Fair well, last human.

I could feel the dent in my head where the brick had hit me. I got up and looked around, but nothing was there. I couldn't see anything alive at least. Rubble was everywhere, what had happened? I'll I could remember was a bright light and then, nothing. I started to walk down the road. I saw blood everywhere, planks of wood ripped off the houses around me, and people laying on the ground, dead. I kept walking though. As I made my way into town, there wasn't any buildings or cars, only rubble. Something had happened, something bad, but what? I ran back home, or what was left of it, and grabbed my flashlight that probablly didn't even work anymore. I sat on a board that had been ripped out from the wall. I could not think of anything. As I was getting up I saw something rising from the rubble. I slowly walked toward it, nothing was there. I shruged and started to walk away when something grabbed my leg. It flipped me into the air and I landed on top of an old couch. My back hurt as bad as Hell. I tried to get up again, but the thing pushed me back down again. I looked up, my dad? It was my dad, of all people my dad. Then I noticed something wierd, he didn't have any pupils. I screamed, and jumped off the couch backwards. Before I could get up again he had a gun pointed at me. My eyes widened, I couldn't understand what was going on. Right before he pulled the trigger I kicked him in the knee, which made the gun shoot upward. I stumbbled to my feet and ran. I felt something hard and cold hit my arm, a bullet, I had been shot. I fell to the ground, my arm hurt worse than my back. I screamed in pain. Something lifted me from the rubble, I didn't care if I died right there and then. But, nothing hurt, except my arm and back. I turned around, my best-friend Kimmy! "Hurry, follow me!" she screamed into my ear. Of corse I fallowed her, what else could I do? All of the sudden she was gone. I took one step farward and fell into a hole about 5 feet deep. I landed on my shoulder. Why wouldn't I just die? "You o.k.? Nasty things are going on out there, but can't figure what happened, you know?" she asked. I nodded. "Darn, I can find out what the hell is going on here!" she bellowed. "Maybe, the world ended and we are the only people left on Earth, or something." I wispered. "Come on Kyny, that's the best you could come up with?" she cried out. "Sorry," I said back. "What ever. Hey, what happened to your arm?" she looked worried. "Oh, I was shot in the arm." blood was going every which way it could go. I started to get light headed. "Stay here, I going to go see what's going on." she started out of the hole. After she had got all the way up she fell back down. On the other side on the hole, was where she had landed. I got to my feet and walked to her. She was bleeding out of her head and neck. I could tell she was shot, and was dead. I leaped back to the other side of the hole and sat down. The blood from my arm started to get gross and stick from the summer heat. I wiped most of it away. I dosed off for just a little while, and when I woke up I was being shot at. And was hit right in the side of the neck. "Pain, die Kyny, die," I thought. A person "zombie" jumped into the hole, and ask "Do you have any last words?" "Yes, what happened?" The zombie looked at me and wispered, "The world... has come to an end and everyone besides you is dead and zombified. So if we kill you then..." He gulped, "The world will have no meaning!" He pulled out a gun and shot me in the head. He saluted me and said "Fairwell, last human."

    kewl

    This is not only the end of the world but a great horror story. I've ssen lots of movies and books where zombies or alien body invaders have done some pretty creepy things, but there's always a few feisty humans to save the world. It's about time the zombies finally won! Best wishes in the contest.

    I like it! I think its a wonderfull short story. I like how you explain everything that is going on. How the charater doesn't know what really happened before she woke ip or whatever. I;m wondering what killed everything or who killed everything. You have a few misspelled words. bu thats allright! AWSOMELY GREAT STORY!

    More emotion and reaction is needed opposed to just focusing on the basal physical aspects.
    The brick hit your narrator in the head - how would she had responded to that? Would she not be in the least bit dizzy?
    Her friend just *died*. Wouldn't she scream or something? Would her hand at least shake as she wiped the blood from her own arm?
    Dozing on its own implies a relaxing, summery sleep, and while it *is summer, there is *no relaxation. How about a fitfull sleep? With disturbing dreams? perhaps she weeps and dozes because she can't take anymore right now.
    You also should put your stories into paragraphs.
    You've got a few mistakes -

    Fair well --> farewell
    riseing --> rising
    werse --> worse
    exsecpt --> except
    fallow --> follow
    gotin --> got in
    zombiefide --> zombified

    I am honsetly glad that you have decided to enter my contest. I believe that with a few adjustments and minor changes (as well as a beta reader) that this story would go far. I'm sure that reading it again after you wrote it, or even running it through Microsoft Word would help you clear up most spelling errors. I will read all entries again before the Final Judgement, so if you decide to edit things, they will be taken into consideration and you will have a better chance at earning a placement.

    I'd like to thank you once again for entering this contest, and I wish you the best of luck.
