The Wedding Bride pt 3

Benjamin frolics with his PSP, politely lowering the decibel level for the group of white haired women with rippled faces, wearing jogging suits and clutching duffle bags; who unlike the two of us, are enjoying the classical music pouring out of the elevator speakers. Yawning, I check my watch. 12:20. I'm tired. Playing as my chaffuer, Benjamin and I have been up since eight this morning, circling around town, taking care of wedding related business. We're both drained, ready to settle down, take an hour nap. 1

But our wedding obsessed and controling mother won't let us. She's been beating me down with this wedding more than she has my brother. His job is just to play bodyguard and make sure I stay out of trouble (with guys that are not my fiance) and take me wherever I need to go. Not a fun task, but Benjamin's not complaining too much. He's getting paid. 2

Anyway, this was supposed to be my day to relax, go sight seeing, explore, scoop thoughts of Adrian, my angst, and this stupid wedding out of my head. Unfortunately, my plans did not meet the approval of my mother so she's scheduled me to be at the hair salon, the spa, and Michael's to make sure my dress to still fits. I'd rather spend the majority of the day sleeping and pigging out on room service. Then tour the city-once the sun's gone down. 3

The Elevator dings to a stop, pushing back its' doors, and coughing us out. Benjamin crams his game in his pocket, digs out his cell phone and calls mom. I move toward the snack machines for caffine. I am in dire need of stamina. Coffee provides it. 4

Fixing myself a foamy cup of cappucino, I feel a light tap on my shoulder. I spin around to see Cameron grinning like a lunitic.5

"Just when I thought I'd gotten rid of you guys..."6

Cameron pretends to look hurt. "That's harsh ya know."7

I smile and look over his shoulder.8

"Where's your friends?" 9

"Right here!" hoots Luke, peeking from behind the corner. He's sporting a plain white cap with the words 'FUCK IT!' written in black marker. I start to make a comment about it, but decide not to.10

Jacob shows up, muttering to himself and carrying a pink and white stripped bag. When he see's me, he cracks a smile and waves. "Hey, Keeva." 11

"Hey, Jacob."12

Okay, let me just state for the record that I find each of these guys weird, a little annoying, and somewhat enjoyable to be around. But I have to confess that out of all three-I like Jacob the best. He's quiet mostly, not loud and eregious like Luke or snoopy and serious like Cameron. From our conversations at dinner last night, I sterotyped them by the way they spoke and carried themselves. I could be wrong-but that's what I saw.13

Luke greets me with a shoulder hug, an idotic grin spread across his face.14

I'm already agitated by his presence. 15

I look at the bag Jacob's holding more closely and laugh.16

"What were you guys doing in Victoria Secrets?"17

Jacob's face flashes the color of apples. It's true. Guys are horny twenty-four seven. He clears his throat and passes the bag to me.18

"We-uh...bought you something."19

I'm sure I look mortified because Jacob assures me "-it's not underwear."
And Cameron bursts out laughing. I try not to show how embarrassed I am. "But we did get this-" Luke reaches behind his back and pulls out a rolled Victoria Secrets catolog. "Who needs playboy when you have this?" Chuckling, he thumbs through the pages, grinning like a boy who's having his first sexual experince. Cameron shakes his head and Jacob looks like he'd rather be anywhere but here right now. 20

"Is he always this obnoxious?" I ask. They nod. "Always."21

I shake my head in pity.22

"So...what do you guys want anyway?" I take another swig of coffee.23

"Nothing. we just want to hang out with you." replies Cameron.24

I snort. He has got to be kidding. "What?"25

Jacob nods. "Yeah. we had fun last night." Wow. That's kind of random. I peer at them suspicisouly. "That's it?"26

They look at each other. "Uh-yeah. That's it."27

Let's Rewind. We just met last night. They don't know anything about me-vice versa. I have no intentions of being friends with anyone on this trip-if I may call it that-especially with strangers. Guys no less. All I want is to get this wedding over with and live my miserable life out till the day I die.28

"Look, you guys are...nice and all, but I-"29

Before I can finish, Benjamin walks in and greets them with one of those back-slapping guy hugs. He peels off his skull cap and ruffles his dreads. 30

"What are you guys doing here?" 31

"Attempting to talk your sister into hanging out with us." States Jacob, grinning.32

I roll my eyes. Benjamin chuckles. "Really? Well, there's no need for that. You guys are welcomed to tag along-"33

I cut him off. "WHAT!?" 34

Luke pipes up. "Cool! Where we going?"35

"It doesn't matter-" I start but I'm interuppted by my brother.36

"Ah. Girl places. Keeva's getting married Friday, so she has to get her hair done and-"37

I slap Benjamin upside his head. He swears and looks about ready to strangle me. And I don't give a damn because now I'm mad as hell. What happened to keeping things confidental?38

"That's none of their business!"39

The guys cackle and smile at me mischeviously. "It is now." They say in unionson. Fuming, I toss my styrofoam cup in the trash can and throw a tantrum behind a Pepsi machine.
