Wistfully she sighed as she looked at the blank paper. These words used to come so easily, she thought to herself. Looking up, she settled into her usualy routine of trying to count all the dots on the ceilling panels. Nothing came, and she continued to stare blankely, forgetting her task of describing volley ball in a two page long essay.1

"SORCHA!" the teachers voice rang clearly throughout the gym, making nearly all the students jump. "Eyes on your paper, and for once sit up!! This isn't nap time!" Her teacher glared and sat back down. 2

Sorcha turned  bright red, but didn't appear to hear the chorus of chuckles that surrounded her. She brushed her hair out of her eyes and sat up, trying to ignore everyone. 3

"Haha, busted!" came a voice from behind her. It was her first week ofPE, so she wasn't sure who he was. He wasn't handsome, but there was something pleasing about looking at him. He had what her mother called a "Jewish nose". The most noticable thing about him was his afro. On most other boys that would look stupid, she thought, but, it seems to work for him.4

"Next time i catch you with your eyes on something other than your paper, it's off to the principles," her teacher said warningly. Again she turned red and sat to face forward. A little while later, something poked her back, and a note landed on her desk. 5

'Hi, im harry.' It said in a messy scrawl, 'ur new, rite? dont u just hate mr. bilbastard?' Chuckling slightly at the nickname Harry had given her teacher, she nodded, then went back to trying to write her essay. After all, she thought to herself, it wouldn't do to go to the principle's office already.......6

After class, she caught up with Harry. "Hi, umm, Harry, right?"7

"That would be me, oh, and this is Jasmine," he said, pointing next to a tall asian girl next to him. Now that she was seeing him outside of his PE clothes, she had to try hard to stifle a laugh.8

Never would I hang out with him at my old school, he's so, alternative..... Sorcha thought to herself. The chinese girl too. I wonder if moving has changed me that much.9
