Chapter Seven

Naruto dug his face into Sasuke's shirt hoping to find comfort. The mugginess in the air was too much for him to bear, there was too much weight in the room, too small, it was closing in, and he had to get out. Naruto had to get out of the room. It was a necessity. Naruto whimpered, starting to push Sasuke towards the door. The air became heavier, the walls closed in faster. Rogue spider webs united and became hands that wanted to trap him in the room. The silk hands reached out, grabbing at him. 1

Then, the light showered into his closed eyes; he dared to open one a crack, they were out of the room. Naruto's breath stuck in his throat, he coughed and sputtered caught between a sigh of relieve and a painful, fear-filled gasp. Sasuke tightened his arms around Naruto's waist; a concerned look plagued his face. Naruto shook his head, warding off any oncoming questions. "We'd better report to our decaying, old, Hokage," Naruto laughed, trying to ease the sickness in his stomach. Sasuke nodded and followed Naruto away from the room. Sasuke cast one more backwards glance towards the door. 2

The door twisted and warped, it was like a mouth curling into a cruel smile; I blinked once, twice, the door remained distorted, still creaking, screaming. Yes, I heard screaming, was that Moegi…? No…she's dead; mummified, it's only the floorboards settling. Only…the door…the door...was normal again. 4

Sasuke jogged to keep up with Naruto, he was in the main entrance, the laptop was already set up and Naruto was fiddling with the camera up top. Sasuke scowled. Stupid technology, he thought. Naruto flipped the power switch and the screen flashed to life. A CPU check ran first, then the downloading of new hardware. Naruto's fingers clicked against the keys, within a matter of minutes a window popped up, Neji's ivory eyes were the first thing that caught Sasuke's attention on the window.

Naruto cleared his voice, "OI! NEJI" He yelled into the mic. The Neji on the screen jumped. It was a few moments before he replied. 7

"Naruto? Sasuke? What's going on?" He asked the mouth slightly out of time with the voice. 8

"Ah, just checking in Neji-kun, Sasuke and I, we've found a body. We need you to make us a list of the missing children. You up to it, Neji-kun?" 9

Neji scoffed, with the computer lag it looked like just a jolt in the system. "Alright Naruto, I'm sending it over now." A little white bar popped up on the screen; slowly it turned green as the list was uploaded to the laptop. 10

"Arigatou, Neji-kun! Sometimes I swear you're a god." Naruto laughed as he received the file. 11

Neji chuckled, "Damn straight. Hey, you two be careful, okay? And make sure you take the portable camera around with you two, I'll be able to create a map with the footage you send me, alright?" 12

Naruto nodded. "We'll check up with you in another few hours, Naruto, O mighty blonde one signing off now!" 13

"'O, mighty blonde one?'" Sasuke echoed, he chuckled lightly, and bent over Naruto's shoulder to get a better look at the list of names. 14

His hand slid over Naruto's which lay on the mouse. Naruto tilted his head up and kissed him. "Sasuke…." The ravenette's eyes scanned the names of the seven children. He was near the end when he pointed out Moegi's name. 15

"Here, she was on the missing Children's list…why the hell did that decrepit Tsunade never tell you?" 16

Naruto's eyes closed sorrowfully, he breathed deeply before opening his eyes and reading the list himself. His eyes scanned down quickly; his breath hitched. "Ku'so!" He swore. Sasuke slid his fingers through his, "What is it, Naruto?" Naruto's voice wavered as he answered, "…Udon is somewhere in this house as well." 17

Just like that, Naruto was finding his friends dead, most likely murdered all around him. What was going on? All of a sudden, this house didn't seem so innocent, and everything seemed more sinister…everything…seemed to reek of impending doom for the both of us. I tightened my grip on Naruto.
