The Friend

He was always there for her. She never cared.1

On the night of her birthday, he texted her:2

"Happy birthday. Smile always and stay happy, alright? See you."3

She never replied him. It was too much of a hassle.4

Another day, he texted her:5

"Hey, what's up?"6

She never replied him. It was a waste of money.7

It broke his heart.8

'She probably doesn't care.'9

One day, he asks her, "Hey, why didn't you reply my messages?"10

She replied him, "I'm broke. It was a waste."11

"Replying me is a waste of money?"12

She nodded. "Yes."13

His heart broke in two.14

"I have so many others I have to attend to."15

'So I'm not important enough for you?'16

Maybe they weren't friends after all, true?17

Everytime he saw her, he was reminded of the words she had said.20

There was once a friend I thought I knew well. 28

She was a girl I look up to and admired. 29

Her charming personality stood out among others which were dull.31

Now I know I was wrong.33

She was a mere passing wave; a part of the crowd.34

I was stupid. I was a fool.35
