Chapter One1

Tianna didn’t want to go to the Kitty Kat Club but she had promised an acquaintance that she would go and support her band. This club was in uptown where all the snobby, know it all college kids hung out and Tianna hated that type. To top it all off, it was mainly a techno club, and Tianna couldn’t stand techno. 2

However tonight the Kitty Kat Club was taking a break from their usually scheduled rave fests to host a symphonic symposium featuring a mixture of rock and techno which is why Tianna’s friend’s Industrial band, Bleeding Hearts, would be playing that night. Tianna didn’t even particularly enjoy her friend’s music, but she was a friend and a promise was a promise, so Tianna began to get ready for the night ahead.3

She had decided to dress gothic to fit in with her friend’s usual gothic attire. She carefully slid into her black leather mini-skirt which clung to her womanly hips and fell nicely upon her curvaceous black nylon clad legs. She then selected a slinky black off the shoulder Marilyn top that allowed for her long thick auburn hair to cascade freely down her bare shoulders. She laced up her knee-high patent leather boots which barely fit over her thick calves and then topped the entire outfit off with an elegant lace hooded cloak. She then made her way to the full length mirror in her bedroom to give herself one final look and make any necessary adjustments.4

Tianna wasn’t a particularly thin woman but her weight was evenly distributed enough to make her look wonderfully voluptuous. Being the vain Leo that she was, she loved to admire herself in the mirror and stood there longer than she really should have admiring her own beauty. She ran her fingers through her glistening hair and fluffed it until it looked tossed and sexy, but not too puffy. She experimented with different ways to wear her cloak. First she draped it over her shoulders and closed it completely over her outfit. Then she tossed it back completely behind her. She experimented with the hood up and the hood down. She liked to wear it with the hood up and her red hair sneaking out from under, but the hood never stayed up. So she conceded with tying it with the golden strings at the top of her chest.5

“Come on Jessie, we are going to be late!” She called to her roommate.
Jessie stepped out of her room laughing “I was waiting for you, you take forever to get ready you know that?”
“Hey, it takes work to look this good sweetheart.”
“So you keep telling me.” Jessie rolled her eyes.
They jumped into Jessie’s 1999 red ford escort and sped out of the driveway on their way to the club.6

Tianna had merely heard of this club and its reputation and have not yet stepped her own two feet into it before. As she walked through the doors she had to appreciate the ambiance. A little too fancy for her liking but beautiful non-the-less. The lighting was perfectly dimmed into a soft golden glow. She walked down a path past the bar and to the left where the stage was and couldn't believe the set up. It was like a big living room! Sure there were a handful of tables just like in any bar, but there were also a large sofa, a coffee table and a few living chairs. Also there were large sculptures, lamps and all kinds of fancy decorative items. Very untypical of a bar.7

"I certainly would hate to try and set up on that stage." Jessie said with a sarcastic laugh.
Tianna smirked herself when she saw the tiny stage. The Kitty Kat Club was used to hosting only techno DJ's so their stage was only big enough to accommodate a turntable set up and maybe a keyboard or two.
"Yeah no kidding, there is no way our band would fit up there let alone Angie's band, I wonder what she plans to do" Tianna said replying to Jessie's comment.8

"Hey Ti, I'm glad you made it!" Tianna's friend Angie approached her and greeted her with a friendly hug.
"Oh and you brought Jessie, great!" Angie gave Jessie a quick hug as well. "So what do you guys think of this place?"
"Angie...how the hell are you guys going to fit all your equipment on that tiny little stage?" Tianna asked.
"I don't know, it's going to be pretty tight. I won't be able to move around much. We are going on late because the prima donna in the first group doesn't want to start until ten." Angie said with an eye roll.
"Why doesn't she just go on second then?" Tianna asked.
"Because her little duo set up this whole show, and she demands to go first but not until ten." Angie stated.
"Alright, so besides them and you, who else is playing?" Jessie asked.
"Some band called Animalistic Tendencies, I've never heard them before but I hear they are pretty wild." Angie replied.
Jessie and Tianna nodded their heads in understanding.
"Well I should go set up, see you guys in a little while." Angie said and she sauntered off.9

Tianna went to find a table as Jessie went to get them a couple cherry cokes from the bar since neither of them felt like drinking that night.
"Look at all these typical Goth wanna-be's!" Tianna said to Jessie as Jessie came to the table with their sodas.
After a minute of people watching Jessie spoke up.
"Hey Tianna, remember how you said that techno enthusiasts are just computer nerds trying to be cool?"
"Yeah." said Tianna
"Well there is a prime example right there."10

Tianna followed Jessie’s finger to a guy dressed from head to toe in neon green, literally from head to toe. He had on a pair of bright neon green sweat pants, a neon green sweat shirt and a pair of neon green converse all-star high tops. He also had his hair spiked up and spray painted neon green. In a matter of fact, the only thing on him that wasn't green was a little black bandana with a skull and crossbones on it tied around his right ankle. He was a nerdy looking guy, extremely underweight and he had the big rimmed glasses just like a nerd would wear. 11

"I wonder where anyone would even find neon green sweat pants; you don't exactly find those at wal-mart." Jessie continued on, still poking fun at the guy.
"I don't know." Tianna said hushed still staring at him.
Tianna didn't want to tell Jessie, but she actually found herself attracted to the man in green. If there was one thing that Tianna loved in others it was quirkiness. She admired people who stood out and displayed a roaring sense of individuality, and in a room full of Goths dressed in black and crimson red, this guy was certainly an individual. 12

It was actually the same sort of individuality that perked Tianna's interest in Jessie well over a year ago. Jessie was (and still is) the lead singer and guitar player of a local punk band called Glory hole. The first time Tianna had seen Jessie, she didn't even know that Jessie was a woman until someone had told her. Jessie looked like a teenage skater boy with her baggie pants and boxers that hung over the top, a long NOFX t-shirt and a twin’s baseball cap. The fact that Jessie pulled the boy look off so well, better than any other butch girl Tianna had ever seen, is what started a deep admiration for Jessie which had continued once they became friends. Now not only were they best friends and roommates, but they had also started a riot girl band of their own called Jadestone Doll, and Jessie was helping Tianna make a name for herself in the Twin Cities.13

Tianna and Jessie were both completely disgusted with the first act. It consisted of the prima donna that Angie had told them about and this silly extremist left winged techno DJ and all their songs were of the extremist liberal persuasion. Tianna and Jessie were liberals themselves, but this stuff was just sickening. The lead singer dressed in a black trench coat and held a briefcase in her hand. Instead of a microphone she sang through a megaphone which was equally annoying. She kept posing herself in different poses and it made the girls laugh.
Tianna leaned over to Jessie,
"I thought doing the vogue went out of fashion in the early 90's." she whispered.
"No kidding!" Jessie answered back. 14

After that nauseating act, Angie's band Bleeding Hearts took the stage. Tianna wasn't a huge fan of her friend’s band but it was ok. Bleeding Hearts was basically your typical female fronted Goth band. Angie wasn't the best singer in the world but all the guys in the audience drooled over her because she was skinny and dressed in skimpy skirts and corsets. Tianna and Jessie helped Angie out by taking pictures and bringing Angie water while she was on stage. 15

Bleeding Hearts got done with their set and Tianna and Jessie went and sat back at their table.
"Do you want to leave or do you want to stay for the last band?" Jessie asked.
"We may as well stay, we have nothing better to do." Tianna replied. "Unless you really want to go home?"
"No we can stay, I like the name Animalistic Tendencies, I am interested in hearing what they sound like." Jessie said.
They then noticed the green clad man carrying a guitar and amp head onto the stage. Tianna and Jessie both shot a look at each other.
"Maybe he is their guitar player." Tianna said.
"That guy play guitar?" Jessie laughed sarcastically, "Yeah right, he is probably just a friend or roadie or something."
Tianna rolled her eyes at her friend’s comments, even though she started it with her techno geek theory. 16

Animalistic Tendencies took the stage and sure enough, the green man was their guitar player. They were quite the energetic band. The lead singer played a keytar and sounded like he was modeling his vocal stylings after Jello Biafra of The Dead Kennedy’s. Their bass player was terribly short and cute in a goofy way and dressed like a punk version of Angus Young. Their drummer was also a bit nerdy looking and had one of the hugest electronic drum kits Tianna has ever seen, yet she kept her focus on their eclectic green guitar player.17

He was obviously full of energy and the small stage was not allowing him to express himself. Luckily he had a wireless adapter for his guitar and was not bound by a cord connecting from his guitar to his amp. Tianna's eyes widened in amazement as he jumped off stage and began to mosh with the crowd as he played guitar at the same time. By the middle of the set, Tianna's eyes followed this man as he ran circles around all the tables in the club, not even missing one chord or note as he played his guitar while doing all of this. Sure Tianna was a bit attracted to him before, but now she was completely infatuated with this little green geeky man.
He had managed to completely amaze her. 18


After Animalistic Tendencies got off the stage,Jessie looked at Tianna and said "Well I guess I can take my foot out of my mouth now, that guy fucking rocked on the guitar!"
Tianna was praying that the green man would notice her and perhaps introduce himself. They had made eye contact and exchanged smiles a few times but Tianna was too shy to introduce herself and apparently so was he.19

The next morning Tianna daydreamed about the green man over her morning coffee at the kitchen table and was totally oblivious to when Jessie came in and tried getting her attention.
"Tianna! Hello! Earth to Tianna!" Jessie called out while waving her hand in front of Tianna's face.
"Oh I'm sorry." Tianna apologized as she was snapped back into reality.
"Alright, what famous rock star were you dreaming about now? Josh Homme again?" Jessie asked teasingly
"I am not telling." Tianna replied.
"OOOOOOO! Must be someone real then! You have a crush you're not telling me about?" Jessie persisted.
Tianna stayed silent and looked at her friend with a devilish smirk on her face as she sipped her coffee. Jessie's facial expression suddenly changed as she figured out who Tianna was thinking about.
"OH MY GOD! You have a crush on that guy from last night. You actually like him...I can't believe it!" Jessie screamed out.
"Oh come on Jessie, how could I not? He was unique and he totally kicked ass on that guitar."
"Yeah I was surprised to see how awesome he was on guitar; I have never seen anyone run around like that. He didn't even miss a note." Jessie agreed.
"Well Tianna it's about time you had a crush on someone around here. You haven't been on a date for years...you are so picky and you need to get laid!"
"Jessie, you haven't exactly been dating either."
"This isn't about me, this is about you Tianna!"
"Oh yeah I forgot, Jessie's love life is not to be discussed." Tianna said stopping to pat Jessie on the head as she walked out of the kitchen. A few minutes later she heard Jessie slam the door as she left for work.21

Tianna went on her computer to research a bit on her new love interest and his band. She found their website which didn't have much information, just a few videos and a link to their myspace page. Through their bands myspace page she found the green man's personal myspace page and discovered that his name is Ollie. "Ollie?" Tianna said to herself. "Well, a unique name for a unique guy I guess!"22

He really was kind of a computer nerd. He was completely obsessed with the color green. Apparently he never went on stage without wearing green. He was totally obsessed with typical geeky things like all the Star Wars movies and old Nintendo games. He had a list of all the Nintendo games in alphabetical order on his myspace page and highlighted all the ones he owned, in green of course. His goofy personality shined throughout the entire page and Tianna was happy to learn that he had a vibrant and wacky sense of humor. She looked through all his pictures and saw that behind all the green and glasses that he was actually quite good looking. Even though he was really skinny he had a quite toned body and even had a nicely defined six pack. Under all that green spray paint was a nice head of blonde locks. Tianna didn't normally like blondes, but it worked for him. 23

She went back to their main website and downloaded their music video for one of their songs called "Freedom Violation" which was a song about how Americans really don't have the right to freedom of speech and how everyday rights are being taken away. Even though it was a politically charged song, the guys of Animalistic Tendencies worded the song in a delightful satirical manner, humorously making fun of the issue rather than whining and griping like most bands do in their political songs. In this video Ollie was wearing neon green dickies and a black long sleeved shirt. His face was painted black and white (as was the other band members), his hair was properly spiked and spray painted green and he wasn't wearing his glasses. He was absolutely gorgeous in Tianna's eyes. 24
