Chapter 41
Yet it came to pass that Joseph’s wife Micah, was very beautiful and young, and pleased many of the angels with her beauty. And one day, as he kept watch from his throne, Lucifer caught sight of the young woman as she tended to the fields.2
And lo, he came down from heaven as an hawk and perched himself upon the jagged rocks upon which her house was built, and he said unto her, “Why do ye tend the fields while your husband is away at market.” and she replied unto him, “For he is my husband, and must eat.”3
So Lucifer watched Micah as she tended to the fields, and he watched her husband as he was at market. And lo, he caught her husband, Joseph, within the embrace of a Canaanite. He appealed unto the Lord, saying “My Lord, My Lord, see not what Joseph has done? Forsaking his wife for the company of the Canaanite?” and the Lord said unto him, “Do you not see that Joseph has taken favor with me? It is my will that he find company with the Canaanite.”4
And so Lucifer instead descended from the sky, again as a hawk, and perched himself upon the rocks on which Joseph’s house was built. He waited until noonday, and as Micah tended the grain he called out to her. “Why do you ye tend to the fields while your husband is away at market. Surely, ye know that he is with the company of the Canaanite.” and to this, Micah replied unto him, “For he is my husband, and must rejoice.”5
Chapter 56
And behold, the angel Lucifer sat upon his throne as Joseph gained company with both his wives and the Canaanite, Joseph’s house doubled in size and his wives produced many heirs. Yet, Micah was barren and though Joseph knew her, she bore not. 7
This greatly saddened Micah, and to the Lord she cried out. “My Lord God, why have thou given unto the Canaanite three heirs and unto me you have given none? Surely I must have a child with whom shall become an heir!” and God remained silent unto her pleas, and instead he continued to watch over Joseph and his many other wives.8
Yet this highly displeased Lucifer, and so he sat upon his throne and watched as Micah tended the fields and Joseph took company with the Canaanite. And lo, upon her left breast, the Canaanite held the mark of creature, and upon her thigh was the scar of the beast. 9
Lucifer cried out to God, “My Lord, My Lord, see not that the Canaanite with which Joseph keeps company with bares the image of the beast?” and unto him God said, “She bares not the mark of the beast, nor of any earthen image, yet it is the mark of God.” and God was displeased with Lucifer and said. “Why is it so, that ye come to me saying ‘My Lord, My Lord’, I have told ye of my love for Joseph, yet you continue to plead to me.” and Lucifer left God, so as not to anger him further.10
Chapter 611
Yet it came to pass that Lucifer was on his throne as Micah tended the fields and Joseph took company with the Canaanite. Again, he descended unto the earth as a hawk and perched upon the rocks on which Joseph had built his house. 12
And he said unto the barren Micah, “Why do ye tend the fields while your husband is away at market, taking company with the Canaanite. Surely ye know that she is among the uncircumsized, those that brand their breasts and thighs with image of the beast.” and to this Micah said, “For I am barren, and can bare him no heir, no child for his house.”13
And behold, the high angel Lucifer took his form, and walked to the beautiful young woman. Unto her he said, “Your husband shall have a child, for I am a messenger of God, and my child shall be his child. Behold, I tell you this day that you shall become with child, and that your heirs shall multiply across the land.”14
In the valley below the rocks, it came to pass that Lucifer knew Micah, and that she became full with child.
