Substance

One foot in the past, one in the future. Stuck in that strange stickiness that is time. If it were a tangable substance, Time would be like Flubber.1

21:352

Impossible to control; Violent reactions; And a sparkling personality, one you could do nothing but fall in love with.3

You'd have to laugh with it, play with it, embrace it, and enjoy it, because without doing that, you'd be stuck with a glop, and in serious trouble. 4

If different words were said, different reactions could have happened. But it is a faulty line of thinking, and one in which Time would simply laugh. That laugh of which you'd simply fall for again. That captivating, ironic laugh, mocking you slightly, every time you questioned its judgement.5

And like a small child clings onto its favourite cuddly toy, you hold on, as tightly as possible. Both things afraid of the same consquence. Detachment from the substance that keeps the motion moving.7

Perhaps it was never death you were afraid of, but the time that would pass between now and then. The more you try to hold onto it, the more it slips through your fingers, as transparent and necessary as water.8

What happened to the times of late nights, less tiredness and conversations till five am? Feeling the hour's heat on your head. Those two AM heart to hearts?9

Those memories are only snapshots of time. You can't video tape life, you can't save every second of the most important gift you were possibly given, like a drop of liquid silver. But you'll still waste it, admiring it, and doing nothing you want to, restricted by everything else.11

Oh Time you fickle lady, you have robbed me of everything important once again. 12

But my affair with you will carry on. Analysing you as you continue with your fiendish plot, not seeing the corruption of my mind you are causing.13

21:5714

Simply watching the seconds turn into minutes.15

The hours turn into weeks.16

And the months turning into decades.17
