The Story of Life and Death

1

At the beginning of time a set of twin girls were born, they were identical, except for in coloring. The oldest, by a minute, had white hair, sapphire blue eyes, and very fair skin. The younger one had Golden blonde hair, sky blue eyes, and tanned skin. The mother decided to wait till they were older to decide their names, so for twenty-one years they were simple called Moon and Sun. The two grew quickly, becoming tall in height, around 5'9, and ethereal beauties. The two were close and best of friends. Then on their eighteenth birthday it all changed.2

The twins were called in to a cave-like room; it was circular and had seats in a half moon shape. In those seats were a set of councilmen and women. They consisted of: A vampire, a Lycan, a Sorceress, an Angel, a Fallen Angel, a Demon, a Good Witch, a Bad Witch, a Finshai, an Elf, and a Goblin. They were seated in the half moon shaped seating area. The twins were put in a pentagram in the very center of the circular cave.3

The Twins were holding hands, but not in the least bit afraid, for they had grown up with the council their entire life. The Witches stood up and looked at the girls, the Bad Witch, Miya spoke first. These girls should have been separated years ago; the bond is very strong now." She spoke with knowledge, for the twins had formed an almost unbreakable bond. The Good Witch, Miya's sister Mylira, spoke next. "They are so close. The bond is so tight between them, I wonder if this should have been done sooner." She looked at her sister as she talked. They were talking to each other, instead of the other council members. The twins were becoming uneasy; the witches were saying some strange things about them. They thought having a strong bond was a good thing, it builds trust. The girls continued to hold hands, their dresses shifting as they moved closer to each other.4

After about an hour of arguing amongst their selves, the Witches told the rest of the council that what they wanted could be done, but it would be very hard. The council all nodded to go ahead with it and immediately left the cave, leaving the witches and the twins alone. Mylira walked over to the girls and smiled, "This will only take a little while, we just need to name you and put you where it would be most helpful." She said, giving them both a nice smile and a familiar voice. The witches then took the girls to a secluded castle in the middle of some snow covered nowhere. The girls were then sent to separate rooms in a castle. They sent the oldest; Moon, to the south tower and Sun to the north tower, on the opposite side of the castle, so they would see little of each other. Then the training began.5

They started training Moon in soul collecting, demon hunting, and emotion cloaking; they also started training Sun in healing, shading, and visions. The only thing both girls were taught that was similar was witchcraft. The girls saw little of each other for three whole years. On their twenty-first birthday there was a huge banquet in the dining hall of the castle, the council and their mom was there. The two girls came in opposite doors. 6

The South door opened and a woman walked in, hair so white and long it brushed the floor in a thin cloud of silk, eyes so cold and dark in the color of sapphire blue, lips of a soft grey hue, almost silver, and skin the color of ivory. The woman wore a black dress, the dress had a corset with sleeves that came to her elbows and then were slit open, showing her lower arm, the skirt was folded and pleated, with many layers of the blackest silk, it looked smoky. The woman had on no shoes and no jewelry; she walked to the end of the table, closest to her and sat down, at the head of the south end.7

The doors from the North opened as another woman entered, this woman had hair the color of the sun, golden, it came to her lower back in soft tendrils and curls, ever so thick, eyes of warm crystal blue, her lips caught in the light hue of a baby pink rose, and skin the color of a light tan. This woman's dress was white, with the same touches as the other woman's but one, this woman had on shoes, a simple pair of sandals made out of leather and worn in. The woman went to her end of the table and sat down, at the head of the North end, facing the woman at the other end.8

The council was shocked and amused by the twins new appearance and attitude, the bond seemed almost non existent. They were ready to name them, but not till after the meal. They dined on gourmet food and wine, chatting as if the past three years had been a blur, or never happened.9

After dinner the council met back up in the cave, where it all started at. The twins stood in the very center, but didn't hold hands. The Witches stood up and addressed the council and the twins. “For three years we have tutored, taught, and cared for these two girls. Now we shall name them, and send them on their ways. The names Moon and Sun are no longer the right names for them, even if they remember their names, they will not be called them any longer. The new names shall be their true names." The witches smiled and sat down. The mother got up and walked over to the girls, she smiled. "Girls, I am sorry this burden must fall on your heads and shoulders." She gave them each a hug and stood between them, Moon on the left, Sun on the right. "Council, May I present Death and Life." She said, holding up Moon's hand when she said Death and Sun's when she said Life. The girls were not shocked; they were told this would happen, by the witches. Death stepped forward and bowed to the council members. "I accept my true name, the name you chose for me." She said, nodding at them. Life did the same thing.10

The witches smiled and said, "Council, We must say something. Miss Death is a form. The Pure form as we call her. She does not have the emotions or soul her sister has. Instead she is hollow, not even human in a sense." The witches smiled at them and sat down. They had done what they were told to do. The girls were escorted out of the cave and into the night, the girls were told that they were not going to see each other ever again, and that they should say good bye. The girls nodded and walked a little ways away from the council, so they could talk.11

They sat down, side by side in the sand and held hands. Life spoke first, "Is it true that you have no emotions, that they removed them all?" She asked, wondering if that was even still her sister. Death looked at her, "Yes, they removed all the emotions and feelings. They think it will help in the tasks I will have to do." She said, her voice as hollow as her being. The sisters just sat there, not sure what to do. Finally the witches came up to them. "It is time for you to go." They said in unison. The good witch, Mylira, took Life's hand and said she was to come with her; they disappeared in a white flash and headed upward. Miya then took Death's hand and they disappeared in vortex of black fire....12

Chapter 214

Thousand years later council met again, it consisted of a Good Witch, a Bad Witch, a Lycan, a Vampire, an Angel, a Fallen Angel, and a Demon. They came together and decided that it was time that Life had an adversary; no one would treasure life if there was not something to fear. So they got together and set to work on making an opposite to life. 15

The Vampire and Demon agreed that it must be powerful enough to survive any type of attacks, possible an immortal. The Angels agreed in the fact that the being would have to have a soul and emotions. While the Lycan suggested that the being has no ties to humans, for they would surely corrupt the being. The witches nodded at these ideas and continued to make the being with different ingredients, potions, and spells. 16

After six months of hard work the council met again and the witches held up a rather small vile. They told the rest of the council that all that was left was to write the fine print and it would be done. They all agreed the Witches decided to make the message a curse as well: ‘A hollow heart of ice rests in a body of pure. Never get close enough to trust, for no one will trust thy self near one so dark. Thy feelings will never corrupt butt make the being more whole. A hollow existence around those who will change and find love, while the being can not.'17

Each council then dropped a single drop of their own blood into the vile, and then the witched dropped the note in... A great flash of light and a form appeared; a Woman.18

White hair that makes silk jealous and eyes so dark in blue that the Sapphire gem hides in shame. The woman stood a long frame of 5'9 with no shoes on. She wore a black, form fitting, dress. She pulled on a silver cloak and closed it tightly shut with a silver clasp. The council nodded and decided to add one last thing to their creation. 19

Music. That shall be your only outlet into which your emotions will truly show. You shall be able to play any instrument you pick up, and that music will calm and almost hypnotize the listeners. The council looked at her and she looked at them. She spoke, "You made me like this. My twin's adversary! You all are going to pay one day." and disappeared. 20

Death walked out of the council's room and disappeared, doomed to roam the Earth looking for one who would be able to bare trusting, and maybe loving the ultimate end, Death. 21

Author notes

In chapter 3, which I am working on, the story begins to focus on Death and what happens to her after she leaves the council.

This is the first two chapters of a book I am trying to write. I would love to hear some thoughts and Ideas about what could be done to improve it

    Wow!

This is very well written. Great story! Good descriptive words. It's like a myth really, how life and death came to be. Once again good work! I enjoyed reading it.
