Kid Me

When I was little, I was happy. I loved being me and just being a kid but the experiences I have been through have changed me. As I got older I started to understand more about the world but what I say wasn't good. The day after my 13th birthday I wasn't happy at all for my grandfather had died the night before. When I opened my eyes, the only thing you could hear was my scream. All of my family came running into my room and asked why I screamed. I didn't get it so I told them I had had a nightmare. But the thing is the reason I screamed was because a blond haired kid was staring at me. And I freaked.1

I called this kid The Little Prince for no real reason. As I was getting out of bed The Little Prince asked "Who are you?"2

My Reply was "I'm me and that's all I gotta be." 3

As I was putting in my earings he asked, "Why do you wear those things?"4

"Because their cool" I answered5

"Why are they cool?" The Little Prince asked and when I thought about it I didn't have an answer.6

When we went out to the kitch The Little Prince noticed my brother Troy. 7

"Why is he taking all those drugs?" The Little Prince whispered to me.8

"Because he is sick, he has something wrong with his kidneys and can't survive without the pills." That's all I would say but The Little Prince seemed satisfied with my answer.9

After I got dressed he asked, "Why are you dressed like that?"10

My answer was "To show people that I'm not afraid."11

"Afraid of what?"12

"Afraid of me." was my only answer to that.13

Because i was upset, I didn't go to school that day. After a while I got bored so I started playing on my mobile.14

"What's that?" asked The Little Prince with great curiosity. 15

"It's my mobile phone. You can play games on it as well as call people." I answered feeling very proud of myself.16

"Why do you play with it? What's it for?" Man, this kid asked a lot of questions.17

"You play with it when you are bored and it's for emergencies." That was the best answer I could come up with.18

"Oh, I would rather meet someone important to me so they know I love them than play on a phone. You people are very weird." said The Little Prince.19

As I was listening to my music later on in the afternoon The Little Prince was questioning me on it as he does with everything.20

"Why do you listen to this type of music? It is way too loud."21

"I listen to this music because it is how I feel inside and it is loud so no-one can hear me screaming."22

"What's this music called?" asked The Little Prince.23

"Heavy metal" was my reply24

"I'd rather listen to classical music that this. Classical music soothes your heart where as this just makes me feel angry inside." said The Little Prince. That one statement alone made me start to think about things.25

That night I was on the computer using MSN.26

"What is this machine thing?" he asked27

"its a computer. And right now I'm talking to people through internet." I answered.28

"Why?" asked The Little Prince.29

"Because I can."30

"You know I'm leaving tonight. Don't you want to spend time with me?" he asked.31

"Not particularly" I replied quite happy that he was leaving soon.32

"I got you a present. But you can't open it until I'm gone. It's on your bed. You know just because you don't like someone, doesn't mean that you can't say goodbye. What if someone else never said goodbye, then they would be sad forever." you know for a kid that was deep and I didn't knwo what to say. But it didn't matter because The Little Prince kept talking. "I've noticed that people don't always get what they deserve in this world but that can change. People die, kids fall over, Bad things happen to girls with bad daddies but that doesn't mean you can be mean to them. Just by saying goodbye with a smile on your face gives one hope. It only takes a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Goodbye." The Little Prince said with a smile on his face.33

"Goodbye" I said smiling back. the gift he gave me was a cd of classical music. There was a note on it. It read "live in the present. Don't use the past for an excuse on how to act or think."34
