Taking Back Tomarrow ::Chapter 2::

The car ride was silent- all 16 hours of it. The house was small, only having two bedrooms, a half-bath, and a kitchen/living room. It was hot in Virginia, especially compared to Michigan. Most of their stuff had been shipped down the day before so Shawn and his father didn't have much unpacking to do.

While bringing in the last of his clothes, Shawn noticed a shorter girl, about his age, with long blonde hair to about her waist. She was walking with two other guys and they seemed to notice him too. "hey you! New kid! HEY!!" the girl shouted but Shawn didn't think they were talking to him. He was used to people only embarassing him or just not even talking to him at all, so he paid no attention. The girl then came running over and jumped on Shawn's back, knocking them both to the ground. "Holy shit! What the hell are you doing? Who are you?!" Shawn says short of breath. Shawn was quite a good looking kid, but you would never know because he hid behind his long sandy brown hair. The girl looked into his eyes for a second, which were a peircing green with golden flecks. "I'm Marissa.... Do you think you would want to come chill with me and my brother, and his friend?" she asked nervously, but with great enthuseasm. "Shawn, you should go. I can finish bringing in these boxes. We can go through them later." His father said startling them both. Shawn nodds and the two teens got up and dust eachother off. "Shawn, huh? I like it." Marissa said with a flirty smile.

When Shawn got home later that night, he had a huge smile on his face. "What are you so happy about, kiddo?" his dad asked smiling back at the thought that his son is fitting in better here than in Michigan. Shawn just kept walking to the kitchen, then to the living room where his dad was sitting unpacking dishes. "What room is mine again?" Shawn asked in a sort of daze. "Go through the kitchen to the door next to the sink. I thought you might like that room." Dad answered. Shawn opened the door to find his bed already waiting for him. the room was oddly shaped. It seemed to have some sort of upper level, which you could get to by ladder. Curiously Shawn climbed the ladder to find that the other people left alot of things up there. There was a red loveseat, which was in really good condition, a telescope pointed out one of the 5 windows that lined the ouside wall, and a closet full of things. Shawn sat on the couch looking out at the stars thinking about the day he just had with Marissa. He must have fallen asleep, because he woke up and the clock on the wall said 12:30. He got up and decided to see what was in the closet. What he found would change his life....
