"Once upon a time, the tooth fairy was a sweet, innocent creature. He would pick up extra teeth from children who had lost them (to make tooth shoes for needy children in Africa) and replace them with coins, or dollar bills, depending on the need of the child.
"But, one night, it all went terribly wrong.
"The tooth fairy went to the house of Vlad Dracul, otherwise known as Dracula. Everything went well, until Vlad woke up in his coffin, scaring the poor little tooth fairy. In a frenzy, the fairy fell from the air, landing on the tooth.
"So, now, every time someone loses a tooth, a blood sucking tooth fiend whips into their house in the middle of the night to collect the person's blood for his own personal use, though he still makes tooth shoes that are sold on e-bay for thousands of dollars."
Dad finished his story as I shivered uncontrollably in my blankets, all too aware of the tooth I had placed beneath my pillow.
"Anyway, sweetie," he said, standing up and walking toward the door. "Good Night."
With that, he flicked off the light.
Author notes
I heard a joke with this basic storyline, so I expanded it slightly to make an enjoyable bed time story. Hope you like it!

This is an interesting story with a creative but strange twist, but it's a little short! Very original, though. Good luck in the contest.

Bravo!
Came here this morning and read ya story before going to work and submitted a Comment that got poofed in a system error.
I am home from work and will try again. My Daddy would always come to my bed at night after I lost a tooth and fumble under my pillow to leave the money. He was not very secretive about it. I once thought he might as well write a check and present it to me for all the inept fumbling. It was those magic times. The loss of a tooth and the gathering of a quarter or two.
I guess you are the story teller in ya family. I guess ya inherited the gift from ya dad. A great story.

Very short but very enjoyable. Good plot and nice voice in the narration. I like the twist in the end and how you made the toothfairy a male instead of a female. Nice work and good luck in the contest!
