She sat there all alone
The story of her life
She thought bitterly
Her fingers twisted a gold band around and around her ring finger
Her eyes, the saddest things you ever seen.
She had so much disappointment
And now she was expecting a bit more
She knew he might not show up
Like so many times before
Her heart would probably foolishly wait forever
But she knew that’s not the way it should be.
She checked her watch.
Theirs had started out like any other love
Two people fell in love
Care deeply for one another
And one expects a ring from that other….
One making promise he just couldn’t keep
And now it would end like any other love
Two people come to a point
When one sees that they are going to separate ways
