Cole's Robyn Sky-Part 3

6-5
“This morning, the town of Parian’s Peak was raided by the evil Lord Foquet and his apprentice, who still goes unnamed, but is getting stronger by the day. Agents showed up too late and found the town in flames. Foquet had been spotted leaving, readying himself and his apprentice for the next town. Our agents are stationed and waiting for Foquet to show. Maybe this time, we will not be too late…”
~from the journal of Eric1

6-8
“Yesterday, Lord Foquet struck again. He seems to be unbeatable. He froze over half of our agents, leaving the rest to try and dig them out before it proved too late. He moved on before he could be apprehended. We failed again.”
~from the journal of Scott, three days after the last attack2

6-15
“ It’s been a week since the last attack. We’re worried about the fate of the next town assumed to be on the target list. We’re not sure if Foquet will hit it or not, seeing as it is very small. Will he skip it and move onto the next on, or will he strike here too? How to know? How to know?”
~from the diary of Sam, day before Foquet’s next attack. 3

6-20
“He’s struck again. It gets worse and worse every time. Our agents are tired; my friends are all worn out from fighting so frequently. School is a sight to see now. At least our teachers don’t complain about the sloppy homework. We don’t have time to complete it now; we’re always busy. They are too I hear. This is the first time in Carros High history that there has been a situation where the teachers have to help us fight too…”
~from the diary of S’mary, four days after the last attack4

6-22
“Foquet’s struck again.”
~John5

6-24
“We were too late…again.”
~Sally6

6-30
“Got food poisoning in the mess hall today. That’s all that’s new…oh yeah, Foquet struck again.”
~Shelton7

“Well, it’s been quiet for a few days now. I can’t help but worry now. We had sent a team to help rebuild broken towns and help people find places to stay, but no one was there. Foquet couldn’t have killed everyone, could he? Cole’s been acting strange recently. He won’t let me go on any missions. Says something about ‘not losing you too.’ I think he hasn’t gotten over Sky yet. Even if he hasn’t, it’s annoying that he cares so much not to let me go.”
~from Cassie’s diary9

7-12
“Another day, another town gone flambé.”
~Cody10

7-13
“Not feeling too good today. Too many things happening at once. Foquet and his apprentice are coming closer and closer. I’m still shaken from my last encounter with his apprentice. (We don’t know the gender still, so I’ll use he) Last time, about a month ago, I made it ten feet away from him. It was just the two of us, and I wasn’t quick enough! He told me he could tap into our emotions, read them, and then show us something from the past. Do I believe him? Yes, he did it to me. I felt an odd sensation surround me, and when it stopped, he laughed and showed me how Sky died. It wasn’t Foquet who had done it, it had been him. I had to watch her struggle, and hear her screams until I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to leave! It still haunts me at nights. It comes back to remind me how I wasn’t there to help. I don’t want that to happen to Cassie, not to another friend. That’s why I ask her not to go on missions. I don’t want her to have the same fate as Sky…
It’s been two months and three weeks since Sky passed…”
~excerpt from Cole’s journal, tear stains removed11

7-14
“Six more days to go.
Six days until the three month mark…and we are all growing edgy.”
~from the diary of Zara12

Evening13

Two people checked into the Lllym Inn. Sisters, by the look of them, judged the innkeeper. It seemed odd that two girls might be traveling here a month before Foquet was supposed to hit (or, so he’d been told), but they paid well and he was happy. What he didn’t know was that these two ‘girls’ could create money by creating an illusion and then turning it real. What he doesn’t know can’t hurt him, one of the girls thought as she fell asleep, anticipating the next day ahead.

Author notes

Okay, yes, I'm aware that this is rather short, but I promise that the next chapter will be long! We are heading into the climax of the story, but I needed to show what was happening as time was passing, and this seemed to be the way to do it!
