Daydreamer

It has been a normal day for me.1

I wake up at 6.30 still immersed in my dream. Images flow by like clouds on a stormy day. I dress dreaming of faraway places, turrets and spires imprinted in my mind. 2

I eat breakfast buried in a book. Tears fall into my cup of tea as the heroine falls for the charms of evil.3

I run for the tram without seeing the cars. They are the Éored galloping past towards Gondor. The mists of Avalon part for my entranced mind as I push open the school gate.4

Lessons pass in a blur as formulars and fractions turn into mazes, monsters and forests. Trees surround me as I fight to reach the light. In every free second I am buried in my book.5

My mind is everywhere, except where my body is. I hear my voice give answers, but I don't remember the question. 6

This is the real me. The deep me. The innermost self that has fled reality. Fled bullying. Fled worries. Books give me peace, for they give me a freedom I can never have. 7

I fly with Eragon, climb the High Kimbi or sail the Atlantic. I explore unknown planets, discover the dragon's nest and find the cure to a pandemic.8

My imagination soars beyond the stars as I walk home remembering the elation when the quest was fulfilled.9

At home I eat without knowing what it it. I taste Lembas and Jaco, fresh herbs and exotic spices. Mechanically I do assignments, yearning for the time to begin a new story. Finally I have finished and dive into intrigues, mysteries and fantasy worlds.10

There is no end to imagination. It is everywhere with me at its centre. I'm dead to the world as I continue reading. Why do I need friends, when I have people with me all the time? I do not need other people, when all I need is a brain - to imagine things beyond belief and reality.11

As my eyes close late that night, it is only to fall into the world of dreams I left not long ago.12

It has been a normal day for me. Tomorrow will be just the same, as everything starts anew.

Author notes

It's weird, I know. But I was just sort of doodling and voilá
