Sandy

I’ve worked hard creating these templates of pictures for Sandy. I’ve taught her to fetch soda cans, and to fetch for the phone, but this is different. To be able to have Sandy to type to me, tell me her stories, is a big step. 1

I bet you’re wondering, “Typing? A dog?” but that’s not how I see it. Sandy is an amazing dog. It all started when I met my deceased wife. That wonderful day at the theme park was a hurl of surprise for anybody. We met on a roller coaster. She got off because she felt sick. She was sitting in front of me. I remember seeing her beautiful hair flow down her back as she excused herself before the ride started.2

After the ride, I looked for her. I found her in line for a pond adventure skit. I pushed my way through the line and got up behind her. My plan worked great. We ended up sitting next to each other.3

”I didn’t think I’d see too many men on this ride.” She had said.4

I didn’t think I’d be riding this ride, I thought to myself silently. Her sparkling blue eyes flared through the darkness of the tunnel, a display of tadpoles and fish surrounding us.5

“You know what I really want?” She had said, “A dog.”6

That’s when I said it, “Well, If you go on one date with me, I’ll purchase you a dog.”7

She instantly agreed.8

And from there it was history. We got Sandy at a local dog shop, and we dated for 2 years. I asked her to marry me. She accepted.9

Now it’s been 15 years, In 2 weeks it will be a year since she has passed. Even though it’s been so long, I can remember what it was like the first time I saw her. 10

Her accident was a fatal, awful one. She was giving Sandy a walk, or the police say. 11

Apparently, a car was left abandoned at the top of a hill, and came running down the hill, slamming directly into her back.12

Thankfully, Sandy wasn’t hurt. That’s why I’m teaching her to type-to know what really happened.13

The funny thing is, is there was no car found. 14

I reach over quickly, grabbing the keyboard keys with soft drawings on them. I hold one key up in front of Sandy’s face.15

”What is this, girl?” I say to her gently, a calming voice.16

”Car!” She announced.17

this is such a cute and tragic tale all wrapped up in one. Good luck in the contest.
I'd like to hear more about how they picked out the dog was it hard to choose? what's the dog they chose look like. if the dog can talk why can't the dog just say what happened?
