The Gateway

From beyond my imagination
Where doves fly free,
Like crows in their disguise,
Hearts black as the raven,
And dead with such cold.1

Through the gateway,
An arch of so much thorn,
Like the crown I wore upon my brow,
Green with envy,
And poison with such lust.2

The mazes led me here
To a river I once knew--
Innocence, tainted with rust,
Red in its own luminescence,
And rippled with broken dreams.3

A single fire burns,
Elucidates my path,
Isolated from the darkness within,
White with intensity,
And braves where naught else will tread.4

The azure sky, lined with ice,
That only the moon can bless,
Like a Goddess shimmering down,
Silver in its own brilliance,
And defying what lies ahead.5

This is a very interesting poem full of nice fantasy imagery. It's like a dream. The flow was kept throughout the whole piece. Good job! Thanks for entering the contest and good luck!
