnt be seen, she had Katylin's file in her hands.

"Please, just, shut up okay?" Kevin said to her. David gave him a quizzical look.

"Kev, are you okay?" he asked.

"What, Im fine. Other than the fact that you set me up on a date with a girl I dont even know!" Kevin was standing up now. He walked into the kitchen. "Aahhrr!" he yelled. He passed the wooden dinning table and to a door that was in the back of the kitchen. He opened the door and took the two steps down into his bedroom. This was the only place in the house that he kept clean. Kevin opened the dresser drawer by his bed and pulled out a black "Ramones" shirt. In the drawer below that one, he pulled out a good pair of blue jeans. He removed his week old clothes that he was wearing and put on the new ones. He left the bedroom and passed through the living room, not even taking a glance at David, and walked down the hallway. Halfway he opened the door to the bathroom and turned on the light. He looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was tangled, going in every direction. Stubble covered his upperlip and chin. Why was he doing this? Because he didnt want to stand up another girl like he had done countless times before. Kevin grabbed his comb and ran it through his hair and decided that the stubble looked good anyway. He walked out of the bathroom and stood in front of David.

"This good enough?" he asked, still kind of irritated. David eyed him up and down.

"Yeah, the stubble's a good look for you." he got up and walked to the door. "Come on, we're going to be late if we stall anymore." David opened the door and Kevin soon followed. He grabbed his jacket before he closed the door.

Aika finally appeared again in the living room. She watched as the men got into the Honda and pulled away. She sighed, the brought Kevin's folder back out and began to rummage through it's contents once more.
