Wind vs. Cthulhu, Part II

"Oh," Wind said, trying to hide a bit of surprise as he gazed at immensity of Cthulhu, his brown shoulder-length hair gusting in the breeze. Wind was only six feet four inches tall, while Cthulhu clocked in at an impressive twenty five thousand feet. "I seemed to have underestimated the situation."

Cthulhu cocked his (Wind just decided that Cthulhu was male) head at Wind, seeming to be puzzled. Wind knew why, seeing as most mortal men perish at the mere sight of this Great Old One.

"Well, Squiddy, hate to break it to you, but I am far from being mortal. Not a god per se, but I have gained the ability of jumping through dimensions, so close enough..." Wind was rudely interrupted by Cthulhu, a huge claw pounded forward with alarming speed and strength. Wind decided it may be time to live up to his nickname as he dodged out of the way with a forward roll.

The green claw smashed into gray stone path that Wind had spent millenia searching for, bits of rock spraying in all directions. As soon as Wind touched back to the ground, he bent his knees and thrust himself upward toward Cthulhu. He angled the Murasame and cut deep into Cthulhu's stomach, digging in a seven foot gash.

Cthulhu's midsection alone was four hundred feet in height.

Wind set his feet down on the alien's upper belly and kicked himself to the left arm, angling the blade of the katana down. He intended on going over the arm, and he in fact accomplished this goal. He didn't think it would work this well.

When the black blade of the Murasame connecting with the thick forearm, the blade got stuck halfway through the gelatinous goop. Seeing as that the three laws of motion were still in effect, Wind continued to travel forward, making the sword saw through Cthulhu's arm.

The gargantuan limb plummeted at the ground, which was about three miles away, with Wind following in close pursuit. Wind shifted his body so his feet were down and created a small void in the fabric of spacetime, falling in that instead. He instantly popped out at Cthulhu's feet and charged at his ankles.

It was then Wind realized that he was no longer in possession of the black Murasame, as it was falling toward the ground at an accelerating speed.

Because he made this discovery so late, he was unable to control his stopping ability and careened into the right ankle of Cthulhu. He bounced off harmlessly, standing almost as soon as he hit the ground. Doing some quick mental math as he drew the silver Murasame katana, he knew he had a few minuted before the other blade returned to the surface. He needed to survive long enough to get that blade back to even the odds in this battle.

Not like it mattered a whole lot, seeing as the fraction of a second cost Wind everything. Cthulhu raised the foot he was standing next to and was kicked savagely across the field of roses. The plane that the two beings were on was only two miles in diameter, and at the speed Wind was kicked made him cross it twice before he smashed into the Dark Tower.

He hit the Tower with enough force to liquefy another man's bones, but as established earlier, Wind was not normal. He slammed into the roses, his exposed hands and face getting cut up badly. His left eye was also punctured in the fall, causing his vision to decrease by a bit.

Wind stood shakily and ambled back to the other side of the Dark Tower to see what Cthulhu was up to. When he got around, he saw that the alien creature was watching his every move. His stump began to quiver and a brand new arm erupted from the gap. Then a terrible voice filled his head.

'Where are we?' It was a rather simple question coming from a being that was only a few ranks short of attaining omnipotence. 'Are we in R'lyeh?"

"No," Wind answered, his head banging from the voice of Cthulhu. "I destroyed your precious city about a thousand years ago. You had been moved by your Star-Spawn to this plane, Calisnor."

'And where is this plane?' Wind brain wanted to exit his body so bad that it almost did.

"It's where all of the dimensions crossover, right in the middle. Apparently, there is only a finite amount of space in all of the multiverses." He wasn't able to say much more as the pain rocketed through his brain some more.

'I must leave you now. I must reclaim the universe.' Cthulhu lifted his great wings and lifted into the air. Wind wanted to go after him so bad that he wanted to call on the Force to boost his power, but he was too far from that point in the universe.

As Cthulhu disappeared from view, Wind collapsed from sheer mental exhaustion. He was prepared for seeing Cthulhu, but the voice was even worse than he imagined. As he panted on the ground, he heard something explode very close by.

As he pondered what it was, bits of green goo flecked his cheek. As he struggled to wipe his face, the Murasame stabbed into the ground next to his body.

"Just from this one little battle," Wind said aloud as his left eye regenerated and the cuts on his body healed, "I can tell I'm really fucked."

    interesting

if cthulhu is 200 stories high, then his arms around likely be at least one story thick, and wind cut through that with a sword.

part one seemed so serious that part two seems like something of a joke.

also why did cthulhu awaken?did wind wake him up? just to fight him?

he was slammed in the tower and that didn't hurt him, but the roses did?

it is an interesting idea but you have to decide whether you want a somewhat serious story or not.

also, why did cthulhu explode at the end?

i don't think you really did justice to the cthulhu mythos with this story. but it could have been worse.

    keep on writing

    beginning: 1, language: 2, plot: 2, ending: 1, dialog: 1, characters: 3.

I wanted the mood to be a bit lighter and show a bit of Winds personality a bit before he gets serious. Something that I wrote in the prolouge that I didn't post because I didn't like it, and am turning that into part III, was that Wind thought that if he fought Cthulhu before he reached full strength, he could stop him and do some other stuff in the process. It also gives some reasoning as to why he didn't take the fight seriously. As it turned out, he was way wrong. Cthulhus body still hadn't completely formed, so his arms were not at it's full size, yet. Also, the reason Wind cut through the arm so effectively was because of what the Murasame is made of. It's made out of Azatoth and in the Mythos he is the God of Gods. Albeit stupid, but the head honcho nonetheless. Also, that was Cthulhu's arm that exploded as it hit the ground. I put that in so because I almost forgot about the arm before I posted it. This is going to be the last true lighthearted chapter of this story that I write, I just wanted to get it out of the way early so I didn't screw up the tension later when Wind has to start dimension hopping to find Cthulhu. Oh, the Tower didn't hurt Wind because technichally, it isn't really there. It sits on the exact point where all universes cross, so it has a warped reality, being there but at the same time not. That's why there was no physical damage to Wind or the Tower. The roses are real, though.
