Star Wars VII-Reconstruction Under Fire

The New Order is a new Jedi organization started after the Dark Times by Luke Skywalker himself. The Skywalker family quickly bowed out of its ranks though ashamed of its intimate involvement with it. While the Order of Jedi before the Dark Times had kept a close watch on galactic politics, the New Order had learned from that mistake and lived as a large collective in the outer rim. A few jedi left and formed Greys, jedis who practiced a less passive code and use of the force. The Order and the Grey coexist easily .1

The sith hadn’t risen to such power since the dark times, although seizing footholds in the newly reformed senate was a goal. The Lights and the Greys coordinated their efforts to thwart these attacks. But these attacks only sometimes prevented. . . 2

Scene 13

“Senator and Lady Konsa, it’s a pleasure to see you always,” Grey Master Sedik greeted as the senator and his wife descended from the hovercar. They were wearing matching blue robes, Lady Konsa also wore a lapaz lazuli broach below her brown hair. Neither looked like they were in a particularly good mood. Grey Master Sedik bowed as the Senetor and his wife passed and he led them off the hover platform.4

This was Dromo 3, a planet famous for its ‘perfect weather’. The thick atmosphere made the sky a deep blue and it never rained here. Thousands of years ago, a year of volcanic activity covered the ground with hardened lava and halted the water cycle by trapping the water within and beneath its layer. Not only did it never rain, there was no water above a hundred feet below the shifting deserts on the surface. This made training and even just surviving here harsh but it thinned out the less enthusiastic jedis. The temple itself was a perfect silver cube, the hover platforms on top, hovering about 5

“Sorry to bother you, Master Jedi,” Senator Konsa began, “and thank you for seeing us on such short notice.”6

“Think nothing of it, senator,” Grey Master Sedik, “Our methods are different from our predecessor’s but our mission has not. How can we help you?” Grey Master Sedik was actually 90 but age reduction technology made him appear only around 30. By appearing younger, the jedi restored the republic’s faith in jedi teachings and that age wasn‘t a requisite of jedi knowledge and power. The truth, however, was that the training methods and equiptment lost in the Dark had irreparably stunted prongs of the Order, training and obtaining the knowledge and power took longer than it had before. While the body could be revived, the mind couldn’t. Grey Master Sedik appeared a young man but his face held concern and worry beyond his apparent age.7

Sedik ushered politicians toward the elevator platform but the senator would not wait that long. “As you may know, there is a vote in a few weeks whether to lift embargos on the Trade Federation and Techno Union.”8

“Yes,” Sedik recalled, “That vote has been on the table for years. The vote was even voted on last time.”9

“Both of us have been receiving death threats for weeks,” Lady Konsa interrupted, sobbing though trying to hold back the tears, “They want Johnny to vote to lift the embargo. They took Sara . . .” The rest of the sentence was too painful for her to speak, she burst into tears.10

Senetor Konsa pulled her close and tried to comfort her. After a moment, he said what had to be said, “They kidnapped our daughter and threatened to kill her if the embargo doesn‘t pass this time. I don‘t know what they want me to do, I‘m just one vote.”11

“I sense you aren‘t alone in this, senator,” Master Sedik said, hoping he was being comforting, “But why do you come to us? This is a matter for peacekeepers, not jedi.” 12

“Please,” Lady Konsa, “they told us not to involve the peacekeepers. We don‘t know what else to do.” She broke once again into sobs. Master Sedik ‘pulled’ over a tissue box from a window sill on the far side of the room. Lady Konsa thanked him softly and took one. The box lowered onto the table.13

Spokesman for the order entailed many duties Master Sedik didn‘t enjoy. This was one. “I’m sorry but this is far outside our mandate. We‘ll look into it further and contact you if our answer changes but for now we can‘t get involved. I apologize.”14

A padiwan came into the room and showed the two of them of them out and Master Sedik leaned back in the chair. 15

Master Usay walked in and sat in the other chair. His tan cloak hid all but his naturally aged rounded face. “Sith?” he offered.16

“I‘m not sure,” Master Sedik answered, “there are a lot of other people who hated that embargo, not just the sith.”17

“Most have adapted,” Master Usay said, “the Techno Union and the Trade Federations have both found other means of turning a profit, this seems an odd move after 70 years. No one has anything to gain in revoking it but the sith have the most to gain.”18

“Its politics,” Master Sedik huffed, “we won‘t make the mistakes of the last order and interfere.”19

“Their mistakes were in sending jedi to negotiate treaties,” Master Usay corrected, “Ensuring and maintaining democracy is still part of out mandate.”20

“Very well,” Master Sedik conceded, “Find Sara and these kidnappers but do nothing until you hear otherwise. I sense something deeper in this situation. I‘ll teach your sessions for the next 3 days.”21

“Thank you,” Master Usay said as he stood and bowed, “I‘ll keep in touch.”22

Author notes

This is the introduction and the first part, the story is far too long for one sitting. I'll get the rest up soon.
