Tomorrow's Reunion from Yesterday

How many years had it been? Jennifer was not sure she wanted to go to her son’s wedding. She knew her ex was going to be there, and it had been thirteen years since she had last seen him. When they separated back then, it had not been on very good terms. They had just found out that the babysitter’s daughter was his. She felt betrayed, and lost. This was not what she had had planned for her life. She loved him more than life itself. He was everything that she had ever dreamed of. Charming, loving, caring, and most of all, the love that they had shared, was beyond words.
She loved his beautiful chocolate brown eyes, when she found herself looking into them. “Panthora” the tattoo on his left bicep, the long legs that just kept going and going. There was nothing about him that did not touch her, her heart in some way.
Jennifer had wondered many times over the year, where he was, what he was doing, how he was doing. She had remembered the feel of his arms holding her close at times when she cried, or just holding her for no reason. She remembered back to the first kiss, the first time they had made love. She had never known a love like she had with Tom. She missed him so very much, and now after thirteen years of being apart, she was going to see him again. Was she ready? She had gained weight, but wanted to knock his socks off. She wanted to look her best.
Jennifer knew that her husband of almost seven years, was not looking forward to his stepson’s wedding, but she knew she was going to go, no matter what.
Making a promise to her son and future daughter-in-law, that she would be on her best behavior, she took to dieting, and doing whatever it was going to take to look her best, she wanted to make her ex’s jaw drop, show him what he had lost all those years ago.
Her son’s had been talking to their father for about a year prior to the wedding, but she had never had the courage to do the same thing. She had decided to keep her distance and let him live his life.
Little did she know then, what a drastic change her life was about to take.1

Chapter 12

Letting her brother Kevin Jr. talk her into going to the carnival at the Safeway parking lot, Jennifer was in her senior year of high school, and dating a wonderful man. She hoped to marry him one day, but was not sure she ever would. Kevin kept telling her about this person he thought she should meet. She had no idea how this was going to work, she was quite happy with her boyfriend, and had no desire to meet anyone new. However, she did need a break from work and school, so she decided to go. She was hoping she would put an end to Kevin’s constant talk of this other person. Little did she know then, that he would end up becoming her best friend, the one that she would turn to for everything.
Since she had a license she agreed to take him up to the carnival, along with the two plates of food that he was taking up there. She could not believe this, had she lost her mind? She never did this sort of thing before. She had never taken the time for herself, to enjoy life at all. She was much to serious for that kind of thing. She had no time for life, unless it was going to school, or work. Fun was not part of her vocabulary, or daily life. She had managed to find time to fall in love with her boyfriend, but that was as far as it went for her.
Jennifer had plans for her life, and they did not include fun. She wanted to go to college and become a chiropractor. That had been her focus for the past six years, and she was not about to change that now. Her boyfriend, was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant in the same nursing home that she worked in. That was where she had met him. There had been something about him, that she had found attractive.
Alex had short brown hair, that had a soft wave to it, and always looked so professional in his nursing uniform. When they started dating, she felt her life couldn’t get any better than it was. 3

Jennifer had begun getting ready for her graduation, and found herself wondering once again, about her mother. She had never known her, and felt an emptiness as her graduation was fast approaching. She had been asking her father for the past several years about her, but he would tell her nothing. 5

She even tried talking to her step mother about it, and she just kept telling her to give it up, but Jennifer was not willing to let it go that easily. She needed to know. 6

At the carnival, Kevin had introduced her to Tom. "Oh he is full of himself" she thought as she took the empty plates back to her car. She hated guys like that. They just seemed to know everything, and always rubbed her the wrong way. She had to admit to herself that he was kinda cute though. But that didn't matter, she was in love with Alex and nothing or no one could change that. She was gonna marry him one day, she just knew it. He had not proposed yet, but she felt it in her bones. 8

You have a great concept here, but as you said, it's a rough draft. There are some tense issues, for example, in line five you use "plummet" in the present tense and "noticed" in the past tense. Some grammar mistakes that are probably typoes, as well. But I like the concept and would like to read more of this!
