Chapter 3 – Dominic 1

I wish I could be like a bird in the sky2

How sweet it would be if I found I could fly3

Well I'd soar to the sun and look down at the sea 4

I knew there was going to be a fight the second I arrived at the skate park. I could see it on Jay and Ria faces. I knew it. Jay looked like he could kill and Ria well…She looked like Ria, and the fact they were standing as far away from each other possible, just made me more suspicious. There was no way I was getting on Ria’s bad side so early in the morning. I believe that if people want you to interfere in their argument they’ll talk to you. I wasn’t going to get involved. I walked up to Jade. She was looking kind of lost between the hate being channeled between Jay and Ria. 7

“Hi.” I said quietly “ Wanna go for a walk?” 8

“Oh hey Dom. Yeh sure. You made it then?” replied Jade9

“Yeh…Mom said to bring her some milk and the paper back and then she let me go. What’s up with those two?” I pointed towards Jay and Ria and dropped my voice down to a whisper as we walked by. 10

“Ah. They had another argument about 5 minutes ago. Luckily they seemed to have stopped”11

“Another?”12

“Yeh, they had one last night too. It was about me, you know… moving to America”. Jade smiled weakly13

“Oh…erm I’m sorry” 14

Jade and I arrived at a tree. We sat down. There was shouting coming from the ramps. 15

“It’ll work out…don’t’ worry Jade,” I said with false enthusiasm. I mean when Jay and Ria fights, all hell brakes loose, even though they rarely fought at all. But like I wasn’t gonna tell Jade that was I? You don’t need someone to tell you; you look really bad, when you know you do yourself already do you?16

“I know,” she sighed. She looked so sad. I felt so awkward. I had to do something…but I didn’t know what, so I placed my arm around her and pulled her in, she didn’t seem to mind so I didn’t move my arm.17

“YOU BASTARD YOU DON’T EVEN CARE!” 18

“I DO. YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I CARE FOR HER”19

“IF YOU DID, YOU’D BE A LITTLE SAD ABOUT HER LEAVING! YOU COULD SHOW SOME FEELINGS YOU KNOW. IT WOULDN’T KILL YOU!”20

“I AM!”21

“WELL YOU GOT A FUNNY WAY OF SHOWING IT”22

I felt Jade stiffen against me and I thought about taking my arm away, but she was crying. There was a glistening tear on her eye and she looked so beautiful but so sad.23

“I hate it when they fight over me,” she said softly24

“I know… I’m sorry Jade. Want me to have a word with Jay?” I felt so awkward. 25

“Nah…” 26

When she said that I could hear the pain in her voice. I touched her arm to reassure her, but she flinched27

and jumped up. I got up.28

“I’m sorry…I didn’t mean…” I spluttered29

“Its okay” She turned around and I looked towards Ria and Jay. Jay was storming towards me with a cut on his head bleeding and Ria was walking towards Jade. I saw Jude and Raquel in the corner of my eye. They’d just arrived and were walking towards me with utter confusion on their faces. 30

Jay finally got to me. 31

“Where you been man?” he demanded32

“Right here, with your girlfriend trying to stop her from crying while you and little miss spoilt were flirting with each other!!” I felt my self getting annoyed which hardly ever happens33

“She isn’t my girlfriend…But is where is Jade?”34

“Sure she isn’t and pigs are flying…I’ve seen you guys behind the bike shed. She’s over there with Ria,” I pointed and turned to look. They were both hugging and crying. Ria said something and they walked towards us. 35

I sat down and so did Jay, Jude and Raquel. We waited for the girls to reach us and then we decided what we were gonna do for the rest of the day. The original plan was to go shopping but we decided on the cinema. Jay decided he’d rather go home, so him and jade (no surprise there) went home and Ria didn’t really want to come without Jade so she went home too. It was just me, Jude and Raquel. I filled them in on the whole “Jade – Ria – Jay” thing and we went to see a film. It was pretty good…or at least that’s what Raquel said. All I could think about was Jade and how beautiful she looked. But that wasn’t right. Jay and Jade were together…No matter how they tried to hide it, it was obvious…Well to me anyway… She looked fine; even now I can’t stop thinking about her…But…36
