Bump in the night

"What would you say if i told you there is more to this world than what you see? That in the darkness there does lurk something else?" The man looked at the petite girl sitting in the chair on the other side of his desk.

"Two weeks ago, I would have said that you were completely nuts, But now... I don't know what to believe" She smiled and unsure smile "I just keep hoping this is all an unwanted Nightmare"

"Unfortunately for you, the creatures that lurk in the dark have decided that you are their next... Ruler, and we need to stop them from taking you"

"I understand"

"Now would you care to tell me what happened before we found you?"

Two Weeks Earlier

"Watch where you're going" A brunette snapped at a petite blonde in a pair of dark jeans and a royal purple singlet, "Loser"

The Blonde looked at her shoes and continued walking

"Hey, Autumn, wait up, Just had another run in with Emily I see, you know, I don't know why you don't just stand up to her" An attractive guy said to her, He was tall, Muscular and had black hair, with to-die-for green eyes.

"You know why i don't, Jess, it's just not worth drawing the attention to myself, we finish up in three weeks anyway, and then i never have to see her again"

"Yeah whatever, so, you wanna come round tonight to help me with my maths homework... we could even fit in some kissing before my folks get home?"

Jessie was Autumn's boyfriend of a year.

"yeah, walk together after school?"

"Great see ya then" Jessie kissed the top of Autumn's head and ran off across the school courtyard.

Autumn sighed to herself, thinking about graduation, and escaping the people that had tormented her all her life.

"Autumn" Emily was walking across the yard towards her, "you totally ripped my shirt when you knocked me earlier, do you know how much this cost?"

Autumjn looked at her conversed feet "Sorry I'll fix it"

"Not good enough" Emily pushed Autumn backwards into the wall, "you better buy me a new one"

"But I can't... I'll fix it, but i can't get you a new one" Autumn protested

"Bullshit, you can pay for a new one... or else"

As Emily turned to walk away, Jessie's words returned to Autumn, asking why it was she never stood up for herself.

"No, Emily... I won't Buy a new one, I graciously offered to fix a tear I'm not sure even exists"

Emily whirled, a shocked look on her face, "Why you..." And slapped Autumn across the face,

Autmn staggerd with the blow, she had never been hit before, She tasted blood, and everything turned a strange shade of red, right before she blacked out.

Autumn woke up in the nurses office with a pounding headache.

The nurse walked over,

"Good, your awake, the principal wishes to see you.'

"what...What happened?"

"You broke miss Ryan arm in two places, but she says she never saw you touch her, although she is concussed, so not alot of what she has to say makes alot of sense"

"oh, ok" Autumn stood up and made her way towards the principals office

"And that was the first time it happened"

"I see, you just blacked out after this girl hit you?"

"Yes"

"Do you remember thinking anything?"

"no, but i did write in my diary that i wanted to hurt her, make her hurt, like she hurt me all these years"

"alright" The man made a note on his pad "When did it happen next?"

Autumn and Jessie were walking home hand in hand,

"I can't believe that you, You, got into a fight, right after telling me that you were just waiting till you never had to see her again, and that you don't remember anything"

"Yeah, well" Autumn blushed

"It's so cute when you do that" Jessie smiled, and leaned down to kiss her.

"Jess, not here, let's just go home, ok?"

"hmm, sure" But he looked disapointed, and put his arm around her waist.

A moment later they had been tackled to the ground by a large man,

"What the hell?" Jessie yelled

'i am sorry mistress Autumn" The man said in a deep tone "I did not injure you, if I did, then please, punish me"

"Dude, back the hell away from my girlfriend" Jessie said, an angry tone in his voice

"Jessie..." Autumn said warningly

"Shutup human" the man yelled at Jessie, knocking him aside like a rag doll, and rushing to Autumns side, gently helping her stand,

"I said step off" Jessie yelled, running at the man.

In a split instant, almost a quick as you could blink, the man moved and jessie was laying on the ground, blood gurgling from his mouth, and a pool of it forming aroung the hole that was once his chest.

"NOOOOOO" Autumn screamed, and once again everything turned that same shade of red she had seen earlier, Only this time, she didn't black out,

Autumn reached out her hands and grabbed the mans head, giving an almighty wrench, ripped it off his shoulders.

"And ever since, I have been locked away here, sedated, only ever leaving my cell to have these visits with you" She lifted her arms, to show them chained to the seat

"I'm sorry about that, but we have to make sure you're safe, that everyone here is safe, that is all for tonight, I believe their is some dinner in your room for you" the man smiled,"I believe today was to be your graduation ceremony"

"yes, and I spent it locked up in here"

"We have to find out why they want you"

The blonde giggled, "I know why they want me"

"Oh, do you? then please share it with me, It will save us all alot of time"

"no, this is my secret, But I'll tell you another secret, lean in"

the man leaned towards her

"I broke your shackles" and with that, the blonde punched her hand through the mans chest, leaving him gasping on the floor,

"thanks, but I think I'll be claiming my kingdom now"

A petite, lonely figure drenched in blood walked toward a small group of creatures, a burning mansion in the background, Her eyes blood red and her hair blonde.

"It's not a nightmare anymore" She smiled as the creatures bowed before her "It's reality"
