Chapter 1
The Beginning of an Era13

“Ah, Viktor, I should have guessed you would be here.” Nikki said snarling.
“Nikki, what a pleasant expectation. How quaint you are watching your own son from afar.” Viktor said viciously.
“Why shouldn’t I be here? Why are you here? I thought you didn’t care about your son.” Feeling the sting of Viktor’s offending words, she snapped back at him.
“He’s not ours, he’s yours! I rid myself of any relation to that half breed.” Viktor pronounced, gnashing his teeth.
“He’s not a half breed. Just because he lives with half breeds does not make him one. Besides it makes no never mind to me what you say. Let’s face it, we both still have an emotional connection to Xavier.” Sadness fluctuated in her eyes as she turned away from Viktor.
“Like hell I have an “emotional connection” to him!” Viktor yelled, evading the truth
“Oh come on, thoughts better if you choose to like to me. I can see in your mind. You care for him. Don’t try to escape it; he’s your son too after all!” She said becoming offended at how much he rejected his son.
“Fine then, so I care. So what? That does not change anything between us Nikki. I know you still love me, don’t even try to hide your pain. It’s written all over your face. We were together, for a time. Things change.” Viktor said, sounding somewhat apologetic.
“Not things, Viktor, you; you’ve changed. I don’t even know you anymore. How can you love someone you don’t know?” Nikki muttered, holding back tears.
“I don’t know Nikki, you tell me. Tell Xavier I said hi.”14

And with that, Viktor was gone. Letting him go the first time was incredibly hard, and letting him leave this time hurt just as much. The cold February wind froze the tears running down her cheeks. He was right; she has and always will love him. But there’s nothing she can do about that. Part of her survived on the hope that, one day, he would come to love her again. Confusion was boundless in the recesses over the disintegrated, beat-less object she happened to call her heart. Why must she love someone, and that love not be reciprocated? Xavier is the only real connection to anything Viktor loves. No matter how much her pride wants to take Xavier to live with her, she would never do that to Viktor. He would never be able to see Xavier. Moving was a regular habit. It’s also not fair to Xavier. He loves his “family” and his life. Walking unsteadily down the hill, Nikki arrived at the door to a well-built two story Victorian home. Shaking, she knocked on the white wooden glass door while she quietly listened and heard footsteps within, somehow knowing it was Xavier.

“Nikki, come in, I was just talking to your son.” Viktor said with a smirk on his face.
“Viktor, what the hell? I thought you left.” Recovering from shock at seeing him, she walked past him with a confused look on her face.
“Oh, yes, about that. While you were up there contemplating the meaning of life or whatever you were thinking about, I decided to come see him. I mean it is his special night. I thought maybe he could learn a thing or two from me. Get a guy’s point of view, ya know?” Completely loving Nikki’s surprised expression, he shut the door and walked right up the stairs behind her.
“Fine then, just don’t get in my way. We made a deal for me to teach him, not you. You, and I quote ‘didn’t want anything to with that half breed’, remember?” Now grinning at her courage to say that to him.
“Whatever. Deals are made to be broken also remember? You broke our deal when you decided to have a kind. We had made a deal NOT to have a child. But no,” Viktor spat angrily, “You had to go and get pregnant.”
“Right, like I could stop that! Plus it takes two to tango! Do me a favor Viktor, grow up.” Nikki fumed as she continued up the stairs.
The nerve of him! How dare he break our deal for me to teach OUR son how to be a vampire! Probably thinks I can’t handle it. Well, I’ll show him! I’ll show him who the better parent is!
I’m sure you will.
How dare you Viktor! What nerve you have to enter my thoughts! Forcing him out of her head, he got knocked backwards.
“Mom? MOM!! Hi! How are you? I haven’t seen you in forever! Dad, are you ok?”
“Yes, yes, I’m fine. I just tripped on a step,” turning his head slightly to glare at a sneering Nikki, “So how’s it going X? How’s that girlfriend of yours?”
“Girlfriend? Girlfriend? Since when do you have a girlfriend?” shrieked Nikki.
Although that does make sense seeing as I’m not really around much anymore.
“You are a good looking guy. You’ve grown so much, it’s no wonder you have a girlfriend!”
“Whoa there mom, breathe. I got a girlfriend few weeks ago. Dad met her. Her name is Clara. She is the same age as me. I really like her.”
“Well, that’s great son! I’m very happy for you. Wait, is she human, or what?”
“If you must know, she’s a full blood like me.”
“Congratulations X! I’m happy for you both! I’m suspecting she’ll be talking with her parents soon also?”
“Yes, she turns 18 in August.”
“Well that’s all fine and dandy, but do you think we could get on with this? I’m in a hurry.”
“Viktor, if you’re in a hurry, then you can just leave when you need to. I’m fine here by myself. That was our deal anyways.”
“No, thank you though Nikki. I came to teach him too, so let’s get on with it shall we?”
“Ok Xavier, what would you like to learn first?”

And with that, she and Viktor struggled to teach their son the ways of vampires. He was quick to learn, but slow to remember. The vampire laws were probably the hardest for him, but in the end, he mastered them and Viktor left. She said her goodbye, but didn’t leave completely. Nikki found a tree limb outside his room and watched him sleep.15

Dawn came and left, as did she. Although she came back to see him off to school as an adult, he didn’t know. Having her presence veiled, she could follow him anywhere needed. She wanted to see how he was doing today, since he just found what he was supposed to do in certain situations, especially around the blooded and beating. Even though the school he went to was a ½ or more school, she still wanted to see how he did. At first, the thought of putting him in a situation with one came to mind, but then it was decided against. He’d have his chance soon enough. Knowing if he read thoughts around him and happened to read her, he’d know he was being followed and probably get mad. She didn’t care. She was his mother. She could follow if she wanted to. Ok, not really, but she liked to think that way. He got safely to school so she thought it was a good time for her to leave.
You couldn’t help yourself, could you Nikki?
Oh, and I see you staying at home also?
Hissing and snapping right back at his snide comment, she wished him out of her head.
Yea I am actually. What, do you think I’d be stalking your son?
OUR son! And I’m only FOLLOWING him so I can make sure he has an ok day with all the information we told him. We did tell him quite a bit and it’s probably a great deal to take it. It was for me at least.
Wow, you really do sound like his mother. I never knew.
You knew quite well smartass. Don’t play those mind games with me!
Whoa there. Watch your words with me Nikki. You wouldn’t want to trip up and push a wrong button.
Why’s that? Are you going to impose an empty threat on me?
Threat, yes, empty, no. My threats are never empty.
Whatever you say Viktor, whatever you say.
IT IS WHATEVER I SAY! You better full well recognize who you’re talking to!
Oh God, not that ego again. You have got the biggest ego EVER. Someone needs to come along and pop that big head of yours!
Oh? Like who? You?
Why not me Viktor? Scared?
Bullshit, if you want to go, then let’s go.
Sorry, I’m not going to fight you. You are the father of my child, I will never fight you. You should know that by now.
Awww, your love for me is getting in the way of what you should do. You were always softhearted Nikki. That will one day be your downfall. Mark my words.
And your selfish, cold heart will be your down fall Vikky, mark MY words.
You called me Vikky, you never call me that anymore.
Well, why not? If we’re arguing, I figured I’d put in the name you hate.
I never said I hated it Nik, it’s just in the past, like us.
For someone who hates the past, you sure do bring it up enough.
Nikki grinned, swimming in the delight of her wounding words.
Yea, and for someone who’s moved on, you sure do dwell on the past often.
Vikki hissed with a vengeance. He was happy to have hurt her.
Well, what do you want me to say? Do you want me to say it? Is that what you want? Well, fine then! I still love you dammit!
God, why must you two fight this way? Why must you do this to yourselves? Mom, dad, and I both know you still love him, but dad, why don’t you admit what I know to mom?
Xavier’s mind said jumping into the psychological war.
And what’s that son?
Viktor was actually polite.
Your thoughts about mom might disclosed from her, but they aren’t from me. I know you still love her, so why not just say it?
Me? Still love HER? Yeah, right!
Viktor’s scream made Nikki’s ears ring.
Dad, I can read your mind right now. You still love her, so don’t yeah right me.
It hurt Xavier to hear how much his father resented his emotions towards his mother.
X, don’t push your father. If he doesn’t want to say it then don’t make him.
Nikki’s voice was barely audible as she spoke those pain-dripping words.
You’re right I don’t want to say it. It’s not true!
Fine then Viktor, whatever you say. I’m going home now. Xavier, have a good birthday. I’ll see you soon I’m sure. I love you son.

Walking away from X that day was a very hard thing for Nikki to do, knowing she wouldn’t be returning for a long while. It would be almost a year till she’d see Xavier and/or Viktor after she left that day. 16

Chapter 2
No Turning Back Now45

Why does it have to be her? Why did I have to go to that ball? I knew she was going to be there. Why did I have to be charming? It could have been Adreyn. If I would have held my tongue for just like ten more minutes….if I would have I wouldn’t have been able to get the beautiful, strong, and kind person that is Nikki. Now, all I have to decide is, is her love worth dying for?46

Memoirs of happier times for Nikki flood like a river through the dams of her past. As the memories flow, tears start to fall from her eyes, revealing the endless, ceaseless pain from her broken, dead heart of hers. Recollecting, she floats back to a day when she was happy. Never sure of when she was going to find the man of her dreams, Nikki always kept a watchful, invisible eye out for “the one”. Externally a cold and feeling-less bitch, Nikki was viewed as a ‘danger’ to all who met her, that is, till you got to know her. Internally, Nikki was a kind, gentle, loving person who cherished everything and everyone. That was including life, even if it was a cursed life. She learned information with her new found freedom that she never would have known as a human. She would have never met Viktor either. Nikki and Viktor met at the annual vampire ball at Kristopher’s mansion. Kristopher was the first son of Dracula and Kiela. Stepping into his house that night, Nikki never knew how much this ball was going to change her life. Wearing a silky, form fitting, floor length, lavender dress that brought out her violet eyes, heads turned when she walked in the room, but there was only one head that turned hers. It was the head of a dark, medium-length haired, emerald green-eyed boy. All during the ball, as people, male and female alike, swarmed to Nikki like flies to honey, Nikki wished that the young man who had caught her eye would come to ask for a dance or speak to her.
Well aren’t you the belle of the ball? A voice said into her head.
Oh, forgive me for being rude. My name is Viktor Kuchaovsky. You are a fledgling, are you not, if I might be so forward to ask?
Ye, I am. My name is Nikki Makovaska. May I ask who you are? Nikki said curiously back to the voice.
Well, if you would like to meet me, come to the center of the dance floor. I’ll be waiting.47

And just like that, everyone around her quickly ended their conversation and moved out of her way. Through the masses, Nikki made her way to the center of the room. There, she met eyes with “the guy”.
“Hello Bella. Wow, you are more stunning up close than from far away. May I have this dance?” He said with a devilishly shy grin.
“Of course, I would be delighted.”
Turning, twirling, and spinning, Viktor and Nikki got to know each other better. Nikki learned that Viktor had been turned when he was 20, but had been a living dead for 200 years. His knowledge was bewildering. Compared to him, she felt like a blustering fool. Her knowledge of vampires was minimal.
“Enough about me, tell me about you.”
“Not much to say. I lived in Seattle before I because a vampire. I got back to the sights change every now an then. My family doesn’t miss me…Mykaelia killed herself because I died…umm…I’ve traveled all over the world since I died. Umm…”
“I don’t get every girl’s urge to travel the world as soon as she’s turned. I wanted to meet vampires first thing, what I had become fascinated me.”
“Oh, well, my first wish was to meet other, but I wasn’t sure how to go about it. So I figured I’d travel the world and find some at the same time. Unfortunately, our kind is very hidden, very secretive. I don’t understand our hiding though.”
“People don’t understand us. That’s why we hide.” Viktor said bitterly. “Only half and full breeds understand us.”
“I know. I remember, as a human, vampires were just fairy tales. I always believed in them though.”
“Yes, that’s why Monica turned you. She felt death following you and knew you believed in us, so she decided to turn you. I must say, personally, I’m glad she did.”
“Thank you. I am too. Life was hell.”
“Heh, how so?”
“Well, for starters, my family didn’t care from the beginning, always saying I wasn’t theirs, and they never wanted me, my boyfriend left me for someone else, I couldn’t remember the last time I had been truly happy…there’s a lot of stuff.”
“I’m sorry Nikki if there’s anything I can do, anything at all, to make your new life better, don’t hesitate to ask.”
“Oh no, I love my new life! So fascinating, so different, so exciting! In fact, I’m going to Paris tomorrow.”
“Really? How delightful!”
“Yes, I think so. Say, would you care to join me?”
“Really? You want me to go Paris with you?
“Sure, why not? I mean, that is, if you would like to.”
“I’d love to! What part of Paris?”
“I have not yet visited the Eiffel Tower. Why don’t we meet at 8:30 at the Eiffel Tower?”
“Sounds good to me. Now, I believe I’ve taken quite enough of your time. You are new to this world, go meet people.”
“Why are you just a gentleman? Thank you, I think I will go mingle. It was lovely meeting you, Viktor.”
“No, the pleasure is all mine,” he said kissing her hand, “Good night Nikki. I will see you tomorrow.”
Nikki’s body might have left, but Viktor left his mark on her. While she was talking to a fellow vampiress named Jaden, a young taller man, in his twenties, with blonde hair and golden eyes to match, walked up to Nikki, with the intent on talking to her.
“Sorry to interrupt, but you caught my eye from across the room. You look like a ray of sunshine in this dreary world.”
This stunning young man sure knows how to talk to women. Nikki was astonished.
“Would you like to dance?”
“Dance with you, I don’t even know your name.” Nikki said playfully.
“Oh, I’m sorry; my name is Adreyn Virstrava. And what might be the lovely name your parents graced the world with?” Those eyes, those golden eyes…
I’m Nikki Makovaska. And yes, I would love to dance with you. Excuse me Jasmine.”
Jasmine nodded as Adreyn whisked Nikki away and onto the dance floor.
“So…Nikki, tell me a little bit about yourself. Where did you come from? How old are you? How did you become one of us?”
And that set them off talking and dancing forever. She found out that he was a descendant of Kiela’s daughter, Areida. He’d been a vampire much longer than she had He was charming, sweet, and flirtatious at all the right times. It was wonderful.
I don’t ever want this night to end. Nikki thought dreamily.
Me either…Adreyn replied.
It didn’t end for hours.48

Paris was great. She spent the next 3 months going on the most fabulous dates. She saw the world with the two most extraordinary men she’d ever met. Viktor was alluring, intelligent, and caring. Adreyn was charming, smart, and a great listener. She was falling for both of them, and it hurt. She just couldn’t choose. Then the unexpected happened.
It was Valentine’s Day, and she had planned a picnic lunch with Viktor, then a romantic dinner with Adreyn. It was noon and Viktor was here.
Nikki was never as happy as she was that day.49

“Wow, you look fabulous.” Viktor said as I opened the door, holding flowers.
“Thanks. Those for me?” Nikki said, moving out of the way for Viktor to walk in.
“Of course, only the most beautiful flowers for the most beautiful woman.” Viktor cooed sweetly, handing me a bouquet of vanilla orchids.
“How did you know I loved orchids? I’ve never told anyone that before.” Nikki smiled.
“I guess I just read your mind.”
Their day was magical. Nikki could still feel Viktor’s arms around her, even then. He was so caring that day. They talked about books, poetry, what they’re life had been like pre-change. He made her transition so easy. He understood her struggle to not regret her change. She remembered how she wouldn’t mind being with him forever. She didn’t want her afternoon to end, but after that was her date with Adreyn.50

“Hi sweetheart, you look wonderful. Ready for the best night of your life?” Adreyn said, holding chocolates and a single tiger lily, when Nikki opened the door.
“Thanks, as ready as I’m going to be. Where are we going?” Nikki said with a great big grin on her face.
It’s this great new place, Fallciagio’s. You’re going to love it.” Adreyn said as Nikki shut the door behind them.
The ride was a little longer than she expected, but Adreyn and Nikki kept themselves entertained with their duets of Evanescence. They arrived, and a valet opened her door. She remembered that the valet couldn’t stop staying at her in her black dress with roses on it and her hair up in a bun and red strapped heels.
“I hope you like it here. It was rated the top dating restaurant in the city.” Adreyn said, pulling out Nikki’s chair for her.
“It’s magnificent. It smells heavenly. The candles and flowers just set the most romantic mood.” Nikki said, taking in the atmosphere.
“I’m glad you like it.” Adreyn said sitting down himself.
“So…I wonder what’s good here.”
That started off one of the best nights of Nikki’s life. Adreyn and Nikki chatted over wine, salad, spaghetti, and rich piece of chocolate cake. But what was next she never would have guessed.
“Nikki, there’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you.” Adreyn whispered, caressing Nikki’s hand with his thumb.
“Oh? What’s that?” Nikki replied, traces of worry in her mind. “You know you can tell me anything.”
What does he want to tell me? The way he said it scares me, like he’s married or something.
“Oh it’s nothing too bad. Don’t worry.”
“Well, what is it?”
“Nikki, this time I’ve spent with you has been the best time of my life. You are the most beautiful, most intelligent, most genuine woman I’ve ever met. I know I will never anyone like you. Just the thought of you makes me smile. My happiest times have been with you. You make the days sunnier, the nights lighter, the bad times better, the good times great; you just make me happy. I love you. And I know if I don’t ask you to be mine, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life. So what I’m asking I guess is will you, Nikkita Rose Jade Makovaska, will you marry me?” Adreyn said, out of breath from nerves and saying so much while holding a box with the most gorgeous 2-carat black diamond ring inside it.
“Wow…um…yea…? You want to marry me? Why?” Nikki stuttered in astonishment.
Not many people can surprise me, but he sure did…
“I just told you. You’re the most beautiful, most intelligent, brighter days, happier--…”
“Yes, I heard all that, but that still doesn’t explain why you want to marry me.”
“Isn’t that a good enough reason? I mean, if that isn’t why people get married, then why do they?”
“Because it’s just the next step; they just love each other so much, and the only way from there is marriage.”
“But I thought we were in love,” Adreyn said taken aback and disappointed. “I love you.”
“We are but--…”
“But you also love Viktor.” Adreyn breathed. “I don’t see what you see in that louse of a man. He’s rude to your friends, insensitive, closed-minded…I definitely wouldn’t approve if I were your friends, but then again it’s not my decision.”
“Yea…I’m sorry. I…I…I’m not saying no, I’m just saying I need to think about it. Is that ok? I love you too; I just need to figure out what I’m going to do now. I’m not saying no Adreyn, ok? I love you.”
“I love you too. I hope you say yes. I hope everything works out ok. I just love you and want to be with you.” Adreyn said, smiling, a little happier. “Sorry I freaked out and got mad about Viktor. I know you love him I was just hoping I’d snatch you up first. I didn’t think about how this would affect you. I just was thinking about myself. Forgive me?”
Not unless you kiss me.
Those lips, those soft, tender, comforting lips…tears fell stronger and stronger as she remembered that kiss. That was what hurt the most about saying no to him days later. She didn’t want to say no, but she had to. She was with child; Xavier to be exact. Her saying no would be her downfall.51

“YOU’RE WHAT???” Viktor steamed.
“Pregnant. Honey, calm down, it’ll be ok, it’ll be fine; just calm down.”
“CALM DOWN???? YOU EXPECT ME TO CALM DOWN AFTER YOU JUST TOLD ME YOU’RE HAVING A KID???? YOU MUST BE JOKING!!!!!!!!!!”
“Well, we can’t get anything accomplished with you screaming.”
“I DON’T WANT TO GET ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED!!!! I WANT YOU TO NOT BE PREGNANT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS SCREWS EVERYTHING UP!!!!!”
“…That was very hurtful. I know you don’t mean it…do you?”
“HAVE I SAID ANYTHING I DON’T MEAN??!!”
“...Sadly no. WELL IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE HERE, YOU CAN JUST LEAVE!!! GO BACK TO ADREYN HE’LL TAKE ME BACK.”
“Oh yea, real mature. Threaten me with that again, will ya? I need another threat from you about him. You mention him so much that I think you wish you would have stay with him.”
Sometimes I do wish that. You have such a fiery temper. I just don’t know what to do about it.
You know I just heard that.
Of course, I’m not stupid.
“Well, if you want to be with him, then just leave.”
“I’m not going to leave the father of my baby to be for another man.”
“Then I’ll do you a favor and leave for you.”52

Chapter 3
Returning To Pain68

Days went by slowly like leaves drifting to the ground from their branches in autumn. Her life without Viktor and with Xavier was always full of twists and turns, never boring, always something new, especially since she was with Adreyn. It was amazing to find that he still was there for her. He still loved her. Although not a day went by when she did not think of Viktor, Nikki lived her life as if he never existed.

“Good morning sweetie, it’s time for you to go back.” Adreyn said, rolling over, softly caressing Nikki awake.
“Mmm…5 more minutes…I don’t want to wake up. I want to stay home and bake cookies with you.” Nikki said, stirring.
“No baby, you have to go back. It’s time for you to go back. Xavier will be wondering where you are.”
“I know, I’m just scared of what has happened since I left.”
“I understand sweetheart. But if you ever need me, all you have to do is think my name and I’ll be there.”
“You are fabulous. I will do that. I love you Adreyn.”
“I love you too baby.”

Now, after having been gone for a while, Nikki now had that wall to protect herself against Viktor back. Hoping for a brighter life, Nikki left Adreyn for a second time and returned to her original life with Xavier and Viktor. Scared of Xavier’s reaction to her return, Nikki somewhat unwillingly went back to see him. While knocking on the door, she somehow knew things here had changed too.
“Mom?!?! Wow! Hi! When did you come back? I’ve been wondering when I’d see you again! How are you?” Xavier said, opening the door.
“Hey X! I’m good, how have you been? Sorry about just leaving like that, but I had to get away. How’s your father?” Nikki muttered, shutting the door behind her.
“I’m fine. Viktor’s fine I’m sure, wherever he is.”
“Viktor? Since when do you call your father Viktor? And what do you mean wherever he is?”
“I mean he is no longer in my life, him and that fiancée of his!”
“FIANCEE? What the hell? Who? Who in the world is Viktor marrying?!”
“Monica something; I only met her a couple times.”
“Monica? Monica as in the Monica who turned me?”
“Yea, I’m guessing since she knew you. In fact, I think she knew you better than Viktor.”
“Of course Monica knows me better than your father; she was the one who ‘knew’ me in my pre-vampire days.”
“Oh, well then, that explains it.”
“Yeah, I bet it does. So, since meeting Monica, when was the last time you saw your father?”
“Well, now that I have a new mother, she’s been coming everyday and he usually follows.”
“Have they stopped by yet today?”
“No. I was expecting you to be them. If you don’t want to stay, I understand. In fact, if you did, I’d be surprised.”
“I think I’ll skip out on it tonight. Maybe I will tomorrow. I have to process this.”
“Ok, well, you better get going then. They should be here--…”
Doom came in the form of a ringing doorbell.
“Let me get this for you, Xavier.”
Wearily, she walked toward the door not sure how to act when she saw Viktor and Monica together.
“Viktor, hello, and Monica, how nice to see you again; how have you been?” Nikki said, seemingly unshaken at the sight of them together, as if it wasn’t difficult.
“Nikki? What the hell? When did you get back from wherever you were?” Viktor said, immobile at the door.
“Now Viktor, I didn’t think you would care that I was gone.”
“I’m sure you remember Monica.” Viktor said, shutting the door behind her.
“Of course I do. How could I forget her?”
“Nikki, so good to see you. You’re looking strong. But then again, I’m sure you’ve been through hell and back recently.” Monica said with a viciously fake smile.
“Thank you. You’re looking young, but then again, you never grow old anymore.”
“Now Nikki, play nice with the woman I love.”
“Love? Love? HA! Please. Don’t talk to me about love! You assumknow nothing of love! Love is wanting that person more than you want that next breath. Love is when you can’t stand being by yourself, but you don’t mind being with the other person. Love is an everlasting joy, not matter how bad you feel. Don’t talk to me about love! Now Adreyn, he loves me…”
“Yea, well, that’s how I feel about Monica.”
“Bullshit!! Viktor, your incessant need to fool yourself makes me sick! I must leave now; I cannot stand your lies a moment longer!”
And with that, she walked out the door and slammed it behind her.69

What nerve, what disrespect, what vengeance! How could he be so denying to himself? It’s just downright sickening! And Monica! Someone who is supposedly my friend/mentor to just turn around and take the one I love! Nothing changes in my life, all there is hurt, betrayal, and pain.
Leaving Xavier’s house, Nikki was totally confused.
How could Viktor do that? How could he get engaged? And to Monica of all people! She’s the one who changed my life drastically, has done it again! I guess she just loves Viktor also. So much for that wall of mine, just so hard to keep anything protected these days; no walls, no believed lies, just the real, uncut, raw me.
But, she thinks, what if I am wrong in my assumptions? What if Viktor really has moved on? What if I really am just wasting my time in thinking he could ever love me again? What if I’m just setting myself up for A BUNCH of pain? What is the purpose in that? Oh how it would be so much less painful if I just forgot all about that asshole! But how can I forget about someone who has turned my world upside down for the better? Maybe I just need to talk to him; but if I do, then all my time away would have been ill spent. Losing Viktor once was a bitch, losing him again would hurt just as much, if not more. Maybe I should go see Xavier.70

And go see Xavier she did.71

“Xavier, do you remember right before I left how you said Viktor still loves me? How did/do you know?”
“Well, that thick wall he had built around you was a transparent one. If you ask me, Viktor needs to work on his mind-veiling skills.”
“Yea, I agree with you on that. He could never hide anything from the woman he loves.” Monica said, walking through the door Nikki hadn’t shut
“Monica, nice to see you again. How are you? How’s Viktor?”
“Fine, we’re both fine. However, you are not. Nik, before I got engaged to Viktor, I was your friend. I still want to be. And as your friend, I can’t stand to see you in pain because of something I did.”
“No, no, it isn’t because of you, it’s my own damn fault. I should have never let go of him.”
“You didn’t let go of him, he let go of you.”
“Yes I did. By having Xavier, I let go of him, of us, of what we had.”
“LISTEN TO ME! You did NOT, and I repeat, did NOT let go of him; he let go of you. When he left you, in the first week of being alone, he came to me to ask if I thought he had a chance of get you back.”
“Wow, I never know he wanted me back. I thought he liked being single.”
“Of course he didn’t like it if it meant he lost you. Don’t you see? He was lost without you. Nothing in his world was the same once he left you.”
“Then why didn’t he come back?”
“Because, because I had fallen for hi and wanted him for myself. I told him he didn’t.”

Chapter 4
Discovered94

“Monica, how could you do that to me? To me, the one you made one of you. I thought that was some sort of safety net. I guess not, not from emotional pain at least.”
“I’m sorry Nikki, I didn’t mean to fall in love with him; it just happened to be that way.”
“Yea, I’m sure. What do you suppose I do now? He loves us both, but you’re the one who is marrying him.”
“Yeeea…about that, I’m not going to anymore. With your return, so does the reality of what I am doing to someone who was one of my best friends. I hope, one day, later on in life, you’ll see what it is like to love someone who is in love with your best friend and you, and realize that your friend’s happiness is more important than yours.”
“What are you saying? Are you crazy? He loves you, not me. He has said so for years now. What else am I supposed to think about what you’re telling me and what he says? It’s two different answers. After what you’ve done to me, I don’t if I could ever believe you again. What makes you think that I would believe you?”
“Because if you want a chance of happiness, then you’ll have to listen to me when I tell you that the only way to be happy is for you to realize that I am telling the truth and that Viktor does want you back. I know he does. Now that you’re back, you were the first thing he talked about, and the only thing he’ll talk about lately.”
“Really? I never would have guessed that he cared about me. I always thought, after he found out I was pregnant, he was going to hate me for the rest of his life.”
“Well, you are wrong. I mean, I’m pregnant. He doesn’t hate me. He has told me that the only reason he’s with me is because of it though, now that you’re back. He loves you, not me.”
How did I know she was pregnant? Oh well…doesn’t surprise me.
I’m glad you’re not mad. Monica sighed.
I’m not, just upset at Viktor.
I understand, but you can’t let that change what you need to do. You need to tell him.
It wouldn’t be the first time that Nikki had made incorrect assumptions about Viktor. He wasn’t the easiest person to understand sometimes. But through the confusion, she still loved him with everything she had. Now armed with this new information about Viktor, Nikki decided she should take charge of the relationship if she was ever to get him back.
“Monica, you truly are a great friend, but I do apologize that he loves me and not you. I know how much that hurts. I hope we can stay friends.”
“Of course, I’ll be fine. You just go do what you have to do.”

Not another word was said and Monica left. Head hanging high, though tears shone in her eyes, she left. Nikki knew what she had done, but inside she knew Monica would find someone else.
Monica is strong, she told herself, she’ll be just fine.
Nikki said goodbye to Xavier and decided there was not better time than the present to face Viktor.
There he is, she thought, he’s right there, just talk to him. For some reason there was something stopping her. Some unseen wall she couldn’t go around, some barrier she couldn’t hurdle was keeping her from getting the man she wanted. Go now, he’s leaving, GO!
And that’s how Viktor got away again.
As she watched him fly away, regret flew in her head as she realized she didn’t know how to find him now, Viktor wasn’t one for staying in the same place.
I lost him. I’ll never be able to find him now…
She was just about to cry when suddenly, Nikki was in front of Viktor’s summer mansion in the Bahamas.
How’d I do that?
I thought you could use a helping hand.
Thank you Monica.
No problem. Now, go get your man.
Oh, and congrats on the baby, I hope it goes well.
Oh…I wasn’t supposed to tell you…but...you know, I couldn’t not tell you.
It’s ok. It just makes it harder to talk to him. Oh well. Have a good day and thank you again.95

In and out, she thought, just breathe in and out.
Why am I here? He doesn’t need me coming around bothering him. He got a future wife. He’s got a future wife and child. He doesn’t need his ex coming around making him uncomfortable by telling him that she loves him. Why did I ever listen to Monica? She was probably lying to me in the first place.
While trying to fight herself into making a decision, Viktor opened the door.
“I don’t know what’s taken you so long to knock, but I got sick of waiting.”
“I’m sorry Viktor. I guess I just got distracted. How are you today? How’s it been? I didn’t get a proper chance to talk to you.”
Completely taken aback by Nikki’s sweet, silent, yet apologetic voice, Viktor noticed his guard lower slightly.
“Uhh, fine, everything’s fine. And you, how have you been, wherever you were.”
“Pretty good, just trying to tie up some loose ends.”
“Oh and where would those ends just happen to be?” Viktor said, somewhat angry with her everything but clear answer, let his guard resume.
“Here and there, mostly here.”
“Oh any with anyone I know?”
“Possibly. Do you know yourself Viktor?”
“I would like to think so Nikki. Why would you have loose ends with me, and what about?”
“Because I do. And what about that’s for me to know, and you to find out.”
“I’ve been trying to read your mind this whole time, but your guard is up so I can’t.”
“Now why would you be trying to read my mind, when you know all you have to do is ask?”
“I don’t know. Maybe because you show up to my house, don’t knock for like 5 minutes, just standing there, then you come in and play all nicey nice, it’s just odd.”
“Well, there’s just something I wanted to talk to about.”
“Ok…”
“You see…I don’t think it’s fair that you left me because I got pregnant and you’re proposing to Monica and she’s pregnant. That’s just not fair. I didn’t even find out from you. I had to search her mind. That’s pretty retarded. You didn’t even come and tell me. I think, that if you’re going to have the balls to one, be with her, two, propose to her, and three, stay with her when she’s gonna have your kid, then I think I deserved to know from you, not her.”
“You know that when you lie, you ramble, right?”
“I’m not lying. That was something that was bothering me, I just had a lot to say about it.”
“That may be true, but there’s something else. I know there is, there is not use in lying.”
“I wasn’t lying, and there really is nothing else.”
“If you say so…”
“I do. God, why do you have to be so arrogant?”
“I’m not being arrogant, you’re just mad that I caught you.”
“I am NOT MAD! You didn’t catch me at all. There’s nothing to catch. Just leave me alone.”
“You’re the one that came to see me.”
“That I did, and I said what I wanted to say, and now I’m leaving. Why did think I could have a civilized conversation with you? You are one of most uncivilized people I know!”96

And with that, she was gone. 97

Chapter 5
Confucius Say Life Is Confusing119

120

What is she hiding? Why did she come? She said it was because she wanted to know why I hadn’t told her about Monica’s baby, that it was my place to tell her. So what if I didn’t tell her? Monica hasn’t been that happy ever since Nikki came back. I can’t really blame her. Monica seems to think I still love her; which isn’t completely wrong. But still, what does that mean? It means nothing. Who am I with? I’m with Monica, right where I want to be. I’m not going to make the same mistake twice. I’m just not.

“So, how’d it go?” Xavier said, opening the door for his mom.
“I couldn’t do it. I lost my nerve. I just couldn’t forget what I might be doing to Monica’s baby if he said he loved me too.”
I know this would happen. I knew she’d chicken out. But they love each other, why can’t they be together?
“Because we’re different people son.” Nikki said quietly.
“How are you different? Just because you dated someone while you were away -”
“And got pregnant…”
121

“…What???”
“Yes, Xavier; have you a sister.”
“I…I…what?”
“You have a little sister.”
Adreyn, if you can read my mind, come talk to me. Please, I need you.
“What makes you think he’s going to come?”
“Because he loves me.”
“Is he what you want?”
“I don’t know.”
“Are you happy with him? I mean you had to have been happy to have a baby with Adreyn.”
“Of course I was happy. I was ecstatic to be with a man who loved me. He forgave me for leaving him both times. Actually, if I want, I can marry him. He proposed again.” Nikki said, pulling the ring out of her pocket.
“Mom! That’s wonderful! Why haven’t you said yes?! I can see it in your eyes that you love him. Do yourself a favor and marry him. Do me a favor and marry him.”
“But I love Viktor too!”
“Yea, well, you’re too chicken to do anything about it!! So you are no longer allowed to use him as an excuse.” Xavier said fuming.
Why can’t she just be with the guy she loves?
“Because I love two guys. It’s not fair to Adreyn. You know that.”
“Yes, I do, but its also not fair to you to be stuck in this hell of not knowing which to choose.”
“It doesn’t matter if it’s fair or not. It’s the way life is. I can’t change how life is.”
“Mom, I mean this in the nicest way: You need to make up your fucking mind!! This switching back and forth is wreaking havoc on my brain. I can’t keep on encouraging you if you keep switching.”
“I’m sorry my indecision is causing you strife.” Nikki fumed.
“What am I supposed to? Am I supposed to say that I support it?”
“Yes. If you really support me, you’ll support me no matter what.”
“Yea, yea.”
“I wonder when Adreyn’s getting here.”
“Oh yea I forgot. When I talk to people, I seem to intercept the message they’re supposed to get. Adreyn said he’d pack some stuff, and be here ASAP. That was about 10 minutes ago.” Xavier said, disinterested.
“Oh, ok. I’m very glad you’re catching on quick to everything.”
“Well, you wouldn’t know how fast, now would you? You’ve been gone so much. But that’s ok. You have eternity to find out, especially since Adreyn’s here.”
Right as Xavier said that, the doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it! I can’t wait for you two to meet!”
“Hi sweetie!” Adreyn said, holding Jasmine, walking in the door.
“Thanks for coming. Xavier this is Adreyn, and Adreyn, this is my son, Xavier.”
“Nice to meet you Xavier.”
“Like-wise.”
“And this little darling is your sister, Jasmine.” Adreyn cooed, display the little bundle in his arms.
“Mom, she looks just like you! She’s precious. Can I hold her?”
“Of course sweetheart!” Nikki cried, ecstatic about the fact that Xavier already loved his little sister so much.
That’s one less thing I have to worry about.
Oh, I figured you already had enough to worry about.
Thank you.
For the rest of the day, Xavier, Nikki, Adreyn, and Jasmine sat at Xavier’s house, catching up on getting to know each other.122

Chapter 6
The Darkest Hour Is Just Before Dawn150

“My my, don’t you three look cozy?” Viktor said, walking in the unlocked door.
“Four of us. Hello Viktor.” Adreyn muttered.
“Four? Oh yes, I see,” Viktor said, noticing the baby sleeping in Xavier’s arms, “Whose baby is that? You finally find someone to marry you Adreyn?”
“No, he hasn’t because I haven’t said yes. And that baby, as you’re calling her, is ours, Adreyn’s and mine that is.”
“So that’s what you were doing, you were whoring it up with Adreyn.” Viktor steamed.
“Wow, why are you so angry? It’s not your baby.”
“I’m so mad ‘cause you come to my house, yell at me about not telling you myself that Monica’s pregnant, and it turns out you’re more than pregnant, you have a baby girl!!”
“Xavier, block this conversation please.”
“As you wish.”
WHERE DO YOU GET OFF TREATING ADREYN LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!????????!!!!!!! HE MEANS A GREAT DEAL TO ME!!!!!
Whatever. I have beef with you, not him.
Oh, the whole yelling at you about the kid thing. Puh-lease.
I mean it. It was totally hypocritical.
What do you care? You even like the fact that you don’t have a heart. You used to like it. Remember?
I do remember. That was before I met a girl that opened my heart.
YES YES I KNOW! Monica is the miracle you’ve been waiting for.
It’s not Monica.
Who is it?
It was you.
Me? You became cold-hearted after you left me.
Maybe towards you, you had hurt me. Of course I was going to act cold-hearted.
I don’t get you. You’re hot, you’re cold, you’re up, you’re down. Make up your mind!!!
I can’t. I want you and Monica. But apparently you want someone else also.
Wait…you…what? You want me?
Don’t play dumb. I know Xavier and Monica have been telling you.
I’m sorry, it’s just a little shocking to find out they were telling the truth. I want you and Adreyn both. I love you both.
You really want to marry him huh?
Well, I thought you were never going to feel for me ever again. Apparently I’m wrong often.
Apparently.
So what are you going to do?
I have no idea.
What are you going to do?
I think I’m going to talk to Adreyn and see what he says.
I think I’ll do the same with Monica.
Viktor, I love you.
I know…I love you too.
Kay, Xavier, you can take the barrier down, Viktor muttered.
Is that what you want mom?
Might as well.
Will do.151

And with it, went Nikki and Viktor’s happy moment. 152

After talking, Viktor left with a nod. Nikki said with Adreyn and Xavier for a little while longer, realizing finally she was tired. They left, Nikki not saying a word the whole way home. 153

“Nikki, Viktor said something to me while he was there.” Adreyn said walking in the house.
“Really?! How sweet of him.”
“I knew it.”
“What?”
“He loves you and you love him. Why do I even try?”
“Now Adri, it’s not like that. You know I love you too.”
“Are we back to that? Are we back there?”
“What do you want me to do? You want to me to just pick and be happy? That’s not how it works.”
“Do what you want, but once you’re gone, you can’t come back. I mean it. I was hurting the whole time you were gone, I think I can do it again.” Adreyn said, hurt and on the verge of tears.
“Please baby, I love you. I want to be with you. Please baby. Don’t cry. I’ll be with you.”
“Don’t just stay with me because I’m saying this is the last chance. Stay with me because you want to.”
“I want to stay with you. I want to be with you and Jasmine. You two make me very happy. I can’t tell you how much having a baby with you has brightened up my life. I wake every morning and smile because I remember you and our baby are with me. But - - …”
“But there’s still Xavier and Viktor. You love them too. They brighten your day too. You are so pleased at how your son has grown. Yes, I know. I understand, but you can’t stay at a standstill. You have to make a choice Nikki. I will be here for you if you choose to stay, and I will always love you if you choose to go. Don’t ever forget that. Now I think you should go talk to Viktor and Xavier. I’ll take care of Jasmine for the next day or two. Don’t worry about us.”
Nikki skimmed her lips with Adreyn’s, nodded, and left.154

Chapter 7
Truth, Lies, and Decisions181

Why does it have to be her? Why did I have to go to that ball? I knew she was going to be there. Why did I have to be charming? It could have been Adreyn. If I would have held my tongue for just 10 more minutes…if I would have I wouldn’t have been able to get to the beautiful, strong, and kind person that is Nikki. Now all I have to decide is her love worth dying for?182

Chris, it’s time. She needs to know.
I’ll be right there Monica.
Two kids, three guys, it’s time she knew her destiny. The third one shouldn’t be too far away. 183

I hope you make the right choice. I love you and loves you too.
I know, Adreyn, I know.
As Nikki sat atop the Eiffel Tower, random instances of times with Adreyn and Viktor popped into her mind’s eye. Romantic walks on the beach, sipping coffee while the sun rose…all the wonderful experiences she’d had with those men suddenly became a burden instead of a joy.
This is just too much for me to handle. I’m strong, but that’s because I fought. If you were turned of your own will, you wouldn’t survive. I was a very strong vampire. Dare I think it, stronger than Monica?
“That is one thing you are wrong about. You are not stronger than me.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that, my dear Monica.”
“Prove it. Right here, right now. I came here to tell you something that would get a fight outta you anyways.”
“Oh? And what was that?”
“I’m not giving Viktor up without a fight.”
“Well, we will need a referee or two. How about Adreyn and Viktor?”
“Maybe one more…say Chris?”
Before Nikki could respond a burly, brown – haired, twilight eyed boy appeared at Monica’s side with a smug grin on his sleep-deprived face.
“Hello Christopher. Having fun playing both sides?” Nikki said to him with just as smug grin on her face.
“Playing both sides? What are you talking about? That was years ago.”
“If you think about it you succeeded in doing what he couldn’t.”
“Yes, but if he had you’d have stole him from me, just like you’re trying to do Viktor?”
“You gave me permission!!! I wouldn’t have even tried if you hadn’t told me he still loved me.”
“I didn’t think it would matter; I figured he’d deny it yet again. But you didn’t even have balls enough to ask him just like you don’t balls enough to fight me - -…”
“Sorry sweetie, had to leave with Xavier. Now why am I here? What’s this about you fighting Monica? I thought you two were friends?”
“We were, that was until she stabbed me in the back. She has been dating my ex – fiancé this whole time.”
“Chris? Oh so you’re Chris.”
“Yea, I am. Got a problem with it?”
“If Nikki would let me, yeah, I would.”
“Whipped much?”
“No Chris, not whipped, in love. You know, how we were.” Nikki snarled.
“Monica was right: You do dwell on the past incessantly.”
“It keeps me from trusting men like you again Christopher.”
“Yet you’re with Marcus? Marcus ‘el fuego de muerte’ Virstrava?”
“Christopher, we said, long ago, that my past would be just that, the past.”
“Adreyn, what’s going on? What is Chris talking about?”
“You never wondered where he went when he left those few days at a time? Oh wait, lemme guess, you though he went to do a job that would pay the bills, didn’t you?”
“That’s…that’s what he told me.”
“Well, it did pay the bill I’m sure, but it’s not something I’d call a job. It’s more like, if you’ll pardon the pun, a living.”
“So Chris, what does he do?”
“Think about what I called him. Marcus ‘el fuego de muerte’, what does that mean my dear?”
“The fire of death…”
“Very good. Now why would he have a name like that?”
“I don’t know…he was a badass when he was younger?”
“Now Marcus, I’m sure has something to say.”
“Not really Christopher. You pretty much said it all for me.”
“Really Adreyn, I mean, Marcus you don’t have a single thing to say to me? What are you trying to tell me? Do you not love me anymore?”
“I don’t know. It’s been hard loving you knowing you love Viktor.”
“You would love me no matter what if you truly loved me.”
“And you’d forget all about him if you truly love me.”
“Adreyn, you know I can’t do that I can’t just forget about that. He’s the father of one of my children! People like that just aren’t forgotten!”
“Well you found it easy to forget about me and to take care of Xavier.”
“I might have left, but I never forget you! Why do you think I came back?”
“You came back because you had nowhere else to go.”
“I could have gone to Chris.”
“I would have shut the door in your face.”
“Doubtful. You know you miss what we had. I can read your thoughts.”
“So maybe I wouldn’t have shut the door in your face, but you still wouldn’t have been completely welcome. Especially when Monica stopped by; Monica would have killed me!”
“I would have done more than that. I would have hung you by your toes till I drained out every little bit of love you have for that waste of space.”
“Wait…you still love me too? What the fuck is going on here?”
“Yes, I agree; what the fuck IS going on here? I mean she’s just one girl. There is nothing extraordinary about her.”
“Well, actually, yes there is Monica.”
“Hello Viktor. Nice of you to join us.”184

“Monica, are you sure you want to do this right now? Couldn’t we wait till we know she’s pregnant? I don’t want to overwhelm her; it’s hard enough to pretend to hate her.”
“Yes, yes, I know, but we don’t have much time, we’re currently losing the war. Do you want to lose anonymous people than we have to? Plus, I figured you couldn’t wait to have another child with Nikki.”
“I can’t but still…how’s she going to feel when she finds out that she has to have another kid with either me or Adreyn?”
“It’s not Adreyn, it’s you. It’s always been you.”
…sadly…
“Now Monica, you know I regret meeting her first. You know what I wished I would have done.”
“Yea, I know, but it wouldn’t have made much difference if she would have met Adreyn, I mean Marcus first. Now that she know, or thinks she knows what he’s been leaving for, I doubt she’d have stayed with him long.”
“We don’t know that. We don’t know any of this. So what if he was sent to protect her from Darien? Who’s to say they can’t fall in love?”
“I do.”
“Your majesty, I am sorry. I just don’t wan your daughter to go through more pain than she has to. She’s already going through hell, if you’ll pardon the pun.”
“I will, and thank you for your thoughts, but Marcus is only here to keep Nikki from getting killed by Darien. Nothing else.”
“But Jasmine, your highness, was she part of the plan?”
“You know the prophecy as well as I do. If he was to be one of the fathers, then so be it.”
“Of course, your highness, of course.”
“From what I know and hear, Xavier is going to make a wonderful king.”
“Thank you your highness.”
“Now if you are finished, I’ll go get Nikki.” Chris said, finally showing his presence in a more literal manner.
“You? Why you Chris? You’re the one who turned her fairytale world with Marcus upside down.”
“Viktor’s quite right dear. You’re here to interpret her emotions. That’s your power after all.”
“Ok, I’ll stay; but who’s going to go?”
“Viktor is.”
“Yes, your highness?”
“Go get her, but make sure she knows nothing of what’s going on. She can’t know.”
“Of course, your majesty.”

Ten minutes later, Viktor reluctantly returned. 185

Chapter 8
Choosing Her Own Destiny197

“Nikki, stop. I have to explain. I don’t want you to hurt. We need to talk.” Adreyn said, running after Nikki, trying to get her not to slam the door in his face.
He was a second too late.
“Come on Nikki. Open the door. I’ll tell you everything. No lies.” His heart broke when he heard sobbing from the other side.
“Nikki don’t cry baby. Open up and let me explain. It’s not what you think. I promise.”
“Adreyn, Marcus, whoever you are, please just leave me alone. I’m going through hell right now to be frank, and I don’t want someone that has lied to me about who they are for the past 18 years in the same room as me right now.”
“I had no choice. Here, read this if you won’t let me explain.”
Silence filled the apartment.198

Will have a strange attraction to her mythical kind, check, best friend will betray her, check…it can’t be, could it? It fits me, but could it be me? No. It has to be someone else. I refuse to let it be me. Dave and Katherine were my parents, not this Alexander guy. The part about the guys is right too. Adreyn, I mean Marcus, was not what he seemed to be. Now which one is my true love and is going to die? I don’t even want to think of either dying, it’s too painful.
“You let me in so I can explain everything, your high highness.” Adreyn said, obviously listening to what she was thinking.
“I am not this princess, do not call me your highness.”
“You are Nikki, your father wouldn’t haven’t told me to protect you if you weren’t.”
“My dad is dead, thank you.”
“Your human father, yes, your real father, no.”
“Dave is my only father. This Alexander is not my dad. If he was, I would have known by now.”
“Actually, if you want to meet him, all you have to do is wait for Viktor to come over and make some ridiculous excuse about wanting to comfort you and take you away from me since I led to you about who I am, and you will.”
“He lied just as much, if not more. He should know that wouldn’t work.”
“Well do you want to wait around for him to come, or do you want to go to my place?”
“You have a place? I should have guessed. I want to go there and never come back. But first, I have to write a couple letters. Will you write one to everyone over there, just a general one?”
“Of course, my love.”
“Thank you. Oh, and I must go see Xavier before I leave for good also.”
“Whatever’ll make you happy baby.”
“Thank you sweetie.”199

“Where is she Viktor?” Monica said when Viktor appeared.
“Read this.”
“Dear Viktor, I know you are most likely the one elected to come get Nikki, but we are no longer in reach of you or Monica, or anyone who’d like to ruin Nikki’s life. She, Jasmine, and I are gone, and have no wish to return, so please do not try and find us. Also, enclosed is a letter from Nikki to all of you, including her father. Yes, she knows about him. She wanted to know if everything she had been told was true. Yes, I told her everything. Quite frankly, I think she should have been told long ago, but that wasn’t my place. Today, the lies end. Today, I resign. I love her, and am not subjecting her one more day of pain that is undeserved. I must go now. Nikki’s packed and read. Goodbye all. Sincerely, Marcus.”
“Is this true Viktor? Is she really gone?” Chris said, shocked.
“Yes, it is. There’s nothing in that apartment except what was there before she moved in.”
“Maybe she’ll come back. I mean, she can’t leave Xavier forever.”
‘She can, she did. Hello Viktor, Monica, Christopher, grandfather.” Xavier said, fuming.
“Xavier, I’m so sorry. I should have told you.”
“You should have told me a lot of things, Viktor, but that’s not why I’m here. I came here to meet my grandfather.”
“Well, here I am Xavier.”
“I’ve seen you following me before, especially the day I met Darien. You knew who I was, who he was, yet you just pretended to bump into him as you whispered a death threat. Yes, I heard that. You’ll learn, just as I have learned recently, I am the most powerful of our kind in the last 2000 years. You have made an enemy, one you should fear.”
“Xavier, I’m sorry, I was trying to protect you, as well as your mother.”
“You can’t protect us forever. But no matter, you have made your move, and I shall make my move very soon. Do not doubt that grandfather. You have forever scarred my mother, and I do not plan on forgiving you till she does.”
“Xavier, I know you’re furious, but your grandfather was just trying to protect you and your mother. He never meant to hurt either of you.”
“Yea, well, it happened. Each one of you should watch your back, especially you two.” Xavier said looking at Viktor and his grandfather.
Without another word, Xavier was gone.200

All in all this is a very interesting story. However the writing gets very confusing, especially towards the end and it is difficult to tell who is talking when there are no line breaks in the dialog. Nice write, Taja
