One thing leads to another

The Bet

“So, James, how long was the list of adjectives that Evans gave you this time? I want to add it to the list that I've started,” Sirius Black asked nonchalantly as he stirred his cauldron and brushed his long black hair from his face.

“What d’ya mean ‘this time’?” asked James Potter.

“Hogsmeade weekend. You NEVER fail to ask her out when a Hogsmeade weekend comes up, and you NEVER fail to mope around for the rest of the weekend when she rejects you,” Sirius sighed as his potion turned a beautiful pearl white. James quickly slipped away from his bench and walked to the front bench where a fellow seventh year Gryffindor was working without battering an eyelid. For Lily Evans, potions was as easy as breathing, as with every other aspect of her life.

“Hey Evans, will you go to Hogsmeade with me this weekend?” whispered James placing his hand on her shoulder.

“Get lost Potter before I stuff this puffer fish down your throat,” responded Lily without turning away from her cauldron.

“Love you too sweetheart,” muttered James, walking away after yet another rejection. “Ouch,” he cried as Lily kept to her promise of throwing her puffer fish at him, though not down his throat, thankfully. He turned around to see Lily smirking as she stirred her 'Elixir to Induce Euphoria'.

“Hey Potter,” whispered Travis Davies, a Ravenclaw seventh year as he walked past him.

“What do you want Davies?” snarled James. He hated Travis because he was the Ravenclaw Quidditch captain and Seeker and he also liked Lily. Unlike James, however, he never ended up on the receiving end of Lily’s frequent tempers.

“I got a bet for you,” Travis finished, studying James’ reaction. He was not disappointed when James responded with a sneer.

“What kind of bet?”

“I bet you that I can get Lily to kiss me in front of the whole school without her backing down or cursing me before you can,” proposed Travis.

“What? Lily would never be desperate enough to kiss you… Just out of interest though, what would the winner get?” James wanted to make it quite clear that he had far more respect for Lily than Davies.

“A bottle of firewhisky?” suggested Travis.

“Lily is worth more than that!” insisted James.

“Potter, whoever wins will already have Lily for themselves! That’s a fair prize on its own; the Firewhisky would be a bonus! And I’ll tell you what; we will throw in a bottle of redcurrant rum ok? Happy?” Travis was growing impatient with James and his defiant attitude. Travis was only doing this to annoy him. He knew he would win this bet, have his way with Lily and then dump her, and there was nothing Potter could do to stop him.

“Deal, but Lily has to kiss the winner in plain sight of the rest of the school ok?” James knew what Davies was up to and he would do whatever necessary to ensure that the scumbag in front of him didn’t hurt Lily.

“No objections from me, however, when Lily does kiss me you can’t curse me,” smirked Travis.

“We’ll see who will want to curse whom,” muttered James as he went back to his own bench.

“What was that all about with Davies?” Sirius inquired as James returned to their bench and started violently smashing his scarab beetles into a fine powder.

“Nothing,” seethed James.

“What happened,” asked Remus Lupin, James’ other best mate, “and don’t tell me that it’s nothing.”

“Davies and I have a bet going and if I don’t win Lily could get seriously hurt,” James mumbled while staring at his shoes.

“What do you mean that Lily could get seriously hurt?” asked an anxious Remus as the bell rang. They went up to the Marauders dormitory. Peter sat on his bed and played with his quidditch models while Sirius and Remus tried to calm James.

Jame sighed, collapsed on Sirius's bed and explained to his two best friends about the conversation that had just occured between Travis and himself during potions.

“How does Lily get hurt with that, if she doesn’t know the bet exists, then she wont scream and slap you for it,” Sirius couldn’t understand what James was so worried about.

“Davies is bound to win and when he does, I don’t think he’s very interested in Lily for her personality,” snarled James.

“Why?” Sirius persisted

“Geez Padfoot, You know Davies, When he wins, chances are he’ll go out with Lily only long enough to get what he wants out of it, and then he will dump her, leaving her humiliated and heartbroken,” James had taken up pacing around Remus and Sirius’ dormitory.

“He wouldn’t try forcing her into that would he?” croaked a gobsmacked Remus.

“I’ll kill him if he tries anything. If you’re not around to kill him yourself that is,” Sirius said, trying to calm James down with little success.

“How are we going to know? Lily won’t be willing to tell anyone,” James was worried and didn’t know what to do.

“You know what we got to do then, don’t you?” Sirius said, looking at James.

“What?”

“Make sure you win,” concluded Sirius.

“How am I going to do that?” James replied in a small, defeated, voice.

“Easy, I will keep Davies out of the way, you will try getting her on your side, and Moony,” Sirius turned to look at Remus, “will try to get her to trust you and put in a few good words for you.”

“I’ve tried everything to get her to like me, what else can I try?” James was fast losing hope of ever getting Lily and saving her from Travis.

“Have you tried not acting like an idiot around her and treating her as a potential friend and not a potential girlfriend?”

“Um, no.” James was glad that Sirius was actually being serious for once, and not an immature little turd.

The Fight

“GET AWAY FROM ME POTTER!” screeched Lily Evans, showing the fiery temper that is generally associated with her vibrant auburn hair.

“Bite me,” taunted James.

James fell in love with Lily in their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Lily however, hated James. For the first five years of school he had done all he could think of to get Lily to notice him in a positive way. He had tried red roses, chocolates, jewellery and many other things. He even tried to change his whole personality to please her, but it never worked, she still screamed at him every time he tried to talk to her. This year, his final year, was going to be one of the worst years he had ever known at Hogwarts. James and Lily had to work together as Head Boy and Head Girl and although Lily had called a truce, she still didn’t like to be in the same room as him if she could help it. Now James didn’t care if she liked him or not, any attention from her, good or bad, was worth it.

“Move out of my way so I can get my books for class,” Lily snarled.

“Allow me. Accio Evans’ bag.” James insisted, smiling as he summoned Lily’s school things, “There you go sweetheart.”

“Don’t call me sweetheart! I still want to go into my room, MOVE.”

“Why are you in a bad mood beautiful?”

“It’s Friday and I have a mountain of homework to do this weekend and it’s not going to be a nice weekend for me,” snapped Lily

“Where’s the harm in spending a little bit of time with me? What have I ever done to you?” James was persistant in his efforts to try charm Lily; however it wasn’t working well.

“Any amount of time I have to spend with you makes me sick!” Lily was frustrated with James’ incessant antagonism.

“Love sick?”

“If you do not move I will have to curse you out of my way,” threatened Lily, drawing her wand.

“Miss Evans!” scalded an all-to-familiar voice from behind her.

“Yes Professor McGonagall?” stammered Lily, lowering her wand when heard her name.

“What in the name of Godric Gryffindor are you doing?” shouted Professor McGonagall, looking quite as scary as she was made out to be.

“Well Professor, Potter was…” Lily began.

“I don’t want to hear any excuses from you Miss Evans; I’m appalled that a Head Girl would exhibit such behaviour. As for you Mr Potter,” Professor McGonagall turned her piercing gaze to look directly at James, “What on earth did you do to make Miss Evans so mad that she was ready to hex you?”

“Nothing Professor.” mumbled James, looking over at Lily hoping to get her to help him out.

“Well I’m disappointed in both of you, what are your next classes?” inquired McGonagall.

“Potions,” Lily and James answered simultaneously.

“Very well, the punishment for your childish behaviour is that the pair of you will work along side each other in every class you have together until you can get along without fighting! Starting with Potions today! I will inform Professor Slughorn of this decision to ensure that it is enforced!” barked Professor McGonagall, sweeping past Lily and James, down the hall towards Slughorn’s office.

Potions mishaps

As Lily entered the dungeon for Potions class Professor Slughorn gave her a small smile. “Lily, Professor McGonagall has just informed me that you almost broke one of the school rules! I must say that I’m extremely disappointed in you. Mr Potter and yourself will work together on the front bench so I can monitor your behaviour.”

“Class, today we will be working in pairs on a compatibility potion so listen carefully. You may choose who your partner is, although I strongly recommend that you choose someone that you get along with as the potion can be rather unpredictable. The method is on the board and the extra supplies that are not in your kit or the store cupboard are on my desk. You have an hour and a half. Please begin.” Slughorn called to the entire class

James went to retrieve the extra supplies from Slughorn’s desk and Lily started the fire under her cauldron. Sirius Black, James’ best mate reached the front desk at roughly the same time as James.

“What did you say to Evans this time?” inquired Sirius.

“Nothing,” insisted James as he retrieved the boomslang skin from the desk and began to retreat.

“Oh really, then why did she pull a wand on you?” persisted Sirius.

“Ok, I was annoying her to get her attention, nothing unusual, and she got mad. Even though she raised her wand I doubt she would have cursed me.” James smiled.

“Why not?” asked a curious Sirius.

“Because that would be lowering herself to my arrogant level, and she wouldn’t want to do that now would she?” James grinned impishly, his hazel eyes sparkling with mischief.

“Very true, just don’t annoy her so much that she throws some potion in your face,” Remus warned as James passed the desk where he and Sirius were working together.

James reached his and Lily’s desk and immediately added the boomslang skin before bothering to checking what part of the method Lily was up to. Instantaneously the cauldron exploded, drenching Lily and James in the process.

The potion felt like ice, even though it had been over a fire. Lily had to grab the bench to suport herself because she was shaking so mush. then all went normal again.

“What on Earth did you do?” Lily screeched with a suprisingly low voice. her eyes flashing dangerously.

“Mr Potter, contain your self,” ordered Slughorn.

“What, I didn’t say anything!” spluttered James with a much higher voice than normal, wondering what he was suppose to have done this time.

“Miss Evans, there is no need to stick up for Mr Potter.” Slughorn reassured the pupil whom he thought was Lily.

Confused, James and Lily slowly turned to face each other.

Lily entered a state of shock when she faced James and for one fleeting moment thought she was looking into a life-like mirror. Lily couldn't believe it, James was now a double of herself. How could that happen?

James looked up into his own hazel eyes. He looked down at his right hand, and noticed a small silver ring. He grabed a mirror out of his bag and studdied his reflection. He only saw Lily's emerald eyes looking at j=him.

"What on earth have I done?" muttered James. He looked at Lily and it dawned on him, they were stuck. He didn't know how to fix it, and he very much doubted Lily did either.

Due to James’ mistake, the Head Boy and Head Girl were stuck in each other’s bodies, with no idea of a possible cure.

They headed back to the Heads common room. James decided to try his luck by climbing the stair case to Lily's room. It mearly became a slide. Lily laughed sarcasticly and said, "I guess it knows who's who. I'll send down some of my clothes and you can give me yours. You do anything to my body Potter and I WILL kill you."

With that, She assended the stairs and dissapeared out of sight.

Girl Talk

The day after the disastrous potions incident James awoke to find blood covering his underwear and the top of his legs. He leapt out of bed and ran to the shower. Upon closer examination, he realised that the blood was dripping from between his legs. He quickly showered and set off to see Madam Pomfrey the school matron.

“Lily, what’s the problem?” inquired the matron as James came bursting into the hospital wing.

“I’ve got blood dripping from where it shouldn’t be!” James panted.

“Where?” Madam Pomfrey inquired suddenly alarmed.

James pointed towards his crotch, blushing furiously.

“Lily, you know that’s normal. Maybe the pain is making you a little light headed. Here,” the matron handed James a potion, “you drink this and I will go and get you some more supplies.”

James drank the foul tasting potion and took the bag that the matron handed him and went back to the Head’s common room. Once the portrait door was shut James opened the bag and emptied the contents onto the couch. He picked up a small, thin wrapped object and looked at it weirdly. What was it? What was it used for? He began pacing the common room. After half an hour or so he heard a voice from the head girls room, “What are you doing Potter, you’re going to wear a major hole in the carpet.”

James turned to see Lily, who read his horrified expression.

“What’s wrong?” Lily asked exasperatedly.

“I’m bleeding from a place that I shouldn’t be and Madam Pomfrey gave me these and I don’t know what to do with them,” James confessed, hoping that Lily wouldn’t abuse him for harming her body. He was taken aback when Lily laughed; he was expecting her to yell at him.

“What are you laughing at?” he ventured weakly.

“You stuffed up the potion at the perfect time of the month.Well, perfect for me anyway,” Lily giggled.

“Time of the, oh no, not that time of the month?” James’ face showed every bit of horror that he was feeling inside.

“Yep, and you have no idea what to do, do you?” giggled Lily.

“No,” admitted James.

“Well being a guy I wouldn’t expect you to. However I never thought I would be explaining this to you,” Lily had resigned herself to the worst; trying to explain to James about periods. ‘Maybe this will get him to stop harassing me,’ she mused silently.

Quidditch Trials and Social Dilemmas

“What are we going to do?” Sirius wondered impatiently.

“I don’t know,” James confessed, “We can’t let Lily do the trials because she won’t know what to look for.”

“But everyone thinks Lily is you, that’s the problem!” Sirius countered, getting frustrated.

“The three of us could all go down and we could pick the people and Evans can make the announcement.” James was running out of ideas for the Quidditch trial the next day.

They went to find Lily but none of her friends knew where she was. So they consulted the trusty Marauders map and were surprised that she was down at the Quidditch pitch.

When they arrived at the pitch they found Lily flying around catching the snitch and when she had enough of that James and Sirius watched as she threw the Quaffle around through the three fifty-foot-high goal hoops.

“She’s good!” muttered Sirius in disbelief.

“We should suggest that she try-out for the team,” James whispered from Sirius’ left side.

“Agreed,” concurred Sirius.

“Hey Evans,” James bellowed across the Quidditch pitch. Lily slammed on the breaks on her broom and turned to see who called her name; she groaned upon seeing James and Sirius.

“What do you want Potter?” Lily called as she flew closer to them.

“We need to talk to you,” insisted James.

“What do you need to talk to me about?”

“Quidditch trials tomorrow and you joining the team this year,” James called, hoping Lily wouldn’t hit him.

“What about the trials tomorrow? And why do you want me to try-out for the team?” demanded Lily as she braked her broom in front of the pair of infamous Marauders.

“We want you on the team because you’re brilliant and as I am actually captain, Sirius and I are going to pick who makes it onto the team and you can make the announcements, ok?”

“All good, but how am I suppose to try-out for the team when I’m in your body?” questioned Lily as she hovered her broom so she could sit on it sideways.

“Show us what you can do and I will put your name down and fly for you tomorrow,” suggested James.

“You sure?” queried Lily.

“Yep,” Sirius piped in, not wanting to be left out of the conversation.

The next day Sirius and Lily were walking down to the Quidditch pitch Lily spotted out of the corner of her eye the Ravenclaw seventh year prefect. He was tall with light brown hair and dark brown eyes.

“Gees he’s a hottie,” muttered Lily. Forgetting that she was in James’s body she turned around and gave him a smile.

“What are you doing?” asked a dumbstruck Sirius, snapping Lily out of her trance.

“Pardon, what did you say?”

“You just smiled at that Ravenclaw guy and you’re in James’ body! Now look at the expression on those girls faces.” commented Sirius nodding in the direction of the two sixth year Gryffindor girls.

“So, those girls are idiots, even you can do better than that,” smirked Lily.

The two girls that had heard Lily’s statement earlier rushed up to James believing he was Lily.

“Thanks a lot,” the taller girl snarled, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

“What did I do Monique?” responded a flabbergasted James.

“Potter has turned gay because you rejected him so many times!” Monique seethed.

“I, er, Potter’s not gay,” spluttered James.

“Yes he is!” insisted Monique.

At lunch Lily walked into the Great Hall and drew curious glances from everyone. She went to the Gryffindor table and sat down with her friends and the Marauders. She immediately saw the look of disgust on James’ face.

“Sorry. I forgot that I was in your body and I smiled at the Ravenclaw guy. Don’t worry, I’ll fix your reputation and you’ll have everyone thinking that you’re back to your rule-breaking, girl chasing old self in no time. I promise that by the time we have to go on heads patrol tonight all will be fixed,” Lily apologised in the most sincere way she could before walking out of the hall.

Once she was outside at the lake a small fourth year Hufflepuff girl came wandering over to her.

“Um, James,” she smiled shyly, “Are you really gay?”

“No!” Lily answered forcefully.

“Really?” the girls face instantly brightened. “Do you have a date for Hogsmeade?”

“Sorry, I’m not going with anyone this time. I just want to go with my friends. Sorry,”

“Oh, well I’ll see you around,” she wandered away trying not to look upset.

“What was that all about?” Tasha asked as she appeared at Lily’s shoulder.

“Nothing.”

“Do you want to go in and grab our books for Divinations?”

“Sure.”

Lily and Tasha were on their way up the marble staircase going to get their books for Divinations when…

“Potter,” called a voice from behind Lily somewhere.

“Hello Travis,” Lily greeted.

“The bet still on or are you going to chicken out to save your precious Lily?” Travis asked.

“What bet?” Lily asked, throwing a puzzled look at Tasha who was now leaning against the side of the marble staircase, also wearing a perplexed expression.

"You know exactly what bet I'm talking about."
"Humour me," Lily didn't like the tone he used and the fact that James would get into a bet where she was the prize. When was he ever going to learn that she was not some prize to be won.

“The one where if Lily kisses either of us we win a bottle of Redcurrant Rum and Firewhisky. There is NO way that your winning so I’m going to have fun once I’ve won. I won’t be with Lily long so if you want her afterwards she might be more willing to go out with you after I’ve finished with her.”

“What are you planning to do with her? Did you forget that she has the best aim with curses in our year?”

“Lets just say that you might not want to go looking in any broom closets in case you walk in on us. Although, if you do, that’s going to be the only time you see much of Lily’s bare skin. You really should stop respecting her so much. She thinks that you’re only trying to pull the wool over her eyes,” Travis waited for a reaction, but never got the one he was after.

“I can guarantee that I’m going to win this bet, not that it’s going to be hard. Look over at the Gryffindor table tomorrow morning at Breakfast and then we’ll see who’s the winner.” Lily stormed back the staircase to deposit her bag in her room.

Halloween

Lily, Gypsy (Sirius’ latest girlfriend), Tasha (Remus’ girlfriend) and the four Marauders were the last to enter the Gryffindor common room after the Halloween feast. Sirius immediately took residence on one of the over stuffed armchairs by the fire and didn’t look like he had any intentions of moving anytime soon. The rest of the group occupied the surrounding chairs, except Gypsy who sat on Sirius’ lap. Sirius yawned, so wide that Lily could have sworn that she had a seen smaller mouth on a hippopotamus, before stating, “I know that Halloween is about ghost, ghouls and scaring the hell out of people, but I am completely scare proof.”

“Is that so Black? I bet I can scare you enough to cry in five minutes flat!” challenged Lily.

“Is that so? You want to wager on that Evans?” smirked Sirius.

“If you want to be publicly humiliated when you cry, I’ll wager,” responded a devious Lily.

“How much you willing to bet?” inquired Sirius, flabbergasted that Lily wasn’t backing down.

“20 galleons says that I can scare you enough to make you cry before the nights out,” yawned Lily.

“Ok, ground rules first!” Insisted Sirius. “No Hospital Wing visits, and the first one to scream or admit they’re scared loses!”

“Deal, no leaving the Tower,” supplied Lily.

“No hiding on the girl’s staircase,” demanded Sirius.

“Not even if I banish the spell barrier that separates the two staircases?” protested Lily.

“You can do that?” muttered Sirius, for once in his life, completely lost for words.

“Well duh, I’m surprised that neither you nor Potter has done it before. It’s only the simple vanishing charm!” smirked Lily, enjoying putting one over Sirius. Lily was in the lead as she, James and Sirius climbed the boy’s staircases. Once at the top, Lily drew her wand and with one swift movement, the barrier appeared to have vanished. Sirius however, was doubtful that Lily had lifted the enchantments placed on the wall. He couldn't shake the memory of last time he tried to cross the enchanted barrier

“You just going to stand there or are you going to walk over to the girls stairs?” prompted Lily, smiling at Sirius.

“How come you and Sirius get all the fun?” James inquired, more than a little hurt that Lily might be getting an interest in Sirius.

“What, do you want to join in the contest?” queried Lily.

“We should make it a whole house event!” James suggested.

“That’s a great idea. You ok with that Sirius?” Lily smiled.

“Yep, you can make the announcement Evans, everyone will listen to you. Oh, and Evans,” Sirius grinned and winked at James.

“What?” responded Lily.

“No hiding in the head’s dorm, ok,” Sirius persevered.

“Not even if James and I are the last two contestants?” asked Lily, trying to find a loophole.

“If you and James are the last two contestants, then the two of you can go into the Head’s dormitory, but only if you give Remus or I the password so we can make sure neither of you are cheating. So you going to make the announcement?” informed Sirius

“Why?” questioned Lily looking between the two grinning Marauders.

“Because as far as they know, you are their beloved Quidditch captain; and everyone listens to me, well except you, but everyone thinks you’re me, so they will listen to your every word you say!” Declared James, heading back down the staircase, tying back the annoying auburn hair that, under normal circumstances, Lily would have had to contend with.

As predicted, Lily had Sirius crying within half an hour, and the whole house had taken up the challenge with the enthusiasm only a true Gryffindor could muster. It was nearing midnight when the only contestants left were Lily and James.

The pair headed into the head’s common room where Lily decided to switch tactics. Lily knew that to get James to scream she would have to use the skinny body he was in to her advantage. Lily slipped one of the muscular hands she currently had up James’ back to just below the bra strap, searching for the spot she knew would make James squirm when she touched it. When Lily’s hand went up James’ back he was completely taken aback for a moment, but relaxed instantaneously when he remembered it was Lily that made the first move. So there was no reason for him to get slapped, this time around anyway. Somehow the pair managed to end up in James’ private section. James went with the flow and lightly brushed his fingers along the top of Lily’s ears, causing her to weaken at the knees. The battle of stamina went on for a while, James and Lily trying as hard a possible to turn each other on and make the other person scream. By the time one-thirty am rolled around both Lily and James were laughing like they had been friends forever. When Lily went to retrieve her favourite hairpin that James had unceremoniously pulled out of the long auburn hair he had, she also lifted a large and very worn box, curious to find out what it contained. When the box landed on the bed, James turned a brilliant shade that was reminiscent of beetroot.

“Don’t open that please Lily,” begged James, trying to hide the box.

“Why? What’s in it that you don’t want me to see?” an inquisitive Lily wondered in a teasing way, getting a hold of the box.

“Um, nothing much,” blushed James, recognizing defeat when he saw it.

“You know, I never knew I looked so funny when I blushed. What is this?” Lily said, opening the tatty box. When the box was opened a blow up doll had self-inflated on top of a pile of magazines that Lily had never seen before. When Lily looked at the doll, she had a horrible image of what James did to this doll that was obviously custom made, as it was an almost life like form of her. She looked up at James, who was staring away to hide his embarrassment from Lily.

“You actually own these sorts of magazines? Trust this to be the sort of thing you read,” joked Lily, knowing that James was a brilliant student but had never been seen in the library as far as anyone could remember.

“Yep, here read this. It’s not all rubbish, there are some good articles in there!” James defended himself, handing Lily one of the magazines from his collection. James decided to try his luck and lent down and attempted to kiss Lily. Even when Lily pulled away James still found himself trying to remove the ‘Weird Sisters’ shirt she was wearing.

“What are you doing Potter?” inquired Lily, grabbing James’ hand to stop him.

“Just seeing how far I could stretch my luck,” he said, answering Lily’s question and leaning down to nibble Lily’s neck, causing her to attempt to hit him. James, much to Lily’s horror, removed the white polo shirt he had put on this morning, revealing a nice lilac bra. Lily, not wanting to be outdone by James, removed the shirt and tossed it over the side of the bed.

“So let me get this straight; you don’t like me one bit but you are willing to remove your top without complaint?” James flashed Lily with his signature smile as he removed the light blue pleated skirt from around his waist.

“No, but I’ve just realised that you’re only looking at your own body; but knowing you, you’ve probably checked out my body anyway.” Lily said as she removed the faded blue jeans she was wearing.

“Why do you think you had to slap me so many times for looking in the mirror. You are gorgeous Evans. Before you say anything, I love you for more than your looks. I love everything about you!” James confessed using so many clichés in the one mouthful that it made Lily giggle. Since when has he ever made me giggle?’ Lily wondered silently as her body reacted to her changing emotions.

“So you do love me?” James inquired impishly, running his hands down Lily’s side.

“What do you mean?” demanded Lily.

“You know exactly what I mean,” whispered James, sneaking his hand inside the boxers Lily was wearing, receiving a sniffled moan.

“Read this!” James suggested.

After Lily had read a couple of the articles she and James began joke around and started getting along. Once they started to get along James started feeling a little weak and shaky. He looked over a pale Lily and gathered that she felt similar. Lily put her arm out onto James' shoulder to steady herself. Then James felt fine again, although without the headache caused by the long hair.

“I’m in my own body again!” Lily cried aloud with relief.

“The irony of it all, why didn’t we guess that since it was compatibility potion that all we had to do to reverse it was get along!” James smiled, running his hands through his hair, more out of habit than anything else. He immediately received a slap from Lily to let him know she detested that habit of his.

James’ let his hands slide down Lily’s side to remove her underwear.

“Stop James, don’t, please!” Protested Lily, struggling to free herself from James strong grip.

“What’s wrong Lily? You know I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you!” Reassured James as he released her.

“I know, I’m just a little scared, that’s all.” Confessed Lily.

“There’s nothing to be scared of, I’ll be gentle.” promised James.

“I know you would, but I have no idea what to do or anything. You would probably be way to disappointed to ever talk to me again.” Mumbled Lily, turning away from James to hide her red face.

“You could never disappoint me. Look, read this article!” James said, giving Lily one of his more erotic magazines.

“Are you going to dump me after tonight since I’m no longer a challenge and you’ve finally got me to fall for you?” questioned Lily, reading the article James had suggested.

“No way, I didn’t only chase after you for six years because you were a challenge and the only girl to ever reject me. I love you so much that I did all in my power to win your heart!”

“Promise?” Lily needed the reassurance that she wasn’t some brainless girl who thought she had a chance with James, but really didn’t.

“Promise,” James responded, kissing her on the forehead as she rolled over and curled up in James’ arms to read the suggested article.

“What am I suppose to learn from that?” questioned Lily tossing the magazine aside and pulling James towards her, “Come here and show me yourself.”

“If you insist,” James hastily deflated the doll and pushed it on the floor along with the rest of the contence from the box, before raising his wand and summoning a mahogany chest with an ornate silver lock, resting it on the floor on his side of the bed.

“What’s that for?” queried Lily.

“Later sweetheart, don’t worry about it at the moment,” whispered James, slipping Lily’s underwear from her hips.

“You don’t know me very well do you?” Lily laughed, raising her wand and unlocked the chest. Lily gasped when she saw James’ various ‘toys’, but was also intrigued as to their use.

“Why wait until later? What are you afraid of?” Lily smiled; latching a pair of red fury handcuffs around one of James’ wrists, binding him to her. Not that James had any objections to being attached to Lily. Using her free hand, Lily removed James’ boxers while James used his free hand to finnish removing the lilac G-string that he had put on this morning whilst still in Lily’s body. James reached to remove Lily’s bra, but was stopped by Lily whispering, “Leave it on.” James parted Lily’s lips with his own, exploring her mouth with his tongue. At this gesture, Lily closed her mouth, clamping down just hard enough to stop James’ tongue from leaving her mouth, but not hard enough to make it bleed. She waited a moment before releasing it.

“What was that for?” asked James, astounded at Lily’s behaviour.

“The day we switched bodies, you told me to bite you so I just did,” laughed Lily, handing James one of his condoms, not realizing that it was a flavoured one. James kissed all the way down Lily’s stomach, pausing to pay extra attention to her navel as that, according to the mentally disturbing stories Sirius had told him about what goes on behind the locked doors of a broom closet, was a spot that got most girls to melt. As James reached his chest and extracted a bottle of firewisky and two glasses, “do you want a drink sweet?”

“No thank you. Do you want to play some of these games?” asked Lily, grabbing a book of sex games from James’ ‘toy box’.

“Sure, just be careful, some of those games are pretty full on for someone with little experience,” warned James.

“If I’m going to lose my virginity tonight I want to have a bit of fun at least. Look, James, I love you okay?” smiled Lily, curling her fingers in James’ hair.

“Whoa, Lily are you sure you want to lose your virginity tonight? Please don’t think I’m trying to pressure you into anything, because I’m not interested in you for your beautiful body. I don’t want you to feel that you have to do anything that you’re not completely comfortable doing.” Babbled a wide-eyed James, hoping he hadn’t done anything to upset Lily or make her feel as though he only liked her for her body.

“Are you trying to get out of it James? I’m up for the fun if you are,” whispered Lily, opening the book at a random page. “This game looks like fun; do you want to play the Dice Game?”

“Not particularly, I can think of a few other things that we could be doing instead of those games, since you said that you’re willing to play around with me.” James whispered, putting the condom in place.

“No complaints from me,” Lily said, wincing slightly as James entered her.

“You ok Sweetheart? I’m sorry I didn’t mean to hurt you,” James’ eyes narrowed in concern as Lily winced again.

“I’m ok, it’ll get easier the longer we go. So don’t worry about hurting me, it’s not your fault ok.” Lily insisted as James managed to remove Lily’s bra without her objecting and his mouth encircled her left nipple and his right hand shifting the sheets to cover the pair of Gryffindors.

“Baby, can you please undo the cuffs around my wrist?” James asked, beginning to nibble Lily’s neck again. Lily reluctantly unlocked the handcuff that was around James’ left hand and Lily’s right wrist. She threw it back into the chest, and turning back to the person she how wished she had gotten to know long before now. She had been so intent on hating him for his cocky, arrogant, attitude, and his tendency to curse people out of boredom. Thinking about it, Lily had plenty of good reasons to hate James, but she was only human after all. All humans wanted to be loved and be the centre of someone’s world, and she was getting the love and attention she craved from the handsome boy that was currently tangling his fingers in her hair and treating her like royalty. She would do whatever necessary to ensure that nothing and no one came between her and James.

“Hang on a minute. Can I just try something please?” Lily inquired, pulling away from James as the luminous alarm clock on his bedside table changed to read 3:17 am.

“Ok, what are you doing?” asked James as Lily disappeared under the covers and slid down his stomach. James’ curiosity grew as Lily removed his condom.

“Lily, what’s going on?” James’ was beginning to worry.

“Don’t worry, I wont hurt you. Since I’ve never done this sort of thing before can you not get up me if I do it all wrong?” Lily pleaded, her hands resting on the tops of James’ legs.

“Do what all wrong?” inquired James.

“This,” Lily responded and she placed her mouth around James cock and began to suck. She started off slow; James’ hips were starting to buck. When Lily sped up James began to moan aloud, “Oh yeah, Lils, are you sure that this is your first time? You’re fantastic!”

After ten minutes or so, James spilled his seed into Lily’s mouth. With one swift reflux action, Lily spat it straight onto his stomach. James was speechless as Lily went on apologising and looking quite embarrassed thinking she had ruined the mood. Only to find out that nothing could ruin James’ feelings towards her. James kissed her soft tender lips with all the passion of before. He wiped his stomach, looked at Lily and smiled mischievously, “My turn now.” He vanished under the blankets as Lily crawled back up to the top of the bed and lay there, exhausted. As James went on, Lily could not believe what she had been missing. She couldn’t contain her screams any longer. She let out a loud, “Oh Yeah,” and was eternally grateful that the walls were soundproof…

The morning after

The next morning, Remus awoke very peacefully; perhaps a little too peacefully. Didn’t mind the peaceful state of his dormitory but was wondering where the hell James was. The first Quidditch match of the season was on today; and normally that meant that James would wake the team at about five o’clock in the morning for a warm up flight.

Remus opened James’ door to wake him, but when his eyes skimmed the room he was appalled at the mess. Magazines scattered everywhere, the blow-up doll in a crumpled pile on the floor and a tangle of robes and two abandoned wands beside the bed. Through the gap in the four-poster bed hangings he saw James and Lily curled up together, sound asleep. Lily was wrapped protectively in James’ strong arms and Remus could just make out Lily’s shoulders and the fact that James was topless. Remus ran from the room, realising that he's walked in on something James would hex him for knowing about. He rushed down the stairs where he ran into Sirius and was knocked backwards.

“You ok Remus? You look like you saw a ghost. Where is James? He never sleeps in when it’s a Quidditch match,” stated Sirius, helping Remus to his feet.

“I don’t know where James is,” lied Remus, before suggesting, “Maybe you should go and wake him.”

"Maybe I should. I'll get my broom first though. See you down at breakfast,” Sirius called over his shoulder.

When Sirius entered James’ room 20 minutes later he was greeted by shouting.

“BLACK! DON’T YOU KNOW HOW TO KNOCK? YOU CAN’T JUST COME BARGING INTO OTHER PEOPLE’S ROOMS WHENEVER YOU WANT!” screeched James as Lily walked out of the shower drying her hair, wearing nothing but her shower robe.

“Oh, right, sorry about that Evans,” Sirius apologised looking in James direction, and then he turned to Lily, “You had better hurry up because McGonagall needs to talk to you before the match.”

“Why?” asked Lily, brushing her hair and tying it back in a ponytail.

“Because you’re captain and you are going to have to think up a good excuse as to why it seems like Evans is seeker and not you,” replied Sirius with the patients of a two year old not getting his own way.

“Um, we, er, switched bodies back last night.” informed James, grabbing his broomstick and giving Lily a quick kiss, “See you when you come to breakfast beautiful, ok?”

“Yep, I’ll be down in a minute.” answered Lily walking towards her room.

“What was all that about?” Sirius inquired, wanting information.

“What was all what about?” James feigned innocence, knowing that Sirius wasn’t fooled.

“You and Lily…” Sirius prompted.

“That would be none of your concern. What went on last night is completely between Lily and I,” grinned James.

“So something did happen?” mouthed Sirius, stunned that James would do something like that.

“That all depends on what you think happened. If you’re referring to ‘that’, then sorry to disappoint you but not that lucky,” James lied to distract Sirius from that line of questioning.

“So what did happen? You wouldn’t be grinning that wide if nothing happened,” Sirius persisted.

“She agreed to go out with me, alone. We kissed, and that’s about all that happened. I’m not stupid enough to rush into anything after continual rejections for six years. She’s too important to me for me to be stupid enough to try getting my way with her when she only just stoped being disgusted by my mere presence,” James insisted. He wasn’t completely lying, he didn’t rush. Lily was the one that started it, he just had some fun.

“Then why was Lily using your shower this morning?” interrogated Sirius, not giving up.

“Um, because she fell asleep in my room and she decided to use my shower after I finished,” James was beginning to get peeved off at the continual hints from Sirius. “Back off ok, nothing happened that concerns you. Will you just lay off me and concentrate on the Quidditch match that we are about to play. I don’t really fancy losing this match to Slytherin,” snapped James as they entered the Great Hall.

“What’s going on?” asked Remus when he heard James shouting.

“Sirius is just being a nosey arse,” snarled James.

“James is just being a grouchy git. I only asked a few questions and he snapped!” muttered Sirius.

“Harper isn’t playing, they put Bulstrode in instead!” Remus informed, glancing up from his list, outlining the final player selections for the game.

“Cool, I hope Jordan is up to it today, I don’t want to have to play Patil as chaser,” commented James, starting on his bacon and eggs. Lily arrived with Gypsy and the girls sat in the two seats in-between Sirius and James.

“Have you been harassed with questions about who won and what we got up to last night?” whispered Lily.

“Yes, you?” muttered James.

“By almost every Gryffindor girl in second year and above,” giggled Lily.

“What are you laughing about Lily?” Remus asked sitting across the table from Lily and James.

“Nothing,” Lily began laughing even louder.

“What’s with her this morning?” Remus’s girlfriend Tasha asked concerned about her best friend as she sat next to Remus.

“Well her and James switched bodies back and both fell asleep in James’s bed. This morning I went to wake James up and his room was a mess and they were still asleep and I couldn’t tell whether or not they were clothed and so I sent Sirius in to wake him up. Sirius walked into the room to find James dressed and Lily emerging from James’ shower,” Remus babbled with a quick glance at James.

“You don’t think that they got up to anything that they shouldn’t have done do you?” Tasha looked alarmed at what Remus had just told her.

“I doubt it. James wouldn’t be stupid enough to try that considering it took him six years to gain Lily’s trust and Lily’s not that type of girl,” Remus was confident that his two friends were only taking things slowly.

“You’re right,” Tasha said, reassured.

“Hey Davies!” Lily called across the hall, causing everyone’s head to turn.

“What?” Travis replied.

“You know that bet you and James had going?” Lily smirked.

“Yes.”

“Well the provisions were that if I was to kiss either of you guys in front of the whole school without backing down or cursing them that person would win a bottle of Firewhisky and a bottle of Redcurrant Rum, right?” Lily no longer had to yell because the whole hall was silent waiting to see where this was going.

“Yes,” replied Travis.

“Well is this enough of the school watching?” Lily sneered as she lent over and French-kissed James complete with visible tongue. The look on Travis’ face, and that of almost every female Hogwarts student, was priceless.

“What happened last night between you two?” Remus and Gypsy asked.

“Don’t say nothing,” Sirius and Tasha added before Lily or James could answer.

“Well I’m in a good mood because Lily’s finally given into me.” James smiled at Lily as he slipped his arm around her waist.

“Lily, why did you give in after all these years?” Remus asked, worried that James must have gotten desperate and slipped her a strong love potion.

“Um, I guess I just saw a different side of James last night that I’d never seen before. These things happen when one thing leads to another.”

Don't ever use a word like longish in a story. It is not a very descriptive word, seeing as how it really isn't a word.

You might want to reword the "Actually she was a perfect student in every subject." Instead, maybe something along the lines of, "Just like every other subject." They might work better, just a thought.

On "Throw this puffer fish down your throat." It might work better as stuff, I don't know, just a thought.

Um, I'm confused right here, they are talking about the bet. They were in potions, or so I thought, and now they are somewhere with a bed. Maybe that was supposed to be bench...but I don't know, you should clear that up, put something to let us know that we moved.

First part of "The Fight" you change tenses. You said "That is generally associated..." the way you wrote it puts it in present tense, while the rest was in past. If you want to use is then the sentence would look like this "that is generally associated with vibrant auburn hair." If you don't want to write it like that, it would be "that was generally associated with her vibrant auburn hair."

I"m not sure...and I could very well be wrong, but even if McGonagall was in Hogwarts at that time, would she be Head of Gryffindor? Again, I'm not sure, it just doesn't quite seem right. But I could be wrong.

On "Potions Mishaps" describe the transition from one body to the other. What did the change feel like? What did the potion feel like? How hot was it? Did it burn? What were the initial thoughts after looking at each other? Did they notice the change in their voices? These kinds of things will make this part a lot more interesting.

"Girl talk" is a very odd part. it could be very very funny, but right now, it is just odd. SO work on it a little more, and it can be a great part of this story.

Well I'm at Halloween, and the main thing I've noticed overall is that this story just skips along at some pace. You might think about breaking it up a little better, maybe actually call them chapters instead of just "Halloween" put "Chapter _: Halloween."

You say the four Marauders, but you haven't talked about Wormtail at all yet. So just something to think about.

Would Lily be able to go onto the girls staircase in James' body?

When they are taking off clothes, make sure to put each new quotation on a new line.

Ok you did a better job of describing the change back, but it still could use more.

After the biting of the tongue, there shouldn't be a period at the end of Lily's quotation, but a comma, and laughed should be lower-case.

The quotation that says "I can’t think of anyone I would rather be the one to lose it to" is a little odd, you might want to rephrase it, and again comma not period.

In "The morning after" Remus runs from the room and then sees James and Lily. A little backwards don't you think?

Again, and for some reason this is bugging me, but it is comma, not period after quotations. I don't know why thats suddenly bugging me, but yeah. Sorry if I seem rude about it, but it just is bugging me.

This story was very interesting, but it has a lot of work still needs to be done. I really did like it, but it has work needing to be done

Wow, I loved it! You've really pulled off a great story and I love how it's in James' lifetime and not Harry's, which is mostly what seems to be written in fanfics. It was slightly confusing when they switched bodies, but I managed to understand by keep telling myself they'd switched. Awesome write, I'm glad I read it!

It was pretty good. Good flow for the most part, but you don't introduce the characters very well, which I guess is how most fanfiction rolls. Pretty good development of the story though. I think that you could have developed the night's events a little bit better. Overall a decent write, with good flow and interesting language. Good write and good luck.

I always thought that when it came to fan fiction, Harry Potter should be left alone. While it is the best one that I have read, it still will never comparet to the real thing. I kind of like that you twisted it and made it erotic as unnatural to the characters as some of it seemed, it was still fairly good. Nice work.

    pretty decent

I wasn't expecting a fanfiction, but the story totally worked for the rules of the contest, so that worked out pretty darn neatly.

I enjoyed reading this story and you get props for making the sex scene work WITH the story, instead of being the entire purpose of the story. The characters seemed in character, at least based on the little we were given about them from the books, and the plot flowed nicely.

I have a few notes of criticism that I figure I'd point out:

    - Your characters had the tendency to explain the EXACT same thing that just happened in the plot. For example, after Potter and Ravenclaw boy arrange the bet, Potter goes and tells his friends pretty much the exact same thing that was already revealed in the story. This is kinda clunky and it ruins the flow, plus it's extra paragraphs that are just unnecessary. If you could replace all that added exposition with, "Potter explained to his friends about the bet" or something similar, it would make your story flow a LOT better.

Hmmm also, I thought the little author's note in the middle about the switched bodies ruined the surprise. I think I would have understood what was going on without it, and it certainly would have added impact to the story if that plot twist wasn't telegraphed like that.

All in all, I enjoyed reading this story. I liked the plot and how that bastard ravenclaw boy didn't win, and it was a very original romance. Good job!

      Thanks

I didn't realise that it ruined the suprise with having the A-N in the middle. I didn't have the note in origonally and it didn't make sence, but when I edited it, I didn't even think of taking it out. but I see your way of thinking. Thanks. As to the characters explaining what's just happened, I didn't even think twice when I wrote that, but I'm always glad that there are people to pick up on the errors that I miss. Much appreciated. I will edit it when I get a chance.

      Thanks again,

It was a bit confusing after the authors note, but at least u told us, otherwise we would have been sitting there thinking, "is James Bisexual is he." Grammar mistakes here and there, but otherwise, it was good.

    Love it

Hey hunny, You know I love this story, I have read it so many times but I read it again for good measure. Just cus you r my girl doesn't mean this will win, I expect some fierce competition but if you deserve a place you will get one. Good work again ey, keep on writing, this style comes naturally to you. The only thing I could possible suggest is using Lupin instead of Remeus as a name. This is only opinion based but because people are used to reading "Lupin" in the books it tends to read better. Only a suggestion though, it wont influence my decision. Good luck and keep smiling. Love always, Becca

    FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! It was brilliant

I LOVED IT!!!!!!! The only thing I will say is that the dialog could be more relative to the characters. For instance, Lily does come out as surprising but James's head seems too deflated from his cocky attitude. Though the beginning started the story brilliantly, the middle set the scene for the end which was fantastic. A brilliant ending. If you like I could give you some pointers to fix James' dialogue. Anyway, look out for the next 2 chapters of FD. HUGS!!!!! LokkaLozza

This is brilliant and I am a big harry potter fan so it works really well. Love the emotion, the graphics and the realisticness (if that's a word) of the story and how the characters fit those that have been described in the books and also some unique names of students and situations. Only one thing I noticed is though when James goes down on Lily you stated earlier in the day that she is on her period, so... That was a bit messy no or a mistake? I love the imagery and the ideas behind it... Really sweet and quite possibly something that did happen to make James and Lily closer, it would make sense and no reason why not. Love this write, brilliant!!

    HAHAHAHA

you are VERY mischevious dear Danni. I'm a bit confused as to why Lily was suddenly a flyer. you don't get that through the main books. Only that James was an exclent Quittich player. Nice work though. I love how ya wrote Halloween night, totally cliche, but it fitted with the characters, EXCEPT I doubt that Sirius would be so easy to scare. Why didn't James just knock travis out when he first insinuated what he wanted Lily for or curse him? That was somthing else that didn't fit. on the whole, GREAT read. I also loved how ya used the title of the story in the last line. BRILLIANT!!!!
