The Three were waiting in the central area of the second floor. The room was in the shape of a circle and could rotate to block exit/entry from doors. The diameter of the room was over 50 feet long, and the walls were lined with books upon books. The floor was an eerie blue tile and there were four pillars holding up the level above.
Each leader of the world was doing something different while waiting. Darren had picked a book off the shelf and was flipping through the pages. Alyssa was peeking inside a vending machine Felicia had created and was attempting to pick a chocolate bar from the millions of selection.
Felicia had a ball and was throwing it at the wall, catching it when it bounced back then throwing the ball again.
None of them were worried about the approaching army. Felicia had already teleported most of them to various places around the world: Japan, Madagascar, U.S., South America, Africa and Antarctica. There was no way they could intervene.
The only troop left on the premises was a squadron who had been investigating the Chemical Arachnid room. They were now in the Virtual Reality Maze. This was a virtual maze that was able to change its layout to fit with wherever the people inside it found themselves.
There were only 7 enemies left in the building. Four leaders in the maze and three leaders (Dorothy, Gina, and Him) were heading their way.
Darren noticed some movement in a hall to his right and put his book back on the shelf. “Head’s up. Company’s here.”
“Hold on! I haven’t decided on a chocolate bar yet!” Alyssa groaned/ Staring at the vending machine, she waited for an answer to pop into her head.
The ball Felicia had been bouncing remained in her hands as she glanced at the door she had also seen motion in.
“Show yourselves!” Darren demanded, striking an authoritive pose.
Kevin, Dorothy and Gina stepped out from the hallway, each holding a gun pointed at one of The Three.
“Nobody move!” Kevin shouted to them.
Darren lifted an eyebrow, “Scary.”
Felicia continued to throw the ball at the wall, revealing no emotion.
“Drat! Choices these days!” Alyssa kicked the vending machine, totally unaware going on behind her.
“I said, nobody move!” Kevin fired a warning shot into the air.
Felicia caught the ball and Darren leaned against the wall. Both remained unfazed.
“Honestly Kevin, we’ve taken over the world. Do you seriously think we’d be afraid of something as small as a gun?” Felicia asked.
Kevin seemed shocked for a moment. “How…how did you know it was me?”
Felicia chucked the ball at him. He caught it with ease. “I don’t know. Radio interceptions-”
“I told you so!” Dorothy whispered to Kevin.
“-spies, reflexes, the fact that you never bothered calling or e-mailing after we took over the world and, oh yes, your unforgettable blue eyes.”
Kevin gritted his teeth; he knew he should have gotten contacts.
“I see you escaped the aliens,” Felicia nodded towards Gina and Dorothy. “You found the self-destruct button, I assume?”
“And destroyed your clone in the process!” Gina added.
Felicia shrugged, “No loss for me.”
“Stop chatting! This is an invasion, not some get together!” Kevin shouted angrily. His gun was pointed at Felicia.
“Darn thing! I push the button and it DIDN’T GIVE ME ANY CHOCOLATE!” Alyssa fumed.
“Try giving it a dollar,” Darren suggested. Alyssa reached into a pocket and searched for a bill.
Darren watched her for a moment, then turned his attention towards the rebels. “Could you finish this up please? We have business we need to attend to and a world to run.”
“You’ll have to cancel your appointment, because we are overthrowing your power. You three are now our captives and will be forced to renounce your hold on the world or be punished by me.” Kevin announced boldly.
“You and what army?” Felicia asked.
“The big army waiting for you outside if you try to flee.”
“Really?” Felicia asked, a smug look on her face. “I don’t think they’re there anymore. In fact, our spies tell us that they have all left.”
“What!” Temper enraged, Kevin fired a shot at her before he realized what he had done.
The bullet flew from his gun and barreled towards Felicia.
It suddenly stopped midair and then fell to the floor.
A realization dawned upon Dorothy and Gina.
“She…she still has her powers!” Gina yelled in surprise. Fear was plastered across her and Dorothy’s faces. “But how?”
Kevin turned to them in shock. “Are you serious?”
The room began to change to dark colors and a slight fog filled the room.
“Aren’t they cool?” Felicia asked as she stood up. “I thought to myself, it would be a real shame to lose them while passing through the ozone, so I traveled to a place where the ozone had a hole. The Artic!”
Kevin, Dorothy and Gina began to back away, aware of the danger they were in.
“Darren, would you mind if I finished off the annoyances?” Felicia asked as she ferociously eyed the cowering three.
“Be my guest,” Darren replied.
“DRAT! My dollar won’t go in!” Alyssa started pounding in the machine. “What’s wrong? Is my dollar not good enough for you? Too bad! You WILL take dollar! YOU WILL!”
Dorothy rushed over, “Here, let me try.”
Ignoring Dorothy, Felicia approached Gina and Kevin. Her eyes lit up and lightening began to strike areas eerily close to Gina and Kevin.
“RUN!” Kevin shouted. He and Gina broke away into different directions Felicia went after Kevin while Gina was chased by Darren. Felicia merely watched as Kevin attempted to dodge all of the bolts. Occasionally, one did hit him, causing him to wince. He couldn’t keep this up for too long.
Gina and Darren were fighting hand to hand (Darren had knocked away her gun). They seemed evenly matched, each avoiding the other’s blow.
“I don’t think the machine likes us that much,” Alyssa observed.
Agreeing, Dorothy glanced back at the battle. “Do you want to get involved in that?”
Alyssa looked back and frowned, “Nope. Back to the vending machine?”
“Back to the vending machine.”
They turned around and continued to attempt to force the paper into the slot. 1
“Felicia, can you hurry this up? You’re a reality bender; we shouldn’t have to fight!” Darren yelled through gritted teeth.
“Agreed. We have worlds to conquer and races to destroy. What was I thinking?” Felicia closed her eyes and took a breath.
This can’t be good, Kevin thought worriedly.
When she opened her eyes a shock wave was sent throughout the room. The walls trembled and the floor shook. All the books aligning the walls fell to the floor. The vending machine jumped, annoying Alyssa and Dorothy.
Suddenly, large bolts of electricity began to pour upon the stormy room. Kevin rolled to the side, barely avoiding a bolt in his path. When he looked back at where is had struck, he gasped. A four foot diameter circle of ash lay next to him. Realizing this was big trouble, he started darting around the room.
Gina did likewise, and Darren hurried over to where Felicia stood eyes blazing with yellow light. She won’t strike herself, Darren reasoned, safest spot to be is next to her.
“I knew you two would someday end up together!” Kevin jeered towards them.
That ticked both Felicia and Darren off. “We’re not together!” Felicia yelled as she threw a bolt directly at Kevin, it grazing the tip of his hair. The speed of the oncoming lightening quickened.
“Maybe it’s better not to anger the reality bender Kevin!” Gina yelled to him, dodging bolts frantically.
“Too late now!” he replied back, scrambling across the room.
“Felicia? Could I have some help here?” Alyssa asked, unaware of her friends enlarging temper. “The dollar won’t go in!”
Blind to what she was doing, Felicia threw a bolt at the machine. 2
It forcefully hit the machine, causing it to begin to sway. Taking no notice of this, Alyssa turned to Felicia, “Thanks!”
Returning to the machine, Alyssa pressed a button. When she heard a ‘thump’ of the bar hitting the bottom, she smiled with glee. Reaching down, she grabbed it and shouted, “Chocolate!”
The machine began to rock harder.
“Hey, for helping you get that, may I have a little piece?” Dorothy asked, suddenly hungry.
The vending machine lurched forward towards the girls, driven by full-blown gravity.
“NO! IT’S MIN-AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!”
Dorothy crossed her arms and pouted, “Fine! Be that way-aaaaaaaggggghhhhh!!!!” She had looked up and seen the vending machine crashing down on her and Alyssa. There was a sickening thud, and the screams stopped.
All action in the room froze. Every eye was focused on the fallen vending machine.
“Alyssa!” Darren cried out, rushing over to the vending machine.
Gina followed him, “Dorothy!”
“No…” Felicia gasped, watching them call for their friends. She knew that there was no use though. No on could have survived that. Felicia’s stomach churned. No way.
Gina turned to her, tears threatening to break free. “You did this! It’s all your fault.”
Stunned, Felicia took a step back, unaware of anything.
Kevin took a quick glance around the room. No on was fighting, they were all in shock.
“It’s time we ended this,” he whispered. Taking the sleeping bomb out of his pocket, he threw it onto the floor.
The sleep gas was released from the chamber and enveloped the air.
Kevin’s eyes became droopy. Annoyed, he realized that he shouldn’t have let out the gas without putting his gas mask on. Losing focus, his vision faded and he collapsed to the floor.
Darren and Gina quickly fell, but Felicia wouldn’t go down without a fight. She struggled to stay awake. As she fought, she kept thinking about how none of this was supposed to happen. It shouldn’t be this way!
And she would make it so it wouldn’t.
