Give Me What They Want

Monday again, time for the story to repeat itself for the umpteenth time.I wish I could just stay in bed today and forget work and everything that has to do with it.Dream on Dave. Its time to drag myself from my red-washed bedroom and walk down to the guillotine. The stairs that lead to the dinning room, seem to be a different hue than yesterday, today they seem mundane yesterday somehow they seemed promising.I need to remember to buy some butter on my way home from work.Nothing tastes better than toast in the morning except perhaps a nice blonde on my knee, but its too early for that, almost.

Can't have much complaints about my job,it's not a CEO position by any means but suits me perfectly.I am that person that greets you once you come into a restaurant and books you your table and makes your reservations. Its a nine-to-five job but off course I don't need to tell you.
Bus is late as usual;"Good morning Miss.Hamilton"
"Mornin'Dave off to work?"
"Better than being off to court eh"
"Go on you cheek, have a nice day"
"I intend to"

Now it goes without saying in my position you have to be very sociable and you make regular acquantances some more welcome than others.I never ask for much but once I asked God to give me a way with words and he did not let me down, everything else falls into place. After half a day greeting customers having the same conversation over and over a favourite regular comes in at around 1ish;"Why hello Julia and Miss.Crawford you're looking lovely today"
"Im glad you noticed Dave Im meeting with someone later, keep it hush hush now luv.Im heading in now Julia"
"I'll catch up with you later mother,so Dave great weekend wouldn't you say"
"My dear Julia when will you learn not to ask such rhetorical questions, listen ace I've got some customers to take care of go inside have lunch I'll talk to you later"
"Tirrah for now"
Thats Julia she's one of my favourite persons I know and there aren't many of those. She comes here every other day has lunch with her mother than we meet up afterward and usually go for a walk where its quiet and dry and try to talk but end up doing anything but.Whilst her mother goes on to another one of her sordid affairs with God knows who,the way some people openly flaunt their private perversions is terrible.

The clock on the wall beside me can be my best friends or the vilest bastard you've ever known, but when it says 5 o'clock we are in love."Hey ace, where's your mum?"
"Oh she left early she got a call and had to leave"
(He wants it now,but Julia needn't know)
"Shame, well Im done now so give me a minute to change and we'll be on our way"
Luckily where I work is in a prime area by the coastline making it ideal for private walks and all that entails.Come to think of it the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.Walking hand in hand with Julia I watch people going by and I can't help arching my shoulders back, they're going where their 'life's goals'dictates. All I have to worry about is whats going to be on the box tonight, life is too short to plan it out all we have is the here and now,I thought.
"Want to go down to the beach ace?"
"Actually I thought we'd try out a nice little place I've heard of and have a drink there,a little novelty never hurt anyone"
Well Im anyone, but I'll give her this one for today.
"Alright ace as long as Im with you I don't mind"
"You're too sweet Dave"
When have I not heard that one before. It turned out to be a charming little place we went to,old-fashioned cafe, old posters of celluloid heroes hanging on the wall, soft background music, and most importantly golden draughts."What're you having?"
"I'll have some sparkling water for now"
"Right so one sparkling water and a pint mam"
"So Dave we've been meeting for quite awhile now but we don't know much about each other-"
"-Well Im alive and like you what more is there to now?"
"But there's so much more to it than that"
"Such as?"I knew where this was going and my busy half-life did not allow for long conversations.
"Such as what are your dreams, what are your fondest memories and suchlike?"
"Listen ace I'll tell you the story of my life:I cried-got spanked for doing so-I lived, and I will croak, probably in the night time"
"I've never heard anyone describe there life in 5 seconds"
"Well you never saw anyone drink his own recycled lager from the floor have you but you saw it didn't you?"
"Here we go again with the lager"
"Now-"
"Listen Dave I like being with you, you're alright but if we're going to go any further I want to know you more"
Funeral bells are ringing in my head."There's nothing to know ace what you see is what you get,you asked me what my dreams were well I don't bother about that at all, because if we start dreaming and planning our course we would forget that we are living"
"But dreams give you a purpose in live Dave, there must be surely something you want"
"If I tell you what I want will you please change the subject?Fine then...Give me what they want"
"Who?"
"Those two on that table,or the waiter whoever have your pick"
She frowned, she was getting annoyed, wrinkles of disappointment ruined her expressionfull face.
"Finish up your water ace lets go down to the beach were we can be alone"
"I don't believe Im up for it Dave, take me home please"

As I walked home alone,I wondered if I've lost something special,I haven't lost anyone special that much she showed me,but I have lost something.Miserable is he that is bereft of true friends, but I thought easy come easy go, tomorrow's a new day new people to meet, new arms to hold, new tender waists to clutch. But her face had become familiar to me,novelty never hurt anyone my arse, familiarity is where the heart is but now I can't go back again I cannot return to the past.
"Oh hello Dave just caught me on my way to the market,is there anything you want?"
"No Miss.Hamilton there is nothing I want, nothing at all."

Please tell me what you think

your story has a lot of promise but it tends to jump all over the place. One moment you're talking about a dining room the next you're talking about butter the next work. There doesn't seem to be any fluid motion to it.
the dialogue is confusing, I can't figure out who's speaking. after each period there should be a space.
Overall the story has a lot of possibility but it feels rushed. Try slowing it down a bit and let the readers get used to the characters. Good start though.
