The Ultimate Dream

Sixteen year old, Dani and her best friend Chevis, pulled up in Dani's beautiful 1966 Black Chevy Chevelle. The engine roared as the crowd turned their heads. The black body seemed to glow as the sun shined hard down upon it. The engine quieted down as Dani looked around to see the compitetion.
Cars were everywhere. Camaros, Chevys, Fords, Chargers, Impalas, Corvettes, any car you could think of could be found. Different colors and sounds of engines filled your eyes and ears. Dani fought back her fears and nightmares and continued to climb out of her magnificent car. Chevis noticed and reached over the middle to hug her. "It's alright. Eric is here." she said.
Eric, her boyfriend going on three years, walked over towards the honorable piece of machine. He took her hand and helped her out of the car. He smiled "I'm glad you decided to come." "So am I." Dani replied as she gave him a gentle kiss. "I'm going to go look around." Chevis said. "I'll meet up with you guys later." Chevis turned around and walked over to a silver 1971 Chevelle surrounded by guys.
Dani walked around the front of the car. Crowds gathered and swamped her with questions. Eric went back and sat by his baby blue 1968 Chevy Camaro. He smiled as he watched Dani talk to the crowds of people who seemed to hover around her like a single rain cloud. Her beautiful light brown hair shone in the light. Her hazel blue eyes seemed to glisten. Ocassionally her wonderful eyes met his and exchanged a smile. Her smile like auu watch my car?" "Ya, sure" Eric answered as Dave walked away.
Dani finished talking to the crowd about twenty minutes later. Eric watched as her beautiful presence made it's way towards him. "I hate people sometimes. They ask the same questions over and over." She said as she leaned on his Camaro. He just laughed and rolled over to hold her in his arms. She put her arms around him and ran her fingers through his soft black hair. He finally loosened his grip and his big brown eyes met hers.
"Three years." she whispered into his ear. He smiled, "Three years." He leaned in and gave her a long sweet kiss. He took both of her hands and rubbed them together. "Three years is nothing, you'll be mine forever." he said. She could sense the love and passion in his voice. A single tear built and ran down her face. He kissed it away and held her close. Chevis finally decided to come back. "I got numbers!" she said with a laugh. Dani smiled as Chevis sat in the passenger seat of the Camaro.
Dani watched as hundreds of different people surrounded her car. Flashes went off from cameras. Once in a while she could over hear the comments being said. Everyone seemed to like it. Even though it's history wasn't as perfect as the car. Dani's thoughts focused back to last year. The week after her sixteenth birthday. With her beautiful car and new license. Second night out was spun by a passing car. Near death, Dani lay in the hospital bed for two weeks while her car beloved dream car lay in a crumbled mess.
Eric walked to get a drink. And Dani sat in the car. Again she fought back the fears and nightmares that came to her mind. Instead she focused on the one thing that made her smile glow. Eric. Eric was seventeen, they met at a street dance three years ago. He feel in love with her and decided to stay. He was homeschooled, and finished school at age sixteen. He convinsed an old friend to let him stay with him to be near her. She was thankful everyday for it. As she sat in the blue camaro, a smile grew on her face.
Eric walked back to the car. He sat on the ground near the open door, leaning his head on her lap. "Are you alright?" Eric asked looking at her tearful eyes. "Ya, i'm fine." she answered, "Just thinking." "Thinking won't do anybody any good." he said with a smirk on his face. She leaned down and kissed his devil like lips. "Get a room!" Chevis said in a childish voice. Dani laughed and turned to kiss him again.
As the car engines roared. And new cars pulled in from every direction. Dani and Eric sat and waited. After about an hour. "All car owners please come to the main building for the trophy presentations." the announcer said over the intercom. Eric and Dani took each others hands and walked over to the main building across the fair grounds. Chevis trailed behind. She was always a slow walker.
Once they walked in Dave motioned for them to come sit. They walked down the rows to a spot near the front next to Dave. "Are you guys alright?" Dave asked. "Of course." Dani said with a smile. They all turned to see the announcer walking up on stage. Chevis sat down. Dani noticed Chevis walking down, with her beautiful shiny brown hair, with blond streaks in many places. The waves bounced with each step she took. And he brown eyes reflected off the lights in the building. "Just like Chevis." she said. "Always got to make a big entrance." "Well of course." Chevis said. "But, you don't have to worry, you have all you'll ever need in your arms. You don't need to chase the guys." Dani smiled and looked turned her attention to Eric who was giggling. He got serious and turned to see Dani staring at him. "What?" he asked. "Nothing, I just enjoy seeing your smile." she said as she leaned her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
"Dani." he said quietly as he pulled her chin up to see her face, "I'll love forever you." "I love you too." she said as a smile grew.
The announcer made his way to the front of the stage. "Well, this has been an exciting day. We've seen many, many gorgeous cars, and various types. This was a hard choice to make. Because each car here is a wonderful piece of machinery. Well, the third place winner is....Derek Winmer with his 1957 Chevy." he said. A tall white man walked on the stage. He stood there holding his trophy as the audience applauded. "The second place will go to Eric Heller with his 1968 Chevy Camaro!" the announcer said. Eric stood up with Dani and hugged her tight. Then walked up onto stage to receive his trophy. Dani moved over closer to Chevis. Chevis and Dani both crossed their fingers and linked arms.
"And finally, the first place winner is...." he said. The pause seemed to last forever. Eric looked down into the crowd at Dani. He smiled and crossed his fingers. Dani bit her lip. "Dani Hergenrader with her amazing black 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle!" he finally said. Dani and Chevis both jumped to their feet. Dani hugged Chevis and walked to the stage. Trying to act calm, but inside her heart was beating fast than a drag racer.
She reached the stage and looked up at Eric smiling down at her. She walked up the stares and excepted the trophy from the announcer. The three winners stood together for a group photo for the newspaper.
Eric turned and took Dani's hand. Dani jumped on him and held him tight. Eric set her down. And walked over to the announcer's booth. He took the mircophone and walked back over to her and took her hand. "Before you all leave." he said. "There is something I would like to say." He turned to Dani and gazed into her eyes for a moment then smiled. He got down on one knee. Dani's eyes got wider and she got excited. "We've been together for three years now. They've been the best years of my life. I get up every morning to see you. And I couldn't imagine being without you." he said trying not to drop a tear. "I know we are young. And we have our whole lives ahead of us. But I am so in love with you. I want to spend forever with you." Finally after a tear fell from Dani's eye he continued. "Dani will you marry me?" he said taking out a small black box from his pocket. He opened it slowly, inside was a small silver ring, with a beautiful diamond. It glowed and shimmered in the lights surrounding the stage.
Dani stood an smiled. Couldn't think of the answer to the throbbing question that lay in her mind. Finally she said, "Yes!! Yes!!" she said holding back tears. "I want to be with you forever." Eric took the ring from the box and placed it on her finger. The crowed cheered and clapped. Dani jumped into his arms again. "Forever." she whispered. "Forever." he whispered back as he kissed her again.
Dani graduated from High School and her and Eric moved into a small house together. They married a year later. They opened a hot rod shop together and made millions restoring and building cars. They eventually retired moved into a huge house in Colorado high in the mountains. Where they would spend the rest of their lives happy with one another.

A nice little story and I liked it, but it didn't pull me in very deeply. You don't describe the characters' thought processes very well and the whole piece is a tad too short for my liking. But it is a very nice beginning.
