The sounds of the rain and the smell of the wetness, the fresh water that poured down outside wafted through the open door as she stood before me. The strands of her honey-brown hair were darkened by water as they clung to her tanned skin. I stared at her as her eyes caught mine, and through the chills that the cold breeze left on my skin, I could feel a rising warmth. This was a surprisingly welcome feeling as she drew nearer and brushed her fingertips across my skin. 1
They say that first impressions are the most important. 2
The first impression I got from her was from her walking in the rain. Skipping to the beat of a silent song in her heart, she seemed to fly between the drops falling around her, invisible wings carrying her on an impossible wind. 3
She was beautiful, with mascara lines on her cheeks and a line of blood running across her face. She definately looked worse for wear, with bruises down her arms and tears in her clothes... but somehow, I'd never seen anything more beautiful. I'd seen nice looking women before, but through all the pain and suffering written in the wrinkles on her forhead, she seemed to shine. 4
That was the first impression she gave me - worn out and tattered...it seemed that it was how she was supposed to be. It fit...and it was beautiful. 5
I've heard that it only takes a second chance to make things right. 6
This was a second chance. I could tell, as I felt her cold lips against mine and her chilled skin running over the warmth I held. It the seconds that we stood together, I could feel something rising inside me - the freedom she lived in seeping into me. 7
I knew that no matter what happened next, that moment would stay with me forever.
An individual is one who has grasped the essence of the soul and returned with it to the surface of this shell of a life. 8
In the days that followed, I found that the sunshine seemed to darken my mood where shadows and rainclouds used to; a bird flying through the sky would catch my attention in the middle of the street, and my mundane life seemed insignificant to me again. 9
I may never see her again, but it only takes one first impression to cut a life away from the norm. While we may always be puppets in this life under a ruthless master in the clouds, we can run free from our strings, and I know... 10
The next time I can, I want to leave a first impression by a chance... 11
I will walk when it rains.12
