The Magical World Within

Ten year old twins, Tammy and Tommy are sitting in the back yard playing with their black Persian cat, Miracle.1

Tommy- Hey let's play Cat Totem.2

Tammy- You know Miracle won't stay put for that~3

Tommy- Then you hold her there and I'll make the offering.4

Tammy- Why do I have to hold her?, I'm the oldest.5

Tommy- Yeah by five minutes...and that's why you have hold her.6

Suddenly the back door opened and Kieko, a sixteen year old Asian girl came out on the porch...Kieko had become the twins guardian when their parents died three years ago in a car wreck, she had been their babysitter and godmother before it.7

Kieko- Hey you two, don't be out there much longer...it's almost time for supper!8

Both twins- Okay!9

Kieko went back inside and the twins stood up and dusted off their pants, as they head inside Tammy stepped on Miracles tail by accident. 10

Miracle screeched in pain, hissed, and ran off into the woods. 11

Without thinking about anything other then getting their cat back, they both ran into the woods after her...not telling Kieko where they were going.12

They chased her out into an opening where a never before explored cave resided.13

Tommy- WHOA! Where did that come from?14

Miracle dashed into the dark, damp cave.15

Tammy- I don't know but Miracle just went in there...come on we have to go after her!16

Tammy grabbed Tommy's hand and ran toward the cave but Tommy stopped.17

Tommy- Wait! We have been all through these woods before...I have never seen this cave.18

Tammy- Maybe we've just never been this deep in the woods, now come on!19

They entered the cave but upon stepping over the threshold they found themselves surrounded by ten different paths and the exit gone.20

Tommy- ...I knew this was a bad idea...now what do we do?21

Tammy- Uhhh easy we just um...pick a direction and go.22

They went down the path directly in front of them and found a dead end but on the wall was a riddle, Tammy read it with her finger, repeating what it said as they tried to figure it out.23

Tammy- \To escape this cave of ways
You must show wisdom of your days.
Backtrack two then take a right
You'll need a lever to see the light.\24

Tommy- What the heck does that mean!?25

Tammy- I don't know...let's just make a mental note of it...I'm not leaving without Miracle anyway.26

They went back where they started, turned around so that they were facing the same way they were when they first got there, and took the path to the northern right.27

They soon ended up back where they began because the path looped around and came out the right most path, so they went straight across and this one done the same thing it came back around and came out the northern left side.28

Tommy- Sis, we're going in circles!29

Tammy- Hey, at least we are getting rid of directions.30

Tommy- ...I guess you're right~31

Tammy- Of course I'm right, now let's go.32

They sighed and went down the southern left path, which once again brought them in a loop.33

Tommy- OH COME ON! This is getting ridiculous!34

Tammy- Calm down T...at least now we are only left with three more directions...35

Tommy- Sorry I'm getting hungry...OH NO we forgot to tell Kieko where we went...we are going to be in so much trouble!36

Tammy- Relax we'll just tell her we went looking for Miracle and ended up...in this strange...cave...37

Tammy slowed her words thinking how silly it sounded.38

Tammy- ...well we'll just show her...this cave isn't going to up and disappear...now come on.39

They go down the southern right path and as it starts to loop around Tommy runs forward a ways and says...40

Tommy- See this one is going to circle around too...why did we come down this way Tammy?....Tammy?41

Not getting an answer he turns around to see Tammy looking at a lever.42

Tommy- Tammy, what are you doing?43

Tammy pulls the lever and they all hear gears grinding and what sounds like a rock door opening. Also after everything stopped a little hole opened under the lever and out came Miracle, meowing.44

Tammy- Miracle, [she picks her up and cuddles her] your okay...I am so sorry I stepped on your tail.45

Tommy ran up and started petting Miracle too, whom seemed to love all the attention.46

So with Miracle now tucked in Tammy's arms they made their way down the southern path, it took a sharp right turn and came out of the cave. The lever had opened the path to the right and they all ran home.47

Kieko was waiting for them with her hands on her hips and a frown on her face.48

Kieko- Where have you two been? And why didn't you tell me first?49

She started tapping her foot while she waited for a response.50

Tammy- Miracle ran off deep into the woods and we went after her...we didn't have time to let you know.51

Tommy- Yeah we could have lost her, and then we went into this huge cave that was like a maze and we couldn't find the exit.52

Tammy- \Tommy~\ [Tammy whispered]53

Kieko- Oh really...nice try but everyone knows there are no caves in these woods.54

Tommy- We didn't think so either but we'll show you, come on.55

Tommy grabbed Kieko's hand and pulled on her trying to get her to follow him into the woods. Tammy went and put Miracle inside and then rushed back out to join them.56

When they got to where the cave was, it wasn't there anymore.57

Tommy- But it was right here!~58

Kieko- You two have some imagination...come on dinner's ready and probably getting cold by now.59

They went back home and never spoke of the cave again...but they'll always remember the magical world within the woods~60
