The Unlucky Me - Chapter 14

When we get home I walk upstairs and change into sweat pants and a t-shirt. I turn on the stereo and then climb into bed. I hear someone knock on my door. 1

“Yeah?” I say. 2

Jake walks in. 3

“Hey kiddo. Shane called. He left you the number…here” he says and hands me a piece of paper. 4

“I’ll call him tomorrow” I say setting the paper on the table next to my bed. 5

“I’d call him now. He didn’t sound good” Jake says6

“Whats wrong?” I ask7

“I dunno. He just said that he really needs to talk to you” Jake says8

“Ok. Can you hand me the phone before you leave?” I ask. 9

“Sure” he says and hands me then phone, then walks out. 10

I grab the paper and dial the number. 11

It rings twice and then a girl answers with “Hello?”
“Uhh…is Shane there?”
“yeah” says the girl.12

“Hello” says Shane
“Hey. Whats wrong?” I ask worryingly.
“Hold on……ok. My dad met someone” he says
“Oh my god. That’s it” I say kind of laughing
“Yeah that’s it” He says in a angry tone
“Sorry” I say
“Its ok.” he says
“What her name?” I ask
“Lily” he says
“Oh….that sounds……nice” I say
“Yeah. She has kids too” he says
“Really?” I say
“Yeah. A boy that is 16, a girl that is 14 and another girl that is 7.” Shane says
“Oh. Are they nice?” I ask
“Yeah…right. The boy is an asshole. The 14 year old will not leave me alone and the 7 year old is fuckin annoying” He says
I laugh and say “I’m sorry”
“Its ok……I miss you so much Gin” he says
“I miss you too Shane” I say
“So how’s Matt?” He asks
“Uhh…..I kinda need to tell you something” I say
“What?” He asks sighing afterwards.
“Well me and Matt are….are…..are going out” I say the last part really fast.
“Oh” Shane says
“Yeah” I say biting my lip.
“Well I gotta go Gin. I’ll call you again sometime” He says
“Are you ok?” I ask
“Sure” He says and then hangs up. 13

I hang up the phone, shut off the stereo and climb into bed. I fall asleep after a while. 14

The next day I wake up to screaming. 15

I run downstairs to find everyone running around the house and Kelly laying on the couch screaming.16

I run back upstairs, grab my hairbrush and adios and then run back downstairs. I slip on my Adios. Mom runs by me and yells “Help Kelly” 17

“Ok” I say18

I walk over to Kelly and help her up. Jake is on the other side of her. We help her into the back of David’s car. 19

I get in on one side of her and Jake is on the other, mom and David in the front. 20

We get to the hospital about 5 minutes later. 21

The doctors get her into a wheelchair just as Mason, Jimmy, Karley, Everett and Sydney all come running into the hospital. 22

“Ginny, Karley We would like both of you to come into the delivery room with us.” Jake says23

“Really?” I say24

“Yeah” he says25

“Come on people. Having a baby here” Kelly says and we all head into the room. 26

After the baby is born I go out into the waiting room to have everyone come and see Zachariah. 27

Kelly hands me the baby. I sit on the edge of the bed holding little Zach. I look at his cute little face and think “What a little angel.” 28

After about 3 hours after Zach is born we all go home except for Kelly, Jake and Zach. 29

I get in the shower and get dressed and everything. 30

Then I call Shane. But no one answers the phone. Then I call Matt and ask him to come over. 31

“Only for a little while though. I have to go out to dinner with my family” He says32

“Ok” I say.

In about 10 minutes I hear a knock on the door. I open it and see Matt. 33

“Hey babe” He says stepping in the house and hugs me. 34

“Hi” I say hugging him back. 35

We go and sit down on the couch. Karley and Jimmy are out. Mom and David are out back setting up our new pool. 36

“I got a new pool” I tell Matt37

“Cool. I’ll have come and swim in it soon” He says38

“Yeah, that would be fun” I say laying my head on his shoulder. He lays his head on mine and I smile. 39

Mason is watching us from the chair. I just ignore him and watch TV. After about 15 minutes Matt says “Well Gin. I gotta go. But I’ll see ya later ok?” 40

“Ok” I say getting up. I walk him to the door and he kisses me on the cheek. 41

He walks out and I shut the door. Then the phone rings. I answer it after 3 rings. 42

“Hello?”
“Hello Dear. Its your Aunt Grace, is your mother there?” Grace asks
“Yeah hold on” I say
I walk outside and up to mom.
“Mom, its your sister” I say
She looks at me with a confused look.
“Why is she calling?” She asks
“I dunno, but here” I say shoving the phone at her. 43

She grabs the phone and says “Hello?” then I go back inside. She was on the phone for the next 2 hours talking about who knows what. She always leaves the room if I walk in. Or tells me to leave. 44

After she finally gets off she calls all of us into the living room. 45

“Your Aunt Grace just called. And she and your cousins are coming to visit in a week. So we all need to be on our very BEST behavior and be polite. She thinks that our family is going out of control and wants to show me how her kids are the b…e…s….t kids in the world. I would like to prove my sister wrong for once” my mom says and signs. 46

I groan and so do a couple of the others.47

“Ok. That’s enough. You all are going to act like angels while she’s here Got it? My mom yells and signs. 48

We all nod or say yes quietly. 49

“Ok. Good” she says and walks away. 50

I roll my eyes and Mason smiles at me. I smile back a get up. I walk upstairs and into my room. I turn on the stereo. I lay on my bed listening to Pretty Girl by Sugarcult. I think about how next week is going to be a bloodbath. My cousins hate us…..and we hate them. They are all “perfect little angels.” 51

Lets see….there is Rudy, a 18 year old boy that is about 5’10 and has short brown hair. Jillian, a 20 year old girl that is about 5’2 and has long blonde hair. And lastly there is Nicole, a 10 year old girl who has long curly dirty blonde hair and is a little brat when her mother isn’t around. Now my cousins probably don’t sound that bad. And they really aren’t. Its mostly just their mom. She turned them all against people who aren’t Christians. Which I think is so stupid. Now you wanna know the very weird part? There is another son in their family. His name is Chase. He is 15, about 5’8 and has shaggy black hair. (He dyed it) He didn’t want to be a Christian. His siblings were all turned against him by their mother. She didn’t want anything to do with Chase and finally he got in big time trouble and is now in a home. Chase just wanted his family to pay one speck of attention to him. So…he started stealing. He stole tons of things from clothes and shoes to TVs and stereos. He even stole a car. That’s what got him in a home in the first place. My aunt refuses to talk about him at all. She won’t even go visit him. I’ve asked my mom many times if WE could go visit him but she always said “No. Your aunt will get pissed.” I feel bad for the kid. All he wanted to be himself and not get pushed to the curb because of it. But his plan backfired. 52

After I look at the clock. 7:00. I walk downstairs, get Fly ready and ask my mom “Can I take Fly for a walk?” 53

She nods and I leave.
