Escape Ch.3

It was a cool, crystalline sky that graced the heavens this eve, that let the stars share their mysterious beauty. The ocean crashed against the rocky shore sending its mists over the grassy edge. The single tree that grew above the rocky cove let its leaves spread and sigh into the gentle breeze. It alone provided sanctuary for the soul lost in thought laying in its gently swaying limbs, taking in the night abyss above. A gentle sigh escaped the pale beauty that the tree had claimed as its charge.1

Its long pale golden hair wafted about his face allowing but glimpses of his vibrant green eyes that seemed to have a light of their own. He slowly stretched his lithe body before spreading his long black wings, and allowing himself to fall gracefully from his perch in the loving tree, and catches the breeze floating above the raging ocean.2

He let his worries drift away and closed his eyes in the blissful serenity and just sailed through the skies. His mind went in a million different directions and no where at once. He spread his arms and let the wind filter through his fingers, content and at peace. The full moon providing plenty of light, was already sinking into the ocean ahead.3

Slowly his world began to fade and crumble around him, slowly being replaced with the day as the sun peeked over the land. It was all over he knew and sighed in resignation, it always came, every night. So he let the light reach him and again sighed before once again stretching and opening his eyes and disappearing from his loved place.4

He blinked and looked around, and sighed, that was his favorite dream, he had it almost every night and it always ended the same way, and always in time with the real sunrise, he smiled slightly, that was his escape, no matter how short a time it came to save him.5

They said they would be better. That they would be around more. It was different, it was better for that year, for that Christmas rather. But the heart attack had more of an effect on his grandmother than anyone had thought. She died a few months after that Christmas. It made his mom upset. She didn’t even seem to live at home any more-more likely out of her suitcase with Erik, his step father. Jarith sighed and leaned his head back against the wall he was sitting against7

He had woken with the sunrise again, away from his sanctuary. He’d fallen asleep again in this spot, propped up in the corner of his room on the floor. Three months had passed since his grandmother died. He stretched slowly his arms above his head, which Kesler often teased him about looking cat-like. He grinned lazily and rose to his feet.8

His hand found his temple as he tried to fend away the oncoming headache. He and his friends had all ended up moving into the same house. So it was usually void of any chatter. But their music made up for the quite. Every one had been very open to them about renting and work despite their young ages, Sebastian, the oldest among them only being fourteen. Also as fate would have it they all worked at the same place together at the mall, which happened to be their favorite place to shop as well: Hot Topic.9

They got the jobs about a month ago, and they had moved in together just a short while after Christmas. He yawned and walked to the bathroom down the hall to ready himself for the day. Their house was small but it suited their needs, besides it seemed to have enlarged itself on the inside while still looking small on the outside.10

Today was going to be just like every other day, same routine, same thing, he looked forward to it usually, but the conformity of it all was starting to get to him. He desperately hoped something would happen, to change at least on e day from the average for him.11

He sighed and walked down the spiral, iron stairs to the living room where his friends had already gathered. But it was different this morning, as if who ever was in control of destiny had heard his half hearted plead in his mind. The other three were gathered round looking at something though they blocked his view of it.
