Kevin sat in his old wicker chair on his front porch, staring down at a leaf by his socked feet. The spring air blew his long, diry blonde hair over his face, concealing his saddenss. For the past year his life was filled with laziness, take out food, and monthly showers. Kevin was starting to believe that depression was going to control the rest of his life. Surprisingly, it didnt bother him. He had a few things that took the pain away. Most of the time he didnt have enought money for them, but he managed somehow to pay. He even told himself that he would even give his soul to the devil to get what he needed for his sickness.

A lone butterfly landed on the tip of Kevin's foot, and only this once did his eyes leave the sight of the leaf. He kept his feet still and watched as the insect rested its wings. It hurt him, and he didnt know why. She liked butterflies. He said to himself. As he sighed, the butterfly fluttered off into the sky. Kevin followed it with his eyes until it was out of view.

Kevin jumped as his phone rang. He usually left it out on the porch during the spring because he spent most of his time out there. He let it ring, letting the answering machine pick it up. On the final ring, the machine clicked and began to record.

"Hey, Kevin. It's me, Dr. Sandra. Just wanted to tell you that you had another therapist appointment today, which you missed. Now, this is the fifth time this month and I keep rescheduling because I truley believe that you can get through this.." at that moment, Kevin picked up the phone.

"Why do you keep calling?" he asked, his voice raspy.

"Oh, Kevin. Surprised you actually picked up this time. Im tired of talking to a machine." Dr. Sandra said.

"Why do you keep calling?" Kevin repeated. All he wanted was to hear was the answer.

"Because your so persistent, I keep calling because, as I said, I believe you can make it through this is."

"Stop calling me." he said and hung up. Kevin's friend David was the one who had signed him for a therapist. He didnt believe that they helped. He let his head fall to his chest. He sighed heavily. "All I need is a miracle." he said.

At that moment, everything fell quiet, then a thumped filled Kevin's ears. He looked up. Something...or someone, was laying in his front yard.

    Intriguing

You pulled me in. I want to know more! Nice character work. I look forward to seeing where this goes. Maybe work on technical errors (apostophes and such) to make it easier to read. Otherwise flows very nicely and mysteriously.
