Gemma ran along the slick, barely-flooded streets of Louisville. Her heart was pounding, her head was throbbing, and her legs were aching. But those were the least of her problems. She ignored all of these physical annoyances. Barely able to breathe, she finally rested for a moment, her back against a rough tree trunk. Turning her head, she checked to make sure she was alone. Seeing no one coming at her through the dense fog, she sank down to the ground, raised her head to the sky, and sobbed.1
********************************************************2
The plain and simple truth was Marlena hated Gemma. And Gemma wasn't too fond of Marlena either. It was a mutual loathing - each knew the other hated them, and they in turn despised each other more for it. But neither one could deny the intense chemistry between them. They had once been best friends. Not for long - they were practically inseperable for a month, but went their seperate ways after an enormous falling out. Anymore, neither of them could remember what the fight was about in the first place.3
It all happened so fast, neither Marlena nor Gemma could be sure who made the first move. It began as a fight. An intense fight. One moment, they were standing there, screaming obscenities at each other. The next moment, Gemma had her back up against the wall with Marlena's lips planted firmly on her own. Gemma's hands were strategically placed on Marlena's face, and they embraced eeach other as they made a furiously passionate connection. Almost at once, however, Marlena broke the connection and stared at Gemma, a look of horror and confusion on her face. And then she ran. Gemma just stood there, stock still, then bolted after her.4
