Jade- 17 year old girl in love with Eli

Norma- 17 years old, Jades best friend
Taz- 18 years old, Jades best friend, Eli’s sister

Scene-
Jade is sitting in her room. It looks like she is trying to find something and is getting flustered because she can’t find what she is looking for. Eli and Jades parents are down stairs getting ready for a night out. Finally Jade finds what she was looking for, her razor blade. She runs her hands down the blade and makes her way to the trash can. Finally she tosses it in the trash and makes her way down stairs.2

Scene 1-3

Mr. Bates- Come on Jade we are going to be late for the dinner!!
Jade- (irritably) I am coming dad!! I just had to get a few things, gosh!
Eli-(walking up to Jade) Oh sweetie you look so pretty with your hair like that!
Jade- Yeah sure (rolling her eyes), all I did was put it up.
Mrs. Bates- Jade watch your tone with Eli, he came here for you so you better appreciate it.
Jade: Yes mom (sarcastically). Come on Eli lets get the back seat.
Eli- (whispering to jade) Are you ok? You seem like your stressed, do you want to talk about it.
Jade- Its ok Eli, I am fine its just I hate it when my parents tell me what to do… I am 17 years old.
Eli- (putting his arm around her)It ok as soon as you turn 18 your moving in with me sweetie.
Mr. Bates- Ok kids lets go to dinner (turning towards the door)4

(Mr., Mrs. Bates, Jade and Eli, file into the family car. Mr. Bates tells Jade and Eli that they can sit in the back. Eli and Jade sit in the back of the car and start to talk in almost a whisper.)5

Eli-(whispering) Jade do you think that your parents will let you move in with me?
Jade- (whispering back) I don’t see why not,(uncertainly) well they better, I can’t stand living in this hell-hole.
Eli- Jade I promise you that you will not be in your house for very long. I have found a trailer park that is nice and cheap.
Jade-(a little annoyed) where at hun?
Eli- well its…(interrupted by Mr. Bates)
Mr. Bates- Now children, Mrs. Bates and I are going to go window shopping, Jade here is fifty buck (handing Jade the money). Now please be careful money fly’s (chuckles to himself). (Mr. Bates parks the car and the group splits. Eli and Jade head for the park and Mr. & Mrs. Bates head towards the shops)
Eli-(looking at Jade doubtfully)Jade, talk to me please. You have not been yourself lately.
Jade- I am fine hun, I’ve just have had a stressful week. I am fine.
Eli- Jade, look at me. No your not, you need to tell what’s going on.
Jade-(livid) Damn it Eli! I said I am fine, and I am. Please just quit asking me the same dang question over and over again. (walking away)
Eli- (shocked)Well if you think that I don’t have the right to know what’s wrong with you after 3 years of dating then fine, I won’t ask questions. Hell I won’t even be around you (walking the other direction, yells over his shoulder) You are a freakin lunatic!
Jade- (more livid) Fine what ever! (walking towards a broken down house down the street, she looks into the window of a hardware store and noticed the pack of razor blades, she walks in an gets a pack and walks to the counter to pay. Standing at the counter is Charles and Nick).
Charles- (taps nick and lifts up his hand for a high five to Jade) Hey Jade (hand still in the air and then realizes that she wont high five him lowers it) What’s the blades for?
Jade- (annoyed) They are for my dad.
Nick- Hey where is Eli? He said he was going to hang out with you, he was going to something special.
Jade- Really( sarcastically) and what was that?
Nick- umm… come to think of it… where is he (looking around nervously)
Jade- (chuckles to herself) Well boys, I have a dad at home who what blades, can’t keep a big man waiting. (as she walks out Nick and Charles exchange looks and then get back to work)6


Scene 2-
Scene-
Two days had passed since Jade and Eli had a fight. Jade nor Eli has called each other. Jade is now home in her room with her music on and pulled out the box of razor blades. She puts them on the bed and pulls out her diary. And starts to write in it. After a while of writing Jade gets off her bed and locks the door and puts her cell phone on vibrate. As soon as she sits down she pulls out a razor blade. She looks at and runs her finger along the blade. She starts to talk to herself.7

Jade- Well, look here Jade. You have a box of twelve razor blades, sharp as a knife. What are you going to do with them?? Jade are you going to carve some wood? Are you going to sharpen twig?(sarcastically) Oh Jade, don’t think of cutting your self again. Please don’t…. ha!!! What do I have to lose? I have lost my best friend because of a screw up. Now I’ve ruined my relationship with the one man I love because I can’t handle the truth!! Damn it Jade.(she starts to make a death note, finishes it and screams hysterically) WHY IS MY LIFE SO FUCKED UP!!!! I can’t do this anymore! I can’t!!(Jade takes one of the razors and slowly starts to slice her arm, making sure she doesn’t hit any veins.) Fuck my life! ( This time she starts to cut a little deeper into her arm, her blood starts to fall to her white bed sheets staining them red) I can’t stand my parents telling what to do! I can’t stand Eli telling me that I am not ok in front of my parents! I can’t take it anymore. No one cares about me!! that’s it!!
(Jade takes the razor blade and begins to swipe the blade across her veins. The blood starts to pour to the ground. In the mean time Norma and Taz are climbing up the ladder to Jades room, wanting to surprise her. Jade starts to get dizzy and lays her head in the pool of blood. Norma is the first one to see Jade and then Taz see her).
Taz-(hysterical) OH MY GOD JADE!! WHAT!!! OH GOD CALL 911!!! NORMA CALL 911! (Taz unlocks Jades door and run to get Jades parents)
Norma- ( picks up the phone and starts to dial 911) Oh god help us please!! My friend she’s bleeding…. Bad…. Oh god… I don’t know… Taz is she breathing….. oh god I not sure… she breathing a little(looks at Jade frightened)….. I don’t know… there is a box of razor blades(looks away and starts to cry)…. Yes… oh god… she lives at…. Umm… 521… umm.. oh god… walnut street… oh god!!!(looks backs) Yes… I’ll ….wait…..
Mrs. Bates-(runs to Jade) OH my baby!! Oh my baby. (She takes Jades head into her chest and rocks back and forth)
Mr. Bates- OH god what happened to her….
