A few notes in concerns to the web series "Sagittarius" (Read before starting story or you may be very confused!)

A note about the Sagittarius Series and some background on the story1

There are a great many stories involving the Crew of the Sagittarius Arrow and the universe in which they find themselves that I wish to tell. As a result, I have found it necessary to limit each episode to approximately fifty pages in length. This story is my substitute for all the great Sci-fi shows I love and have now reached the end of their runs. (Andromeda, Star Trek Voyager, ETC.) and I have done my best to instil some of the spirit of such shows into my own series. Disclaimer: I am not a scientist, I am not a physicist, and there are many aspects of the functioning of this universe that I do not understand. Therefore, not all of the occurrences in my story will meet perfectly with the laws of the universe. I apologize in advance for this and hope those who know better do not allow this flaw to get in the way of them enjoying this series.2

I think it necessary also to include some brief history in concerns to this story, as it is only vaguely touched upon in most instances within the story itself. Basically, the two main factions within the story are those of mankind and those of the Dragon Empire. First off, it must be observed that dragons are not, in this tale, the same as in traditional myth, but are in fact rather like humans in appearance. They do however, have their history with earth, and there are reasons for the distorted versions of dragons that humanity has held (Namely, the Dragon’s ships, which resemble, in design, our modern depiction of dragons as serpentine and winged creatures.)3

In my tail, Dragons also have their place in Greek mythology, as well as other mythologies elsewhere. Stranded on earth by accidents involving spacecraft malfunctions and sometimes even temporal mishaps, it is dragons that served as the sources for the myths of beings like Zeus, Heracles, and Achilles, their exceptional strength and superior technology allowing them to govern the human race as gods.4

As to such matters as travel and time travel. The ships in my story transport themselves through space by means of gravity based propulsion, using space folds to move great distances and gravity waves shorter ones. Space folds are actually space-time folds, however, time travel, in my story, is an uncontrollable and volatile thing, creating the necessity for temporal buffers to prevent travelling ships from being thrown into a different time period. (Though thankfully for the sake of plot, this technology is hardly flawless.) Time travel, being uncontrollable, is avoided, as ships, out of control, can be thrown either into a future where their weaponry is inferior, or even so far into the past that they go beyond the time when the universe was initially created (resulting in destruction.)5

Another note in concerns to the technology of my universe. Laser technology is very dangerous and potent, even the most minor of lasers capable of doing great damage. Thus, dampers are used that prevent the functioning of this and also of combustible technology, resulting in the widespread use of more archaic weapons such as swords, bows, and crossbows.6

It is important, in this explanation, to note the aversion of my futuristic races in concerns to Artificial Intelligence. A.I. is a thing feared in the era in which my story takes place, and meticulously hunted and wiped out. This is due to the A.I. wars, in which, during a time when A.I. was desired, the Artificial life forms rose up against human/dragons/and other biological sentient species and attempted to destroy them, resulting in a long war that cost the biological beings of the universe many casualties.7

Keeping all of this in mind, I hope very much that you will enjoy my story, in spite of its flaws, and offer me any comments or criticisms you think I need to hear. (One final note: Each of these episodes was written in the time frame of about five days, therefore, they are not perfect or polished in all instances, however I am not perfect and apologize in advance for any spelling or grammatical errors that may be present in the story.8

Sincerely, The Author. 9
