A friend o my mothers Andy asked me where I was going? I am going to the bus depot will you give me a lift? Sure are you going to college? Yes college in California for four years. That’s good I am happy for you and wish you all the luck in the world. As I arrived at the depot the attendant asked were to Miss. At first I just looked at the wall and I didn’t now where to go, for I was so scared. I told the attendant to Los Angeles in California Please.
Just one ticket said the attendant., yes sir just one. That will be forty-nine dollars one way. Or do you want a round trip? No just one way Sir, thank you. I had to watch my money all I had was 800.00 dollars it was the money that mark and I were saving for the wedding. The wedding that was a joke. I would use it to get to California and become some one and show my mom I can support Joey.
As I waited for the bus my mind was racing as I thought of so many bad things. What will I do, were will I go, who will I stay with? The bus had just arrived, and as I boarded it, tears just flowed down my face. I had to be strong and not let me fall apart. I’ll prove to my m other I can support Joey and my self. With out her help. I decided to get some sleep while I could, because once I arrived no telling where I would sleep again. As I woke I hear the bus driver say, we will be arriving in Los Angeles in 15 minutes, please start to gather your items please. I was 8:45 am in the morning that meant we would be there about 9:00 am. As I looked out the window the town was so big I was amazed. Please pickup your luggage as you un-board, and thank you for riding with Greyhound.
All I could think of was that I was so hungry so I was going to fine a place for me to eat. Then a place for me to sleep before it gets late and dark. As I left the bus I started to walk to the main streets and I looked at amazement at all the tall buildings. An the large stores it was all so beautiful I was liking these town. As I walked as little further there was a sign in a window. Help wanted a young lady to do cleaning in the up stairs rooms. Room included and if interested please ask inside.
I could not believe, it was my lucky day or was God just looking out for me. As I walked in as tall thin man with a harsh look on his face greeted me. Can I help you young lady, yes I am inquiring about the sign out side. Has the job been taken? No, no not yet the salary is not much but the room and utilities are included. That’s fine I am new here and have no place to go. Nor have any work please I am a hard worker. Ok but first let me show you the room and you decide. Yes lets go and see the room please. As we walked up the stairs and down a long hall we entered a small room. Look you have a bed, a small closet and here is your bath room. And here is the small kitchen, not to big but ok for one person. I think you’ll be comfortable, what do you say. Yes I like it and it has a very nice view of the city. I bet the night is even more beautiful. I accept, if your willing to give me the job please. There’s just one thing I have to tell you first, what’s that young lady? I am pregnant four months but I can still work please give me this chance. Hum, ok the job is yours, rest and later you come down and I will show you the rooms you will clean an the lobby, ok.
Thank you my name is Ysenia, but they call me Jessie, good Jessie and you can call me Mr Tur. Yes, thank you Mr.Tur and I’ll be down later to see what are my chores, bye and thanks again. My god I can’t believe God I am glad your are with me. And thanks for putting this job in my path. And please take care of Joey and forgive my mom for being so hard with me. But I promise to work hard and go back and get my son, I promise God I promise God. It was hot and I sure could us a cool bath and a long nape right now. After my nape I went down stairs to speak to Mr Tur. He showed me the rooms there were only 10 and the lobby was small. Mostly vacuuming and clean them when they were empty. And most of them people living in them. And I didn’t work the weekends and he was paying me two hundred dollars a week. That’s not bad for not having nothing, and I can’t spend much all I need is for food. It was Friday and I was to start on Monday and I had 800.00 dollars with me.

I'm reading your story, Lisa. Is it going to be a novel? An interesting story line, but it will require some editing, but that can come later.
Jessie sounds like a strong woman, but I will have to wait for the next chapter to find out where you are going with her.
Waiting on edge of chair, for today's color of hair, lol.
Keep at it, don't forget about it.
All my love,
Brazos
