A wave of dizziness overcame her again and she collapsed to the floor.
Alert, Gina and Dorothy caught her and put her on the bed. The swirling colors were very bright.
“Felicia? Are you okay? Felicia?” Dorothy asked.
Gina sat thoughtfully, “Why do I feel like we’ve been in this situation before?”
“Remember the soy sauce incident?” Dorothy reminded her.
Disgusted by memory, they continued their conversing while Felicia slowly came back to reality and the lovely stars disappeared. When her thoughts were rearranged, she remembered what Gina had said, “I feel like we’ve been in this situation before…”
Gina was beginning to remember!
Felicia couldn’t let this happen. While they weren’t looking, she figured out what her power was. How she figured it out, she wasn’t sure. At one moment, she just KNEW that she had the powers to bend reality. Like someone who draws a picture with their mind and it becomes reality, except she could just think it and she just KNEW it would happen the way she wanted it to.
If she had been 15, I would have been excited about how she could make chocolate appear whenever she wanted. But Felicia had changed. Drastically. If she had been 15, she would have already reminded Gina and Dorothy what had happened before, that all of them had been kidnapped before, and that they all had superpowers that went away when they entered the atmosphere, and that only she remembered. But like before, Felicia had changed. Her only thoughts were wonderments about when and how she could use this power to help herself. 1
A guard from outside came and opened the door, scaring Gina and Dorothy half to death. He motioned for the three girls to follow him, so they did. Felicia walked calmly through the oddly shaped halls while Gina and Dorothy were shocked at the awkward decorations. 2
They brought them to the pink room and forced them all to come in. Felicia was nervous, wondering what happened if you went in twice? She kept glancing around, looking for an exit. There was none.
Gina and Dorothy seemed startled by the room.
“Déjà vu,” Gina whispered. “Déjà vu big time.”
“Isn’t it great how they design this to reflect something we’ve seen on Earth?” Felicia stuttered.
Gina and Dorothy didn’t seem to buy it, but they didn’t mention it again.
The light flashed, and they were taken back to the room. When they got there, Dorothy and Gina kept trying to figure out why it seemed familiar.
“Movie? No…book? No…Iras-I mean, Felicia doesn’t write science fiction.” Gina tried. 3
Felicia couldn’t let them remember what happened, but she couldn’t think of anyway to stop it. They had both been flashed, meaning they would soon get superpowers too. What would theirs be?
Hopefully they wouldn’t get them for a few minutes, she thought, that will give me enough time to think of a plan…
Gina began to levitate, skipping out on the whole dizziness factor. She screamed, waving her hands in every direction in an attempt to balance.
Dorothy and Felicia stared at her, and then realized they should probably get her down from the ceiling. They both started jumping in the air, and finally grabbed hold of her and dragged her down.
“I…I…I…” Gina stuttered, “I’ve done this before, haven’t I?” Slowly, she released herself from our grips and started floating around in the air with a near perfect maneuverability. “I remember doing this from somewhere…”
Dorothy skipped out on the dizziness too, and a blast was release from her eye. It disappeared, and where it had hit, Dorothy found a plate of steaming bacon.
“Wow, that’s cool. Free breakfast!”
Gina watched Dorothy create more bacon to eat and suddenly said, “It was that light, wasn’t it? That’s what gave us the powers!” She turned to Felicia, and stared, confused a bit. “What do you have?”
“I’m…I’m not sure.”
“Wait, isn’t there supposed to be another person here? What was his name?” Gina thought hard. “Ken? Len? Den? No…Ben! That’s it! Where’s Ben?”
Felicia didn’t know how to answer her without revealing everything.
Luckily for her, a guard walked through the door and took them to the main room of the ship, where the leader/captain stood, waiting for their arrival. He wasn’t too happy to see them. Well, Felicia anyway. She’d guessed that he had heard about The Three’s quest to destroy alien life, because he had for some reason bothered to learn English to be able to speak to them. 4
“So, you return.”
“Return…”Gina whispered. “Meaning, we’ve been here before?”
The captain nodded, “Of course. Well, not exactly this ship, but another of it’s kind. Yes.”
Dorothy backed away slowly, then said to Felicia, “You said earlier you knew how to get us out of this place, so now would be a good time to do so.”
Gina looked at her suspiciously, “Yeah, you did say you knew how to get out of here. How would you know that?”
Sweat started running down her forehead. Before she could answer, the alien leader began to speak again.5
“I am RlirlkegRIIkdSFE IIIVIIIX. In English, Ronald. Captain Ronald of the ship the REVENGE.” He bowed. “I welcome you all aboard. I will introduce you all by your earth-known titles.”
Felicia immediately began to worry. “How about we skip the formalities?”
He glared at Felicia, “It is a custom of our people, if you did not figure that out on your last visit.”
“Our last visit?” Gina asked.
He glared at her too, “Yes, your last visit! The one where you all destroyed one of our best fleets. You probably don’t remember girl, because only one of you didn’t get you mind erased, so be quiet and LET ME FINISH THE INTRODUCTIONS!”
Felicia would’ve been worried about his temper problem if I hadn’t been worried about the suspicious eyes of Dorothy and Gina flickering towards her. 6
“Dorothy of the Uni-national Space Program, director of the construction of the best space ship known to man, I welcome you.7
“Gina of the Uni-national Space Program, also director of the construction of the best space ship known to man, I welcome you.”8
He turned to Felicia and grinned maliciously.
“And last, you my friend. What can I say about you?”
“You can say nothing at all and save your life.” Her voice went cold. Her entire posture changed. Felicia went from being the old Felicia that Gina and Dorothy thought they knew to who she was now. A stance of authority, serious face, determined eyes, and an air of confidence overtook the old self. She felt comfortable at last.
“Touchy, are we?” The leader grinned.
Felicia took a step towards him. “You will stop talking now.”
“Why should I? I’m in charge here. There’s nothing you can do about it.”
Felicia took another step towards him and he motioned the guards. They swarmed around her and one grabbed her arm.
“You will let go of me now if you value your life.” Felicia warned him in an icy cold voice. He gripped harder and she immediately knocked him to the ground and pinched the weak spot on the backside of his arm. He instantly went limp and the guards who were watching suddenly became alert.
Dorothy and Gina became tense and realized something was wrong with her.
The guards came charging and Felicia mentally threw them all against the wall. None of them got up.
She stood up and started walking up towards Captain Ronald. He froze from fear and couldn’t run away. “How did you find me?”
His eyes darted around, trying to find anyway to escape the fate he knew was coming.
Annoyed, Felicia asked again, “How did you find me?”
Panicked, he started talking, “Ben told us.”
Gina ran up, Dorothy in tow. “Ben?”
Felicia slapped him out of impatience, “Ben’s back? Yeah right. I sent him to the sun years ago. No human can withstand getting close to that amount of heat.”
“No! Years ago, before you three were first kidnapped! He was able to tell us everything about you and what was going to happen. We thought that since we knew, we could stop it. Our first attempt to thwart the future failed.” 9
“Are there anymore ships on the way?” Felicia asked, “Is there anyone else coming?”
His fear went away and he laughed, “Of course! With the entire fate of the galaxy resting on your shoulders, every race will join in the fight to prevent the worst from happening. Right now, thousands of armies are making their way across the galaxy. All that they need to do is destroy Earth, and you’ve lost!”
He laughed and laughed until he realized that she wasn’t scared, but amused. He realized really fast that there was nothing to laugh about.
“Are you done now?” Felicia asked him. she drew close to his smelly, alien face as he began to panic, “I suppose I should thank you for giving me the one thing I need to carry out my plans, but I’m not that nice. I will though, give you a gift for assuring my success: a quick, painless death.” With that, Felicia pinched him in the vulnerable spot, and he collapsed to the ground.
Stepping back, she surveyed her work. Wasn’t that messy; a nice, clean job. Except that…
“Felicia? What…what just happened?” Gina asked in a slight shock.
Stepping back, Dorothy said nervously, “I’m sure we have no reason to worry Gina.”
Felicia turned towards them and smiled evilly, eyes flashes about dangerously, “Let me tell you now, you have every reason to worry. Every reason in the world.”
“What?” Dorothy asked, “Felicia, what’s going on?”
“Haven’t you figured it out yet?” she asked Dorothy and Gina, taking a step forward. “Is it that hard to see?” Then she turned my back to them, “I guess it might be. I mean, it takes skill for someone to disappear and ensure that no one looks for them. Leaving false trails, slowly manipulating others and making it so they don’t see until it’s too late, it was all part of the plan. The plan that Ben saw years ago.”
“Ben…” Gina whispered. From the look on her face, Felicia knew that she was slowly regaining memory that had been erased years ago.
“You…you were…”
“Were what?” Dorothy asked, desperate to know why Felicia was acting like she was.
“You…and Ben…and the aliens…and us…”
Felicia grinned, knowing she had just received another power, giving her a total of three. 10
Gina’s face suddenly changed and all of her memory had come back. She looked at Felicia strangely, as if seeing her for the first time. She was, in a way.
“How? How is it possible?”
“How is what possible?” Dorothy asked her.
“How can she be…” Gina’s voice faded away as she stared at Felicia in question.
