Demented

I haunt you, stalking you for months, years if needed. You will never see me following you; you will never see me, period. I am invisible to you, as you can not bear to see the twisted image that is my hate reflected in your mind. You are beautiful, and for that I hate you. I see you, but I cannot have you. I love you, but you hate me now.
And for this, you will pay. I follow you wherever you go. I have been in your apartment, I have been everywhere. But you do not know me now; no will you ever see me. You fear me like you have never feared anything in your life.
The day I decide to kill you, the day my hate for you consumes me, I follow you into a public bathroom within your very own high school. You still cannot see me, though we are surrounded in mirrors. But when I whisper your name, the hair on the back of your neck stands up and you shiver. Your fearful eyes dart around the room, but you see nothing. This does nothing to ease your worries, as you know I am there. Your fear is heightened by your inability to put a face to what scares you so.
I walk up behind you, not bothering to conceal my echoing footsteps in the empty room. Before you can turn, I put my hands around your neck and you feel the chill of my hands to the very core of your mortality.
You freeze instantly, and even your heart stops for a moment, but you are alive and, had you not been paralyzed by fear, you could have run. But I control you now and you can do nothing about it. Your body tries desperately to replace the heat that is lost through my touch.
I lean in close and you feel my breath stir the air by your ear, whispering.
"Run” and I release you. For a second you do nothing, but then panic fills your eyes and you take a few halting steps before all out running into the wall of mirrors before you. The glass shatters and there are numerous cuts all over your body. None are deep enough to kill you, or even deep enough to scar, would you live that long.
Dazed, you sit up and try to comprehend what has happened. Realization dawns on your face and you frantically search the room. But you cannot see me. Fear clouds your eyes, making you blind.
I walk up to you, my footstep a solid sound after the insubstantial ringing of shattering glass. Even with the sound to help you, you know not where I am. I stoop and plant a kiss on your bloody lips, the last you will ever receive.
Once again I put my hands to your neck, pressing until you fall limp on the floor. Not to worry, though, you will wake again soon enough.
I rid you of your clothes, and lay you out on the floor. I pull a sterling-silver spoon, dull with blood, out of my shirt and press it beneath your eyes. In one quick motion your eye lies upon the spoon. I do the same to the other eyes, blinding you. When you awake seconds later you scream, but I know it doesn't hurt.
You cannot rise from the floor, so strong is your fear of me, and I quickly finish what I came here to do.
Using the same weapon, I cut you open as one would be cut open during an autopsy. I peel the skin back, revealing all internal organs. I watch your heart beat strongly, still fascinated though this is not the first time I have done this. I cup your heart in my hands, knowing I now have complete control over your life. Or death. Then, so you cannot have the luxury of bleeding to death, I slowly clench my fist until the life is stilled.
I stand, unfazed, and building. This murder, like so many before it, will remain unsolved as I do not exist. At least, not in your minds, which are so compelled by fear that you couldn’t recall my face had you just passed me on the street.

Very disturbing...interesting....not sure about the ending yet...I must re-read a couple more times to see how the ending fits. I like first person stories since you only know what the main character knows. Very cool and violent.

    oh...my...gah...

I came across this story arbitrarily, and now I'm glad I did. At first, I was just looking for a read, and then I became enthralled. I'm very interested in this mysterious existing/non-existing murderer. It seems that it would make a good series. I want to read more More MORE!!! Kudos, many kudos!!!! well done!!!!

well if that wasn't a bit creepy then i don't know what is.....though i did like it.....if had a choice to actually do this to someone and get away with it who do you think would be your victim......and it has to someone besides sadie because it is obvious that she would be the one......

Wow that was AWESOME! I love blood and guts, and the way you described, or rather didn't describe, just made this story so much better! Good job, and good luck.
