The Unlucky Me - Chapter 17

When I get out of the store Everett, Mason and Jimmy are all waiting for me. Jimmy opens his mouth to say something but I cut him off. 1

“I don’t wanna walk about it” I say.2

We walk out of the mall in silence and the whole drive home was silent also. 3

When we get home I run upstairs and go into the bathroom. I’m sure you all know what I did. 3 cuts…..on my leg. That’s all I’ll say. 4

After that I go in my room, close the door, blast the stereo and lay my bed. I lay on my stomach, while In The End by Linkin Park blasts through my stereo. 5

After about 20 minutes the phone rings. I answer it…not bothering to turn the music down. 6

“Hello?” I say in a tired voice7

“Hey babe” Matt says8

“Oh hey” I say, my voice suddenly gets happy9

“How are you?” he asks10

“Ok and you?” I say11

“Ohh…just peachy keen” he says12

I laugh and he laughs too13

“You wanna come over?” he asks14

“right now?” I ask15

“Chea” he says16

“Sure….I’ll be over soon.” I say17

“No…its ok. I’ll come and pick you up.” he says18

“Ok” I say19

“See ya soon babe” he says and hangs up. 20

I turn off my music and walk downstairs. I walk outside into the back yard and yell “Mom…I’m going to Matt’s house. When do you want me home?”21

“Hmmm…..be home at about 6 ok?” she says22

I glance at the clock in the kitchen. Its 3:54.23

“But mom. That’s like only 2 hours” I say.24

She groans and says “Fine. Be home by 8 and no buts about it” in a stern voice. 25

“Ok. Bye” I say26

I walk to the front door, open it, walk out, shut it and sit on my porch. 27

After about 2 minutes Matt comes zooming towards my house on a bike. 28

“Are you kidding me?” I say when he stops in my yard. 29

“I don’t have my license yet” he says30

I smile at him and get on his pegs. 31

When we get to his house he introduces me to his family. 32

“Mom, dad, Page, this is Ginny. Ginny this is my mom, dad and my sister Page.” Matt says. 33

“Nice to meet you all” I say smiling. 34

They all smile at me and then resume to what they were doing. 35

We go up to his room and sit on his bed. 36

“So how is Shane?” Matt asks37

“I dunno. I haven’t talked to him really. He’s kinda mad at me I think” I say38

“Why?” he asks39

“I dunno” I lie. 40

“Ohh…ok” he says41

“Yeah. So what do you wanna do?” I ask him. 42

“Uhh…whatever you wanna do” he says43

“Ok. You wanna watch a movie?” I ask44

“Sure. The DVDs are over there in that cupboard” he says and points to the cupboard. 45

I walk over and look at them. I pick out Bad Boys and we watch that. After the movie is over we eat dinner with his family. Then he walks me home. We walk up to my door and he kisses me. 46

I go inside and see a whole much of people in my living room. Kelly and Zach are home. They are upstairs sleeping. Jake, Karley, and everyone are watching TV. 47

“Shane called again” Jake says48

“Ok.” I say. I walk into the kitchen and grab the phone. I dial the number and sit at the counter. 49

“Hello?”50

“Hey Shane” I say51

“Ohh…hey Ginny” he says52

“What are you up to?” I ask53

“Nothing really. Just hanging out with Lily and her kids” he says54

“Hows that goin?” I ask55

“What do you think?” he asks56

“Ohh..I see. Sorry. Did you meet any girls yet?” I ask57

“Yeah….right. Like a girl would come near me.” he says58

“Don’t say that Shane.” I say59

“Why not? You don’t care about me anymore anyways” he yells60

“Yes I do. I never ever said that Shane and you know it” I yell back61

“Whatever. I mise well just stay down here. There’s nothing for me there anymore. You’ve got Matt now. No time for me.” he says62

“Yes I do Shane. You are my best friend. I love you like a brother. I always have time for my brothers.” I say63

“Is that all I am? A brother? Boy Ginny. You must be a dumb. You never realized my real feelings for you. Ginny I love you. More than a friend and more than a sister. You never realized it. And now its too late. Cause now you are going out with Matt Shaffer. The most popular guy in school. You are finally happy with life. You are a new aunt, you and your mom are finally getting along. You are getting along with Karley and Jake too. You have everything now Ginny. Me….well I have N.O.T.H.I.N.G. So now you know the truth Ginny. That I love you. And you don’t love me back. Which hurts a whole hell of a lot. So if you don’t hear from me for a while. Well then something happened. Something you wanted to do a while ago. So Goodbye Ginny” he says while I just sit there and listen. Then he hangs up. 64

I hang up and sit there. Staring at the phone. I turn it back on and dial his number again. Its busy. He must of turned on the phone and left it. He use to do that a lot to his ex-girlfriend. 65

I hang the phone back on the wall and walk upstairs. I lay on my bed and stare at the wall. After a while the tears start coming. Mason knocks on the door. I look up and he comes in and sits next to me on the bed. 66

I signed to him everything that Shane said to me. 67

He sighs and then signs “Well. Once the phone isn’t busy you should try to talk to him. And if not you should have someone tell him that you love him too. Just not in that way. That you care for him soo much.”68

“Yeah. I will. Thanks for helping me Mason” I sign. 69

“No problem. Its what brothers are for.” he signs and then hugs me and kisses my forehead. 70

Then he gets up and leaves. 71

I lay back down and fall asleep. 72

When I wake up its 3:37 in the morning. I try to go back to sleep but can’t. I walk down stairs and into the kitchen. 73

I open the fridge and grab a Mountain Dew. 74

I go into the living and turn on the TV. After about 2 hours I look at the clock. Its about 5:45. 75

All of a sudden the phone rings. 76

“Who the hell would be calling at this time?” I say out loud. 77

I answer it. 78

“Hello?”79

“Is Ginny there?” 80

“This is her” I say81

“Hi Ginny. Its Lily, Shane’s dad’s girlfriend.” she says82

“Ohh hi” I say a sick feeling in my stomach83

“Uhh…I have bad news hunny” she says sadly. 84

“Give it to me” I say 85

“Shane is in the hospital. He cut his wrists last night at around 10. I went to check on him around 12 and he was soo pale” she stops talking, I can hear her crying. 86

“Is he gonna be ok?” I ask holding back tears. 87

“Yes. But he is very weak. He lost a lot of blood. They’ve stitched up the wounds. They were about 5 cuts all around 2 to 3 inches deep.” She says88

“Wow. I say. Are you gonna bring him home soon?” I ask. 89

“Well his father is very traumatized. That’s why I called you hunny. I think I might have to come up there with them. I am very worried about them both.” she says still crying. 90

“I’m so very sorry you had to go through this Lily. You seem very nice.” I say91

“Thanks hunny. You seem very nice too. Shane has told me many things about you. Do you know why he would do this to himself?” She asks. 92

“Yeah…I do. He said he was gonna do something. I didn’t take it serious though. He is very mad at me. We got in a fight last night.” I say93

“Oh dear. Well hunny. I’ll tell him that you know and everything.” She says. 94

“Thanks. Can you tell him that I love him, miss him, and that he means everything to me.” I say95

“Sure. I will tell him all of that when I can see him.” she says96

“You haven’t seen him yet?” I ask97

“No. Only his father could go in” She says98

“Oh ok. Well bye” I say99

“Bye hunny” she says and hangs up. 100

I hang up and burst out in tears. 101
