Rena mounted Trinity, and fled the cave back into the storm. Even the raging winds and lightning were a better fate than the one her family and everyone seemed to expect from her.1
She urged her sister onward, without regard to the danger. Dragon's rage burned in her blood, and through her, her sister's. Trinity's wings beat against the wind.2
Rena's eye's blazed silver and colorless fire burned from her fingers. Lightning came down and struck the two sisters. Trinity began to fall, her wings beating helplessly as her sister's lightning consumed her.3
Rena's rage passed, and she soon began to lose conciousness. The last thing she heard before she fell, was a pack of wolves howling as they tumbled into the forest.4
Rena felt a hand pressed on her back. She looked up to see a man in flaming garb standing over her. Beside him was a woman draped in silver that made her seem as if you could step right through her. She opened her mouth to ask why it was so dark, but stopped. It should be dawn, but no sun peeked over he horizon, nor did the moon, which should have been full, did not hang in the sky. She glanced up again at the two figures.5
"You shouldn't have run," the man said. "We can't afford to lose you." 6
Rena opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. The woman came over from healing Trinity, and stared uneasily at Rena.7
"I still think we should have put this in the hands of other wings," the silver lady said, staring at Trinity. "Dragons make me uneasy."8
"Few other creatures would be able to hatch a human," The man said shortly. "Besides, if you would rather have this in the hands of pigeons..."9
The silver lady scowled, and knelt down beside Rena. "You will search the forest," she said in a hypnotic voice. "You will befriend the wolves. You will take human passage to Sarata and seek out the wolves of midnight, and the Wolfheart line."10
Rena felt fire light in her at the mention of the dragon's enemies, but the silver woman's voice engulfed her with a soothing mist that gave her a desire to obey. 11
"Many will tell you this will be a battle to end the seperation of the three" the man's fiery voice cut in. "and in a way it will. Humans, wolves, and winged creatures will have the barriers between them torn down, and chaos will begin...but it is necissary. The coming battle will unite the three, but this is not where it will end. Dragons and wolves will never harmonize..." He glanced over at the silver woman and chuckled at a scorch on the hem of her dress. "but it must begin now, while the time is ripe."12
The man and woman looked up at the sky noticeing that still only the stars lit it.13
"Obay our will!" The woman shouted as she began to disappear in a swirling mist.14
"Remember us!" The man called, his voice also becoming distant. "We will come when need is dire...but not before."15
Trinity woke with great ache settled in her limbs. Rena was sitting a ways away, watching the sun rise. She rose and walked over to her sister. Trinity stood.16
"What now?" Trinity asked.17
"We stay in the woods," Rena answered. "We find the wolves."18
The two sat there as the sun rose with a firey blaze, and moon sank with a silver mist, and wondered what would happen next.
