In With the New (in progress)

It was a rainy New Years Eve night. The clock read 7:30 as 18-year-old Heather O'Brien tried to find her way through the congested streets of the busy city. A slight right and immediate left later, she was pulling in front of her friend Jason's house. Loud music, something that sounded like Disturbed, blasted from the building. She laughed as she walked through the door.

"Oh my God!!! MEG?!?!" a loud voice shrieked. Meaghan turned around to see her ex-best friend Serena staring a her. "Oh wow, I haven't seen you since October!"

"That's because you decided to ignore me and the rest of your friends," Heather whispered, and walked by the perky blonde to where Jason sat.

"Hey there, Heather, sorry about Serena, but she's kind of dating my brother," Jason said giving her a hug.

"That's OK, I'm really good at ignoring people."

"Here, take a seat."

"I'm not going to take your seat, Jason."

"Sit before I beat you," he laughed pushing her onto the couch, nearly into the guy sitting next to him.

"I am so sorry," Heather said to the guy, laughing and pushing Jason back.

"That's alright, you couldn't hurt me if you tried," the guy laughed.

"Oh really?"

"Not much does, one cute little girl trying to 'hurt' me won't even phase me."

"You talk pretty tall, for such a short guy," Heather said, looking at him. He was attractive, a little taller than her, probably 5'6". He had long brown hair and bright blue eyes. He wore a black AC/DC band tee and jeans with black converse.

"I'm taller than you right? You look, what, 5 feet?" he said, taking in her appearence as she was taking in his. She had long black hair and dark brown eyes. She was wearing jeans and a red cami with a black mesh shirt over it. He couldn't help admitting to himself that she was beautiful.

"I'm Heather."

"Jeff, nice to meet you Heather."

The two talked for a few more minutes before Jason came back.

"Hey guys, my brother's friends are kind of taking over down there. You guys want to go up to my room and hang out?"

"Sure, sounds like a plan," they replied and followed him and his girlfriend Meaghan up the stairs. Jason and Meaghan sat in the middle of the room playing a card game while Heather and Jeff watched them from the bed. They laughed and joked for hours, quarelling and bantering between the two. Jason and Meaghan glanced at each other knowingly and left the room to get some food, leaving them alone.

"So, are you seeing anyone?" Jeff asked, glancing over at her.

"Me? Hahahaha, no. I'm apparently not the dating type."

"I don't see why not."

"Don't tell me that. I may actually believe it. What about you? Are you seeing anyone?"

"Well, first of all, you should believe it and second of all, no. I'm not. I haven't been too lucky in the relationship department. I don't think I've ever really had a serious relationship, or at least not one that lasted for more than two weeks."

"Really? I don't see why that would be.. you don't seem like the type to not have a girlfriend... I would..."

"What would you do?"

"Nothing. Just rambling..."

"Hey, I've got a question to ask you."

"Shoot."

"I would like you to help me keep my New Years Resolution."

"That wasn't a question... but OK."

"You don't even know what it is."

"Tell me then."

"My Resolution is to have an actual relationship with a good girl. Do you think you can help me with that?"

"... ummm... well... I mean... Yes, I can, or at least, I can try."

"Good," he said with a smile, leaning toward her. They were interuptted by Jason calling up to them.

"Come on down you two! It's almost midnight!"

Jeff and Heather ran down the stairs and into the living room.

"5...4...3...2...1... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!" the party screamed over the loud Metallica playing in the background.

Jeff grabbed Heather's hand and turned her towards him. She looked into his blue eyes, watching as he came toward her. He kissed her lightly, smiling.

"That's it?" she asked.

He laughed and pulled her toward him in a strong embrace, kissing her passionately. Heather noticed that Serena was glaring at her and she laughed and hugged him tightly. It was the best New Year of her entire life.

Author notes

This story is based off of real people and real (somewhat) events in my life. It is certainly vague at the moment, but that is only because I am currently observing the people and how they act to make them more realistic to my friends' actions and such. i will definately be adding more as my observations become more complete.

it's bits and pieces of real life... ane still in progress :)

Ah, love. It was a very cute story. It was kind of vague, and I think that you should write a little more to it, but other than that, I liked it. Good job.

Im glad you like it. I'm definately going to add more. It's based in part due to real life all the characters are real people, with a few name chages, so I have to develope them using the observations I've taken frommy friends and I'll definately add more of the events. (and more detail.. )

Pretty good. You could add a little more detail to the people, I couldn't really believe in them much, and it could have taken a bit longer for the two to get involved if you know what I mean. But this is great! I love romance!

I am planning on adding more detail. The people are based on actual friends of mine and I'm taking from little observations and real life experience. so this one will be changing and grown gradually, probably adding a few days in there and stuff like that. thanks for the comment. I'll have to let you know when the story is whole and actually complete :-D
