Return Of Poe

I was setting reading, not really heeding, the Bible book of Revelation, when I got this odd sensation,1

So I jumped up standing, while the Bible I was handling, I walked across the wooden floor, so I could answer the knock at my front door2

As I opened the door toward me, it was much to dark to see, I turned the porch light on, only to see the knocker had gone3

I returned to my desk chair, thinking no one had been there, trying to remember what the Bible4

had to say, before the door knocking lured me away5

I began to settle down, when upon my face there formed a frown, because there came another knock at my door, so I went to open and look out once more6

I looked and looked seeing no one any where, when quietly up my sidewalk came a rather odd pair, so odd were they I just stood there glaring, though I know it's not proper to stand there staring7

I couldn't help but look into the night, thinking this truly is an odd sight, the pair was a man slowly walking, on his shoulder a bird was talking8

What the bird was saying I couldn't hear, it seemed to be whispering in the man's ear, as they came9

up close to me, I could tell who they were to be10

It was beyond my wildest dream, the two that I had seen, this wouldn't happen in a million years, no matter if came because of ones hope or even fears11

The man standing in my room, no one would ever presume, that it was Edgar Allan Poe, the bird was a raven black as coal12

I asked him if he was alive or dead, this is what Edgar Allan Poe said, this coal black raven has talked to me, for correct answers the right question is the key13

So ask of me what you want to know, the raven squawked "NEVER MORE," what does this bird have to say, from your time to my day14

Well he bodes from ancient lore, again the raven squawked "NEVER MORE," I began to chill at my15

very core, then another squawk of "NEVER MORE"16

What is "NEVER MORE" I shouted, then Edgar Allan Poe surmounted, by what right did I have to shout, as Edgar Poe began to walk about17

Speaking forth words of rhyme, from a bygone time, as he walked my floor, the raven squawked "NEVER MORE"18

A tale is never what it seems, as I awoke from my dreams, I went to open my front door, and thought I faintly heard "never more"19
