The Horrible Night of Dante

It was a cold and stormy night, the sky was aflame with lightning flashing occasionally, with the emanate boom of thunder that followed. When the sky wasn't lighting up, it was pitch black outside from the ominous clouds that blanketed the small town of Oakville. In one particular house there was a teenage boy, aged 16 and alone in a big creepy house. The thought of being alone didn't bother Dante as much until he decided to watch, "Unsolved and Mysterious Urban Legends" on televison, his favorite show usually. Until that night they ironically put on an episode about big houses and ghosts that haunt them. Dante usually was skeptical about the paranormal, but he found these stories quite interesting, because the program offered a good story behind the show. He grabbed some snacks and some soft drinks, settled down to watch his show when a brilliant flash of lightning struck just outside the building, immediately knocking the power out. This ordeal made Dante jump about several feet into the air, knocking his snacks everywhere, making him feel quite silly for being such a baby. He decided to go grab the flashlight out of the cupboard and clean up the mess he made before his dad came home. He found it quite hard to find where he was going since it was pitch black indoors now too, unless lightning lit up the sky occasionally outside, he managed to find his way to the kitchen. He pulled out the flashlight from the cupboard when another flash came about, and lit up the back of his porch, much to his horror, he though he saw a knife being held by someone outside. He turned around to see if what he saw was true, and flashed the light where he saw it, and nothing. He went closer to see what it was, and shook it off as his imagination, until he saw the knife sitting near the window sitting behind the toaster. The reflections made it look like it was outside, talk about more embrassment. He laughed at himself and started to turn around when a glimpse of a pair of eyes appeared outside. He got nervous again, he shakily moved his flashlight towards the source, only to find it was his cat outside wanting in. Dante sighed at his imagination getting the best of him all because of that show, he let the cat in and went back into the living room to relax. He got into the living room when he tripped over the foot stool by the couch and landed on the floor pretty hard. He was rubbing his side as a presence made it's way beside him, then overtop of his body. He thought to himself, Oh no I'm a goner, then a sudden swoop and the cat was on his back purring. He banged his head on the floor, this was getting out of hand now. He made his way back to the couch and wrapped the comforter around his body, trying to shake the bad images from his head. He cursed himself for being so wild with his imagination. Dante started to drift off into sleep when he got a phone call, that woke him up in a hurry. He picked up the receiver and said, "Hello?" Waiting for an answer he said hello again, nothing in return. Starting to get freaked now, as the silence dragged on, until there was this heavy breathing on the phone. Dante was about to hang up when the voice on the line spoke, "I'm coming to get you, I'm on your street!" The line went dead, and Dante went stiff, did this person know where he lived? Was that person going to kill him, or demand him to make a donation to the local church? Again the phone rang, he picked it up very slowly and stayed silent for a moment before saying hello. The voice was breathing hard again, then it spoke, "I'm almost there, I'm in your front porch now!" Then the line went dead again, now Dante was rigid with fear, what was going on? The was a light tapping at his door, then came a loud knock, then others followed. He reached under the couch and brought out the baseball bat he put there incase this happened. He almost decided not to open the door, but he thought to himself, this maniac might break a window or something. He readied his bat with one hand then flung open the door with the other when all of the sudden he was attacked! The killer got the jump on him, straddling his body, pinning his arms down on the floor, he was helpless. The he opened his eyes, to find out it was his girlfriend from down the block! Dante screamed at her, "Why in the hell did you do that just now?!" He was furious at the situation and proceeded to tell her off, "I thought you were a damn psycho killer!! I could have bashed you with this bat you know?!" She just kept him there and laughed, "Really, seems like I got the drop on you lover." She obviously didn't see the fear in his eyes, so he asked her a question. "What was with the heavy breathing and coming to get me thing?" She only shook her head and said, "I was running because it's raining outside, and I was coming to get you to come over to my place." Dante closed his eyes and leaned back a bit, then he opened them again when a strike of lightning lit up the background, illumating the sky, which uncovered a figure behind his girlfriend. He pushed her off and got his bat and swung it at the figure. It ducked and pushed him back on the floor pretty easily, then it spoke, "What in the hell are you doing Dante?!" The voice was his father's, and Dante sighed a breath of relief. "I'm sorry dad, I thought you were a psycho killer." Dante got up and hugged his dad, they all came inside and locked the door behind them. Dante told them both the story of his night and they both laughed at him, and the power came back on. So the rest of the night they watched movies, not scary ones of course, did not want to scare Dante anymore! 1
