Meanwhile, back at the spaceship…1
“Geez, I know she can, or used to, talk a lot, but this is ridiculous!” Dorothy whispered to Gina.
“…and you add ¾ cup of sugar to give it a sweet taste. And then you add sprinkles! Lots and lots of sprinkles!”
“Has she gone mad?” Gina replied. “Cupcakes? She’s taken over the world and the only thing she can talk about is cupcakes!” She watched closely as Felicia demonstrated how to put the icing on the top of the invisible cupcake. “Are we sure this is Felicia?”
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Dorothy asked, slightly confused.
“I don’t know…but I know one way to find out.” Gina turned to Felicia, “Are the cupcakes you’re making chocolate?”
Felicia looked at her in horror, “Of course not! Why would I nasty food? It totally ruins cupcakes! I would rather be caught dead then be seen eating that disgrace for a dessert!”
“Wow, that’s definitely not Felicia!” Dorothy whispered to Gina, “She could never give up chocolate.”
Felicia tilted her head, “Of course I’m not Felicia. I’m her clone.”
“WHAT!” Gina yelled, “We’ve been listening to the blabbing of a clone this entire time?”
The clone gave a pouted face and crossed her arms, “You’ve got a problem with clones?”
“No, not really…” Gina replied, just figuring out that even though this was a clone, the clone still held them captive.
Eyeing her suspiciously, Felicia’s clone continued on, “Clones really aren’t that bad. I wouldn’t know; the technical term for me is ‘replication.’” She looked puzzled for a moment. “At least, I think it is. I think I’ll go look it up. Where would aliens have a dictionary?” She wandered clueless out of the room.
“Ah! Peace and quiet at last!” Dorothy sighed, slouching herself against the wall. Gina slouched next to her.
“Obviously, the replication, or clone, whatever it is, isn’t a perfect copy of the original.” Gina said as she struggled to loosen her bonds.
“Is it hot in here, or is it just me?” Dorothy asked. Her face began to sweat.
“Not really. Why?”
Dorothy began to breathe heavily. More sweat poured down her face as she gasped for air.
“Dorothy? Dorothy? What’s happening?” Gina asked, slowly crawling towards her.
“Ah…ah...acho!” Dorothy sneezed, and fire came hurling out of her mouth. “I think I have a new power!” Dorothy blew fire onto her bonds and they fell off.
“Gina! I can untie you! Let me see your- Gina? Where’d you go?”
Gina had completely disappeared.
“Dorothy, I’m right here.”
Dorothy turned and looked around. “Where?”
“Right next to you. Can’t you see me?”
Dorothy looked in every direction, but she couldn’t see anyone. “Gina! That must be your new power! You can turn invisible!”
“I can? How do I change ba-” Gina suddenly reappeared. “Oh, like that.”
Dorothy quickly burnt her bonds and they found another escape pod/ Gina went in first, but before Dorothy went in, she noticed a self destruct button. Grinning, she pushed it and followed Gina into the pod. Being with the UNSP, they were able to figure out how to work the ship and set a course for Kansas. Why Kansas? Because the computer wasn’t that smart and could only enter the coordinates for Kansas.
“How long do you think it will take us to reach the planet?” Dorothy asked, looking out the window at the alien ship. It was the biggest thing she had ever seen. The sleek silver lining gave it an authoritive glare. 2
It was beautiful and horrifying. 3
Then it exploded and the shockwave hit them, tripling their speed.
“I don’t know,” Gina yelled as she grabbed her seat. “But it’s sure to be faster now!”
The Earth came booming towards them. As they entered the atmosphere the pod began to heat up and the felt the force of all the g’s they were experiencing. As the ground came nearer and nearer, Gina struggled to find something that would slow them down.
Where was it? Panicking, she started pressing every button she saw. (Note: Never start pushing all the buttons on a space ship, because you never know what might start happening. Poison goop, mutant monkeys, toxic chocolate, lord no! Anything. The characters in this story got lucky and hit the right button. You might not be)
Finally, as they approached the ground, their speed began to slow until it lightly set them upon the Earth.
“Wow, nice going Gina. That could’ve ended badly,” Dorothy sighed, opening up the hot door. “Things could’ve been a lot worse.”
They exited the pod and froze. 4
“Hands in the air and don’t move or we’ll shoot!” 5
They were surrounded by a squadron of military looking men who all had high tech guns on them.
The space directors immediately put their hands up.
A tall man stepped forward who looked to be in his twenties. He gazed at them, blue eyes seeming to pierce through their soul. After a moment, he decided they were harmless.
“Guns down.” He commanded. All the guns that had be trained on them fell.
The man approached them. “Who are you and why did you arrive in…what is that?”
“I’m Gina, this is Dorothy, and we are two directors in the UNSP. We were kidnapped by aliens and that would be the pod we used to escape”
The man looked at them and smiled, “I know you two, and you’re in charge of building that spaceship thing.”
They nodded, glad he didn’t think that they were-
“That means you’re an enemy.”
“What!” Dorothy exclaimed. “What do you mean? How can we be your enemies if we don’t even know you?”
“You work loyally for The Three. That’s what makes you an enemy. Not your lucky day, because you landed near the Rebellion’s home base. We’re going to have to take you two prisoners and interrogate you.”
The man shook his head sadly. Before he could motion the guards to grab them, Gina cried out, “But we’re not with The Three!”
The man glanced at them, “What do you mean?”
“We’ve been using our high positions to conduct inconspicuous research and have uncovered The Three’s latest plan. Before we could tell anyone, we were kidnapped by aliens and one of The Three was with us. We found out from her more details to their plans.” Gina explained rapidly.
“We’ll share the information if you don’t lock us up!” Dorothy told him.
The man thought about this. “Are you willing to join the Rebellion?”
Dorothy and Gina both nodded.
“Well then, welcome to the Rebellion ladies. My name is Kevin, and I am the leader of this organization.”
“Kevin? As in, Felicia’s Kevin?” Dorothy asked, shocked. 6
Kevin’s eyes went icy, “No, not anymore. Like you, I am one of the few people in the world who know the identity of Myra, Sari and Derrick. After that…well, I won’t go into it.” He turned, and started heading towards a waiting jeep. “Follow me.”
With a wary glance at each other, Dorothy and Gina followed Kevin to the awaiting vehicle.
“So, what information did you uncover about The Three?” Kevin asked as the car began to make its way to the base.
“They are going to destroy all alien life!” Dorothy told him.
Kevin raised an eyebrow in confusion. Gina and Dorothy went on to explain everything that had happened to them in the past few days, including meeting Felicia, superpowers, and the evil scheme. They went into detail about the scene with the captain and Gina told him about how they had been in something similar in high school.
At the end, Kevin was thinking hard. “I think we may be able to stop them.”
“How?” Gina asked. “What if she still has her powers?”
“Do you have yours?” Kevin asked. “If so, I would like some bacon.”
Gina and Dorothy tried to use their powers, but found they were gone.
“Problem solved,” Kevin relaxed. “I’ll tell you the details of the invasion when we get to the information center. In the meantime, welcome to the base.”
Dorothy and Gina looked out their window to the approaching campus. First, they approached a high security entrance. From there, they traveled down a dirt road, past the military bunkers and a gym. The two could see military personnel jogging, running, or walking around the base. Then they passed between two large buildings that were home to the 1st and 2nd lieutenants.
They were both shaped as quarter circles, and in the middle of the circle lay the information center. Kevin pointed out that further on were his own quarters, warehouses, training fields, runways, a fire house, infirmary and a police station. Dorothy questioned the use of a police station when all the police worked for The Three, but Kevin changed the subject and pretended not to hear.
“Here we are. If you follow me, security will let you in.” Kevin stepped out and led them into the circular building. Inside was an amazing sight. All the walls were lined with computers and screens of areas all over the world. Tons of people were monitoring each one. An official looking man walked up to Kevin and asked if he had received any news.
Kevin motioned Gina and Dorothy to tell their story again.
Afterward, Kevin said to the man, who he identified as Landon, “I think we should finally launch an attack on the base. It will be unsuspected, and these men will get some action.”
Landon nodded in agreement.
“Set it for 0700 hours tomorrow.”
Landon scurried away to go make preparations.
“You know where The Three’s base is?” Gina asked. “Nobody in the world has found it yet!”
Kevin gave her a sideways grin, “That’s because it’s located next to a graveyard underneath a porti-potty manufacturing plant.”
“That explains a lot.” Dorothy frowned in disgust.
“Well girls, I’ll have someone show you where you sleep. If you would like to join me for dinner, I’ll be eating at 1900 in the farther mall.”
With that, he walked away and escorts led the girls to their room.
Dorothy and Gina (as hungry as they were) decided to skip dinner. After all they had been through the past few days, they needed rest. So they made what use they could of the bunker bed and fell fast asleep.
Until the bell rang, anyway.
