The Unlucky Me - Chapter 6

“Jimmy and Karley are home” I sign to Mason and he jumps up. I run out of the door. 1

“Ginful” yells Jimmy2

“Jimmy” I say3

I run right into him. I give him a huge hug. Mason shakes his hand and Mason and I help Jimmy with his bags. 4

We carry them into the house and up the stairs. 5

“Where are the rugrats?” Jimmy asks. 6

“They are with their grandma” I say7

“Oh” he says and we all walk back downstairs.8

After about an hour mom comes home. The twins run into the house right after her. I am sitting in her chair and Jimmy and Karley are sitting on the couch. And Mason is sitting in David’s chair9

“Oh well hello Jimmy. I didn’t expect you to be here.” she says10

“Yeah I got here about an hour ago” he says. 11

She nods and walks into the kitchen. I follow her. 12

“Oh hello hun. How was your day?” She asks. 13

“Hmmm….I wonder. I went for a run this morning. Guess who WASN’T here when I came back!” I say loudly. 14

“Oh about that…” she says15

I cut her off by saying “Yeah about that. Why the hell would you ask me to watch the kids and then just have grandma come and pick them up after about 2 hours. Huh huh…..can you explain that to me mother?!?” 16

“There is no point in getting mad about this Gin. Its just that I can’t trust you with the kids. That’s all.” she says. 17

“Bullshit. I can watch them perfectly. You can trust me. You NEVER told grandma to come and get us when Karley and Jake were babysitting me and Mason. They treated us like shit while you were gone. But you never knew that because you were too busy working or fighting with dad. And then after dad died they treated us like shit more. You still never noticed. Again…because you were TOO BUSY thinking about your fuckin self. If you ever spent more than one hour a day thinking about your fuckin kids you would prolly die” I say angrily18

“Ginny Ann Lee. Don’t you ever talk to me like that again. And I do think about you guys more than an hour a day and I’m still here so I haven’t died. You need to have more respect for me and also David.” she says. 19

“Oh My god! Why do you ALWAYS bring David into these fights?” I ask20

“Because he’s part of the family. And plus its just like you always bring your father into these fights” she says. 21

“David isn’t part of MY family mom. Just yours. Dad was and still is. He’s still in your too mom. Face it. Even though he’s dead you still end thinking about him once in a while. I know it cause sometimes I see you glance at his picture in the living room. Or Jake or Mason will say something that sounded just like dad and you always point it out. Face it mom. You can’t forget about him. None of us can and never will.” I say22

By that time Karley, Jimmy, Mason and both twins were standing near or in the kitchen. 23

Karley comes over and comforts mom. Mom starts to cry. I just roll me eyes. Anger fired up in me. 24

“Why do you always have to be so mean Gin. Mom is right. You need to watch what you are saying to your elders. And David is part of our family. He’s our step-dad in case you haven’t noticed. So get over it Gin.” Karley says. Her arms around mom. 25

“Are you fucking kidding me? I’m leaving. Maybe I’ll come back maybe not. But I sure as hell ain’t staying here. Fuck you mom. And fuck you too Karley. I hate you both.” I yell at the top of my voice. 26

I run to the door, open it, walk out and slam it as hard as I can. 27

I as fast as I can for as long as I can. Which is about 10 minutes. I don’t know where to go after that. I look around and figure out that I’m near Matt’s house so I walk there. 28

I walk up to the door and knock. 29

Some lady answers. “Is Matt here?” I ask30

“Yeah. Come on in.” The lady says. 31

I walk in and look around. There was a living room to the left, a room with a table in it to the right and a hall straight. 32

“Matt. Someone’s here to see you” She yells. 33

“Whats your name dear?” she asks me34

“Uhh…Ginny” I say35

“Her name is Ginny” she yells36

I hear some running upstairs and about 2 minutes later Matt walks down the hall. 37

“Thanks mom” He says and the lady walks away. 38

“Hey Gin. What are you doing here?” He asks running his hand through his hair. 39

“Well I was running again and decided to come and see you” I say….which was mostly a lie. 40

“That’s cool. Oh you know that thing we were talking about earlier.” he says41

I nod42

“Well….its this weekend ok?”43

I nod again.44

“So…uh..what do you want to do?” He asks. 45

I shrug46

“Well we could go for a walk” He says. 47

“I know exactly where we can go” I say48

“Ok” he says. 49

“Mom I’m going for a walk with Ginny ok?” she yells50

“Ok hun. Just be home by 9” she yells back51

Matt opens the door for me and we both walk down the street.
