The rest of the week went by in a blur. I was so overwhelmed with everything that was happening that I didn’t think I had anything to worry about. On the seventh day, the paranormal attacked again.
“Apparently they thought they could sneak up on us and attack again. They figured we would be weaker from the previous attack and thought they could attack while the opponent was down. The city is going to keep the lock going until they leave us alone. Their plan is to do the Same thing each weak, wait until the ending day of the lock-down and then fight to keep the lock on.” Chase was trying to explain the offense of these monstrosities, but while he was, I was trying to figure out a defensive plan to slam against them.
“What will it take to make them stop?” I asked. I had a huge plan cooking in my head.
“Death for the people who can see them.”
“I think I know what to do. We can fake our deaths. We don’t necessarily have to have them kill us, right? Just as long as we’re dead, right?”
“Yeah. I guess so. As long as they see us dead and they don’t find out by something else. They are going to want to clarify it themselves.” He replied.
“Well. Let us give them what they want to see. We are going to have to make it as real as possible. We can get the props from the drama room and use whatever will help.” I started.
“I’m onto your plan! Nice! Alright this is what we’ll do…” He began. We discussed what we were going to do and started to gather what we needed. We knew it was going to work! It had to!1
A blood-curdling scream rang throughout the halls of the building as I screamed for my life in the ‘play’ Chase and I were performing.
“No! No! I’m…losing……breath! I…I…I…” I began. I acted as if I were coming short on breaths.
“I told you to never disobey me! That’s what you get!” He followed.
“Before… you think it’s over… turn… around.” I stammered through breaths.
Behind Chase stood Trevor. Trevor was holding a plastic knife and was about to ‘stab’ Chase with it.
“Any last words, Chase?” I said with an evil smile.
“Yeah. Death waits for all of us, whether it’s forced upon us or not, and yours will be coming soon as well as mine.”
“One thing, though.”
“What’s that?” He asked in confusion.
“I’ll get to watch your death before I die.” I said in a malicious voice. “Do it, Trevor, do it.”
With that, Trevor ‘stabbed’ Chase with the plastic knife and Chase tumbled to the floor. He reached out his hand in agony and looked at me with what life he pretended to have. As all this happened, I acted out my last part; the faint, slow death of myself.
We lied there acting dead. We both had our eyes open and were staring at the ghosts. They began to vacate the area after they investigated our dead bodies. Sooner or later all of the ghosts had disappeared from the room as well as the school itself.
“We did it!” Chase exclaimed.
“I know! They’re gone! Finally!” I was so ecstatic that it actually worked.2
Another week passed by slowly and no attacks had been made. Not only were there no attacks, but also the ghosts weren’t even on school grounds anymore. They were fooled completely. They thought their worst enemies had vanished, and yet we were still here.
The citywide lock-down finally resided. We were able to leave the school and most of us fled from the school as quick as we could run. There were many people who had sprinted to their houses and ended up locking themselves in their own houses, but they were extremely petrified of what had happened at our school. The whole idea of this entire thing happening was messed up to begin with. We finally fixed the problem and they were off to invade other cities and towns. At least, I thought they were gone for good.3
Volleyball season was coming to an end for Eliza and me. We were both out for it. Apryl, one of the girls on the volleyball team, was throwing a party at her house in her gym. We were all going to sleep in there.
The night finally rolled around and it was time for Apryl’s party. We were all acting normal as ever and then I saw her. It was the little girl outside the window that gave me that icy feeling. She just seemed to glare inside. I ended up dropping all my skittles and ran to my bedding. I cried in fear. I had no clue what else to do. I didn’t have Chase there to protect me and no one else could see her. Everyone thought I was crazy.
Later that evening, we were all asleep. I awoke the next morning and my father came to pick me up and take me home. I didn’t see the girl anymore after that, but I wasn’t going to go out searching for her.
